Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a microlens optical sheet for providing excellent hiding power and viewing angle characteristics by improving light condensing and diffusing functions, and a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display using the same.
Liquid crystal display (LCD) has been gradually expanding its application range according to the information society environment and the development of technology, and many models of liquid crystal display have been released. According to this trend, required specs are becoming more and more strict. Recently, features such as light weight, thinness, and low power consumption are required. In particular, in recent years, the number of lamps employed in the backlight unit is reduced, the number of diffusion sheets constituting the optical sheet is reduced, and the gap between the lamp and the light guide plate is reduced for thinning.
With the reduction of the number of lamps and the simplification of the diffusion sheet, there is a need for an optical sheet having a better hiding power and an excellent viewing angle characteristic capable of concealing the lamp bright line and the light guide plate pattern, in particular with the improvement of the brightness required for the remaining optical films. It's getting higher.
The microlens sheet is an optical sheet having a plurality of hemispherical protrusions made of photocurable resin, which is located on one surface of a transparent substrate, and is an optical member used in a backlight unit which is a lighting device for a liquid crystal display device. The microlens optical sheet collects and diffuses light emitted from the lamp to the top of the light guide plate, thereby broadening the luminance characteristics and the wide viewing angle of the emission surface.
1A is a perspective view of a conventional microlens optical sheet, and sectional views thereof (A) to (B) are shown in FIG. 1B. 1A and 1B, the microlens diffusion sheet includes a plurality of
In recent years, various developments of the microlens diffusion sheet having improved condensing and diffusing functions have been made. For example, Korean Patent Laid-Open No. 10-2009-0035373 discloses an optical sheet in which convex and concave lens-shaped patterns are irregularly formed on one surface of a support substrate; Korean Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 10-2008-0092729 discloses an optical sheet in which a light diffusing layer, a prism sheet, and a plurality of bead-containing coating layers are sequentially formed on one surface of a supporting substrate; Korean Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 10-2008-0090636 discloses an optical sheet formed by separating patterns of main micro lens shapes and sub micro lens shapes having different sizes from one surface of a support substrate. In addition, the Republic of Korea Patent Publication Nos. 10-2010-0032767 and 10-2011-0079255 have a plurality of convex portions (micro lens pattern) while having a micro lens diffusion sheet having an embossed pattern or irregularities between the convex portion and the convex portion It is starting.

Diffusion Sheet
In the present invention, the diffusion sheet formed on the transparent substrate may include a plurality of hemispherical micro lens protrusions of 50 to 90% of the total surface area of the sheet, and may be made of a photocurable resin. When the refractive index of the resin after curing is 1.41 or more, it is possible to prevent the reduction of light diffusion effect and the hiding power due to the increase in the total light transmittance, and when it is 1.59 or less. It is possible to prevent a decrease in luminance due to a decrease in total light transmittance. The photocurable resin composition is preferably coated on a semi-spherical concave pattern roll or belt-shaped pattern sheet and a transparent substrate with a thickness of 5 ~ 50㎛, the coating amount between the concave portion and the convex portion and the transparent substrate It may vary depending on the thickness.

The beads are preferably spherical, and may have an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 5 µm, preferably 0.8 to 3 µm. When the average particle diameter is 0.5 µm or more, the beads are evenly dispersed and do not aggregate when mixed with the resin, thereby preventing defects in the form of white spots. It does not reduce the diffusion function, and when it is 5㎛ or less can be filled in the bone between the micro-lens projections can improve the condensing function of the microlens.
The binder resin serves to fix the beads to the diffusion sheet, and thermosetting resins and UV curable resins that are commonly used may be used. Suitable binder resins have high transparency, excellent light transmittance and easy viscosity control, and are easy to coat. Acrylic, urethane, epoxy, vinyl, polyester, polyamide resins or mixtures thereof may be used. Specific examples include (meth) acrylate resins, unsaturated polyester resins, polyester (meth) acrylate resins, silicone urethane (meth) acrylate resins, silicone polyester (meth) acrylate resins, and fluorine urethane (meth) acrylates. Late resins and mixtures thereof. Preferably, acrylic resins capable of realizing excellent coating properties, mechanical properties, adhesive strength, durability and the like can be used. Specific examples thereof include methyl methacrylate, methacrylate, ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, aryl acrylate, hexyl acrylate, isopropyl A homopolymer having repeating units of methacrylic, benzyl acryl, vinyl acryl, 2-methoxyethyl acryl or styrene, or a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing the above two or more components may be used.
The beads and binder resins each have a refractive index in the range of 1.41 to 1.59, and the difference between the two refractive index values must be at least 0.02.
As described above, the resin composition obtained by mixing 100 parts by weight of the binder resin and 30 to 180 parts by weight of the plurality of beads with a solvent and stirring is applied to the surface of the diffusion sheet and dried, and in the case of a UV curable resin, by irradiating UV, The desired bead-containing resin layer is formed.
Filler-containing resin layer
In the present invention, the filler-containing resin layer formed on the opposite side of the transparent sheet forming surface of the transparent substrate is an anti-blocking layer, and inorganic particles such as silica having a particle size of 0.1 to 50 μm or organic particles such as acrylic crosslinked particles. And it may include a binder resin, wherein as the binder resin may be used as the binder resin constituting the coating layer of the diffusion sheet, but is not limited thereto.
If desired, various applications can be applied to prevent degradation of brightness and / or to further improve viewing angles and concealment properties. As the thickness of the coating layer formed on the diffusion sheet changes, the luminance and the viewing angle / hiding characteristic are inversely changed. For example, as the thickness of the coating layer becomes thick, the luminance decreases and the viewing angle / hiding characteristic is improved. In addition, according to the composition of the bead and the binder resin constituting the coating layer it is possible to suppress the lowering of the brightness and improve the viewing angle / hiding characteristics. In addition, as the size of the bead particles is smaller, the viewing angle / hiding characteristic is improved, and the diffusion effect may be maximized by using a difference between the refractive index of the beads and the resin refractive index. In addition, the internal diffusion effect may be improved by forming air bubbles having a size of several tens nm to several μm, for example, 10 to 10000 nm in the coating layer.

That is, the present invention provides a backlight unit including at least one light source for providing light, and the microlens optical sheet of the present invention positioned adjacent to the light source.

As described above, the microlens optical sheet of the present invention can provide an excellent hiding power and an excellent viewing angle characteristic that can effectively conceal the lamp bright line and the light guide plate pattern while improving the luminance required for the conventional optical film. And furthermore, it can be usefully used in the liquid crystal display device. This makes it unnecessary to use two or more diffuser sheets (that is, reduces (simplifies) the laminated structure of the diffuser sheet) and contributes to cost reduction of the backlight unit.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the following examples. However, the following examples are intended to illustrate the present invention, but the scope of the present invention is not limited thereto.
In the following Examples and Comparative Examples, a sheet composed of a diffusion sheet and a bead-containing resin layer coated on the surface thereof was manufactured, and the haze (%), total light transmittance (%), viewing angle luminance (%) of the sheet thus obtained, The hiding power and appearance were respectively measured as follows.
1.haze and total light transmittance
The haze meta NDH-2000 of Nihonde Shogyu Co., Ltd. was used, and haze and total light transmittance were measured using the following formula, respectively.
(TT)Haze (%) = diffused light (DT) / all-light transmitted light (TT)
(DT)Total light transmitted (TT) = parallel light (PT) + diffused light (DT)
Total light transmittance (%) = total light transmitted light (TT) / total light incident light
2. hiding power
The hiding power was evaluated by removing the upper sheet of the direct type CCFL backlight unit with reference to the conventional two-layer laminated sheet (CH153 + CH403). At this time, the evaluation was made based on the five-point method according to whether the CCFL was recognized. The level of concealment was clearly defined as 5 levels, and the level concealed to be mass-produced was set to 2 levels.
3. Viewing angle brightness
The viewing angle luminance was measured using a backlight unit having the same structure as the hiding power measurement, and the light receiving unit was rotated in units of 5 degrees from -85 degrees to +85 degrees in the horizontal direction using BM7 of Topcon Corporation. At this time, the measured value when 0 degree, ie, the light receiving portion is perpendicular to the backlight unit, was measured as the front luminance value. In evaluating the luminance, the conventional two-layer laminated sheet (CH153 + CH403) was compared and evaluated, and it was regarded as satisfactory if the luminance was equal to or higher than the reference.
4. 외관4. Appearance
Observation with the naked eye to check for lumps, vertical lines, and sand mura (a phenomenon in which the surface is shimmered by light as if sand has been sprayed, also known as poor milky way, poor sparkling), flow patterns, stains, spots, etc. It was .
