Abstract

A refrigerator of the present invention includes: a cabinet defining a storage space; a door for opening and closing the storage space; a dispenser provided in the door and discharging at least cold water and purified water; a filter device provided in the storage space to purify water supplied from a water supply source outside a main body; a water supply channel for supplying the water supplied from the water supply source to the filter device; a water tank for storing the purified water filtered in the filter device and cooling the stored water by cold air in the storage space; a cold water channel for guiding the cold water cooled in the water tank toward the dispenser; a purified water channel for guiding the purified water filtered in the filter device to the dispenser after bypassing the water tank; a heater for heating the water stored in the water tank; a hot water channel for guiding the water heated in the heater toward the dispenser; and a hot water valve provided in the hot water channel. Accordingly, the channel between the water tank and the dispenser is sterilized by using the hot water in the water tank heated by the heater.
