Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a battery charging apparatus and a control method thereof, and more particularly to a battery charging apparatus and a control method thereof used for charging a battery of an electric vehicle.
The contents described in this section merely provide background information on the present invention and do not constitute the prior art.
Wireless power transmission is a technology that delivers electric energy without electric wires in the form of electromagnetic wave, electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic resonance. In the case of small electronic products, products using wireless power transmission such as smart phones are being used, and many studies are being conducted in the field of high power wireless power transmission such as electric cars.
An example of an electric vehicle is a wireless power transmission device that wirelessly transmits power to an electric vehicle moving along a feed track. A battery charging device of an electric vehicle receives electric power wirelessly transmitted using a current collecting coil in which an induced electromotive force is induced by a magnetic flux generated in a feeding track. Since the current received by the current-collecting coil is AC, in order to charge the battery of the electric vehicle with the wireless transmission power, it is necessary to 1) rectify the AC to DC and 2) adjust the output intensity. Thus, a battery charging device of an electric vehicle generally includes a current collecting coil for receiving electric power, a rectifying device for rectifying the AC to direct current, and a regulator for regulating the output.
2. Description of the Related Art [0002] In recent years, such an automobile wireless charging system often uses a power supply system having a constant frequency, and includes a resonance circuit to increase efficiency of power transmission. In this case, the switching point of the switching element is very important. The error of the switching time due to the time delay in the switching element or its gate driving circuit has a problem of increasing the loss in the circuit.

FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating a supply voltage and a pickup current when a PWM system, a synchronous rectification system, and an integral cycle control system are applied in a battery charging system according to an embodiment of the present invention. 2 (a), 2 (b) and 3 (c) illustrate the case of the PWM method, the synchronous rectification method and the integral cycle control method, respectively.
As shown in FIG. 2, in the battery charging control method according to an embodiment of the present invention, the current delivered to the pickup operates at a certain frequency.
Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, in the case of PWM control as shown in (a), the voltage supplied to the battery satisfies Equation (1).
If the left side is larger than the right side, the current increases, and if the right side is larger than the left side, the current decreases. Using this property, Use the value to adjust the charge current.
Further, in the case of the synchronous rectification method as shown in (b), the voltage supplied to the battery satisfies the following formula (2).
If the left side is larger than the right side, the current increases. If the right side is larger than the left side, the current decreases. By using this property, the controller And adjusts the charging current
Also, in the case of the integral cycle control method as shown in (c), the voltage supplied to the battery satisfies Equation (3).
Here, N represents the control period in terms of the number of cycles of the operation AC, and n represents the number of times that the synchronous rectification circuit operates during the control period. If the left side is larger than the right side, the current increases, and if the right side is larger than the left side, the current decreases. Using this property, the controller adjusts the charge current using the value of n.
Thus, the voltage between the terminals AB Is equal to the current and voltage of the pickup portion, the switching loss is minimized and the power transfer is maximized. Therefore, it is possible to solve the time delay occurring in the switching signal and to increase the power transmission efficiency. In this embodiment, the time delay is interpreted as a phase delay, and the phase delay of the switching signal generated in an actual circuit is solved to enhance the power transmission efficiency. That is, a time delay actually occurring in the elements constituting the actual battery charging circuit is detected, converted into a phase delay, and a filter or the like is used to make the total phase delay an integral multiple of 0 or 360 degrees, So that the switch can be turned on or off simultaneously with the change of the current code of the pickup section. For the application of this embodiment, it is utilized that the system can interpret or design the time delay as phase delay when it operates at a certain frequency and is configured with a resonant circuit. The PWM method, the synchronous rectification method, and the integral cycle control method as illustrated in FIG. 2 may be included, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
FIG. 3 is a view for explaining a gate signal delay that may occur when the synchronous rectification control method according to an embodiment of the present invention is applied.
In the above-described control method, power loss due to the diode resistance can be minimized by turning on some switches and performing synchronous rectification. Synchronous rectification is to turn ON the switch connected in parallel with the diode when the diode is ON to minimize the power loss due to the ON operation of the output diode. FIG. 2A is a diagram showing an ideal case of a switching signal output from a control unit (not shown) for such synchronous rectification control, and FIG. 2B is a diagram illustrating a case where a time delay occurs in a switching signal FIG. In the drawing Shows a graph of the switching signal applied to the gate.
Hereinafter, a process of supplying a rectified current to the battery using a synchronous rectification method in a control unit (not shown) will be described.
The current of the
The current of the
In this way, in the control unit (not shown), the current To generate a switching signal. To this end, a control unit (not shown) ), It is necessary to determine the polarity and output a gate driving signal. In this process, a time delay occurs. That is, the switching signal applied to the gate from the control unit (not shown) is supplied to the gate of the

3, a battery charging apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a
The
The
The
The global pass filter is one of the signal processing filters, which changes only the phase without changing the size of all signals. A desired phase delay value can be obtained as a simple expression change.
The
The time delay occurring in the detection circuit of the
On the other hand, the phase of the switching signal , The phase of the switching signal (m is an integer) to provide the same result as described above.
The
The switching
