Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a flexible display device and a manufacturing method thereof.
박막 트랜지스터(TFT: thin film transistor)를 구비한 액정 디스플레이 장치(liquid crystal display device) 및 유기 발광 디스플레이 장치(organic light emitting display device) 등은 현재 디지털 카메라나 비디오 카메라 또는 휴대정보단말기(PDA)나 휴대전화 등의 모바일 기기용 디스플레이로 그 시장을 확대하고 있다.BACKGROUND ART [0002] Liquid crystal display devices and organic light emitting display devices each having a thin film transistor (TFT) are currently being used in digital cameras, video cameras, portable information terminals (PDAs) And is expanding its market with displays for mobile devices such as telephones.
For such mobile devices, thin, light, and even non-breakable characteristics are required. In addition to the use of a thin glass substrate in manufacturing to make it thin and light, a method of thinning this glass substrate by mechanical or chemical methods has been introduced after using a conventional glass substrate. However, such a process is not only complicated, but also can be broken well, which makes it difficult to actually use the process.
In addition, since such mobile devices are easy to carry and are applied to display devices of various shapes, a flexible characteristic capable of realizing a curved surface is required. However, the conventional glass substrate has a problem that it is difficult to realize a flexible characteristic.
To solve these problems, attempts have been made to form a low temperature polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor on a plastic substrate. Even if the plastic is formed to a thickness of about 0.2 mm, it is not broken easily and its specific gravity is smaller than that of the glass, so that the weight can be reduced to 1/5 or less as compared with the conventional glass substrate and the curved surface can be realized.
The present invention provides a thin film encapsulation method which is excellent in internal outgass control and external moisture-proof prevention characteristics at low cost.

An
When the organic light emitting device is a full color organic light emitting device, the light emitting layer may be patterned as a red light emitting layer, a green light emitting layer, and a blue light emitting layer, respectively, in accordance with red subpixels, green subpixels, and blue subpixels. On the other hand, the light emitting layer may have a multilayer structure in which a red light emitting layer, a green light emitting layer, and a blue light emitting layer are laminated so as to emit white light, or may have a single layer structure including a red light emitting material, a green light emitting material and a blue light emitting material.
The
Referring to FIG. 7, a
Next, as shown in FIG. 9, a
두 경우 모두 산소나 수분으로부터 OLED 층을 보호하기 위해 요구되는 WVTR(Water Vapor transmission rate)는 최대 10-6g/m2/day를 만족시켜야 한다. In a conventional organic light emitting display device, a monolithic polarizing film formed of a polarizing plate and a quarter wave plate is attached on the organic light emitting display OLED in order to suppress reflection of external light. In addition, the organic light emitting display OLED is composed of a metal cathode layer such as Mg: Ag containing an organic substance and an Ag component. When the organic light emitting display OLED is combined with moisture or oxygen, not only the characteristic of the organic material is deteriorated, Thereby causing defects such as pixel defects. In order to prevent such defects, a thin film encapsulation (TFE) technique using an encapsulation technique using a glass or a repetitive structure of an organic film and an inorganic film for a flexible display is applied do. In both cases, the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) required to protect the OLED layer from oxygen and moisture must meet a maximum of 10 -6 g / m 2 / day.
In manufacturing a display device, since a plurality of panels are simultaneously formed on one substrate, a process of separating the substrate from the plastic film after the sealing process is completed, and a cutting process of separating each panel .
In the case of applying the thin film encapsulation technique, a separate temporary protective film is formed on the organic light emitting display device in order to protect the lower thin film encapsulation from damages that may occur during the subsequent process after the thin film encapsulation before attaching the integral polarizing film on the organic light emitting display device. After attaching to the upper part of the bag, the post-processing such as separation and cutting is performed, and finally, the temporary protective film is removed and then the integral polarizing film is attached.
However, defects such as peeling of the lower thin film encapsulation are caused in the process of removing the temporary protective film, and the material cost rises due to the addition of the process such as attachment and removal of the temporary protective film. In addition, when a multi-layered organic / inorganic composite layer is formed on an organic light emitting diode (OLED) device to prevent external moisture permeation, there are many limitations in organic film material and process in order to remove damage to the lower device. For example, the thickness of the organic layer must be thick enough to cover the lower elements, but it is difficult to process because of the need to deposit in a monomer state. In addition, when the inorganic layer is deposited, a large amount of internal outgas is generated due to plasma damage or the like, thereby causing pixel defects.
In order to solve this problem, in the embodiment of the present invention, the
In order to form the
