Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a packed case having a bending structure and a battery pack including the packed case.
As technology development and demand for mobile devices have increased, the demand for secondary batteries as energy sources has been rapidly increasing. Many researches have been conducted on lithium secondary batteries with high energy density and discharge voltage among such secondary batteries. .
The lithium secondary battery is classified into a cylindrical battery, a prismatic battery, a pouch-type battery, and the like depending on its external shape, and may be classified into a lithium ion battery, a lithium ion polymer battery, and a lithium polymer battery depending on the type of electrolyte.
Due to recent trends toward miniaturization of mobile devices, there is a growing demand for prismatic cells and pouch-type cells, which are particularly thin. The shape of a representative battery pack of such a secondary battery having such a small thickness is shown in Fig. 1, and a state of separation before assembly thereof is shown in Fig.
1 and 2, the
Generally, the
However, as the demand for a battery pack with a thinner thickness increases, the thicknesses of the
Japanese Patent Registration No. 3412471 discloses a battery pack case in which a battery pack case, which is assembled using a connecting member such as a screw, in a top case and a bottom case in a pack case comprising a top face portion and a bottom face portion in the form of a metal plate and a side portion made of synthetic resin . However, since the battery pack case is composed of members made of a metal plate and a synthetic resin, and the pack case formed of a synthetic resin having a thickness larger than that of a metal reduces the size of the battery cell compared to the same standard, The size of the pack is inevitably increased, the manufacturing cost of the pack case itself is high, and the assembly method is complicated.
Korean Patent Registration No. 0516146 discloses a battery pack having a battery cell including a housing composed of an upper wall, a lower wall, and side walls. In the battery pack, flat ribs for reinforcing the housing and a recess there is disclosed a battery pack case of a structure having a substantially flat frame having recesses which form a part of an outer envelope including a portion of a thin metal plating provided around the frame . However, since the frame made up of the ribs and recesses is made of a synthetic resin having a thickness of about 3 mm, the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Registration No. 3412471 has problems, and the flange portion of the housing Since the frame is connected using glue bonding, there is a disadvantage in that the bonding strength is lowered compared to the method of bending and welding the extended fastening portion of the present invention as described later.
In order to solve the above problems, Korean Patent Registration No. 0392340 discloses a technique for manufacturing a battery pack case using only a metal material. The upper and lower cases are made of a metal material, A welded lip is formed at the edge of the lower case at a position corresponding to the hole of the upper case and a welded lip of the lower case is inserted into the hole of the upper case and then bonded by ultrasonic welding. A pack case is disclosed.
However, according to the patent, since the flange portion for forming the hole in the upper case is required, the size of the battery pack is increased, and the rim of the lower case must be thick enough to form the welding lips. It is not possible to make full use of the advantage of constructing.
Therefore, there is a high need for a pack case that uses a metal material case of a thin thickness, provides a proper strength against an external impact, and has a simple manufacturing process and a low manufacturing cost.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to solve the above-mentioned problems of the prior art and the technical problems required from the past.

In order to achieve the above object, a battery pack according to the present invention is a battery pack having a structure in which an electrode assembly is embedded in a battery case and a plate-shaped battery cell sealed by heat fusion is mounted inside the pack case,

The pack case continuously covers three surfaces out of the four surfaces of the front surface, the rear surface, the first side surface, and the second side surface, and both side ends of the pack case face each other on one remaining surface .
Therefore, the structure of the pack case for protecting the outer surface of the battery cell is continuously bent while being bent in correspondence with the shape of the outer surface of the battery cell, and both side ends of the pack case are configured to face each other on one surface, It is possible to simplify the manufacturing process compared to a manufacturing method in which a plurality of frame structures are conventionally assembled or an additional joining member or a hot melt is added to a joining portion of a pack case, Thereby reducing the manufacturing cost of the pack.

Preferably, the electrode assembly has a winding structure, a stack structure, and a stack / folding structure. Details of the stacked / folded structure of the electrode assembly are disclosed in Korean Patent Application Laid-Open Nos. 2001-0082058, 2001-0082059 and 2001-0082060, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. As a reference.
The battery cell according to the present invention can be suitably applied to a pouch-shaped battery cell in which an electrode assembly is embedded in a laminate sheet including a metal layer and a resin layer, and in one specific example, a pouch-shaped case of an aluminum laminate sheet .
On the other hand, the material of the metal plate constituting the pack case has appropriate strength for protecting the outer surface of the battery cell, and the material surface that can be deformed to bend according to the shape of the outer surface is not particularly limited, For example, the metal plate of the pack case may be made of stainless steel (SUS).
In one specific example, the length of the pack case may be in the range of 95% to 110% of the length of the outer surface of the battery cell. Specifically, the length of the pack case may be equal to the length of the outer surface of the battery cell So that both side ends of the pack case face each other while being in contact with each other.

Meanwhile, the pack case may be configured to surround the outer surface of the battery cell, and the battery cell and the pack case may be coupled by an adhesive method.
In one specific example, a structure in which a double-sided adhesive tape is interposed between the battery cell and the pack case can be stably coupled to the battery cell without a separate coupling member connecting both side ends of the separate pack case.
