Description
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing an electrophoretic display device.
The electrophoretic display device displays an image using a display layer that displays different colors according to an electric field applied between the pixel electrode and the common electrode. The electrophoretic display device includes a lower substrate on which pixel electrodes are formed, an upper substrate on which a common electrode is formed, and a display layer between the lower substrate and the upper substrate. In order to form an electric field between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, the common electrode must be electrically connected to the connection electrode of the lower substrate.
In order to electrically connect the common electrode of the upper substrate and the connection electrode of the lower substrate, a liquid conductive material or a conductive adhesive film is used. When a liquid conductive material is used, there is a problem that it is difficult to precisely control the amount. If an excessive amount is used, an adjacent display layer may be damaged or a short circuit may occur with adjacent pixel electrodes. If the amount is insufficient, the common electrode and the connection electrode may be incompletely electrically connected. In the case of the conductive adhesive film, there is a problem that the work process is difficult due to the high adhesiveness of the surface and a wide contact area is required.
