Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a model for predicting the melt index and density of a polymer in terms of polymerization of olefin monomers in one or several slurry loop reactor (s) and operating conditions within the reactor (s).
High density polyethylene (HDPE) is first produced by further polymerization carried out in a liquid which is a solvent for the final polymer. This process is rapidly being replaced by polymerization under slurry conditions according to Ziegler or Phillips. More specifically, slurry polymerization is carried out continuously in a pipe loop reactor. A slurry of particulate polymer solids suspended in a liquid medium, usually a reaction diluent and a polymerized release which is an unreacted monomer, is formed (see eg US-A-2,285,721). Without exposing the liquid medium to contaminants, it is necessary to separate the polymer and the liquid medium, including the inert diluent and the unreacted monomer, so that the liquid medium can be recycled to the polymerization zone without minimal purification or purification. As described in US-A-3,152,872, the slurry and liquid medium of the polymer are concentrated in one or more settling legs of the slurry loop reactor, from which the slurry is periodically discharged into a flash chamber and collectively It works in a batch-wise manner.
Double loop systems offer the possibility of producing highly customized polyolefins by providing different polymerization conditions for each reactor, usually by varying the amount of hydrogen and comonomers from one reactor to the other. Pretty desirable to be. The polymer product is transferred from the first loop to the second loop through one or several transfer line (s).
In order to ensure that the polymer product meets the grade requirements, in the preparation of such polymers it is necessary to measure the density and melt flow index of the polymer discharged at regular time intervals. However, there is a delay of about 90 minutes between the time the polymer is sampled and the time at which the properties of this polymer are obtained in the laboratory. If the polymer is found to be out of specifications, several hours of preparation should not be classified. In addition, the operating conditions must also be changed, and the magnitude of the correction to be applied and / or the nature of the variable to be changed is unclear. And by correcting the characteristic of one grade, such as a density, other characteristics, such as a melt index, are also changed, for example. It is often obtained by tediously long effort and error processes to impart consistent changes to the polymerization conditions, which corrects out-of-spec features without changing the exact features. This is often further delayed due to investigations to correct operating conditions before obtaining accurate specifications.

The models are static models.
Thus, prior to the initiation of the polymerization, in order to set process parameters, it is necessary to obtain accurate predictions of the polymer density and melt index.

Accordingly, the present invention provides a method of selecting the operating conditions of a reactor to produce a homopolymer or copolymer of a particular density and melt flow index in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta or metallocene catalyst system, which method is described below. The steps include:

여기서, Xi 는 n 표준화된 입력 변수이고, aij 및 bi 는 수 계수이며, Ci 는 중간 함수이고, Res 는 스케일링된 최종 중합체 특성 평가이며;Where Xi is n standardized input variables, aij and bi are number coefficients, Ci is an intermediate function, and Res is a scaled final polymer characterization;

Separate neuron systems are formed for density and melt index, so step c) is repeated for each of these variables.
Thus, in the present invention, after all input parameters are determined before the polymerization is started, these parameters are set manually.
If necessary, a correction is also calculated using the same model, and this correction table is provided. This correction is also applied manually.
In each reactor, the input conditions (or operating conditions) typically include polymerization temperature, pressure in the reactor, monomers, comonomers, hydrogen, catalysts, activators or reaction additives, concentration of feed or bulk of the reactor, catalyst property parameters, Production rate, solid concentration and solid residence time.
Conventional constraints may result from
● 특정 생성물의 특징, 예를 들어 저용융 지수 단일 중합체의 밀도를 부여함;To impart the characteristics of the particular product, eg the density of the low melt index homopolymer;
● 일정한 용융 지수에서, 중합체의 밀도가 코모노머 농도에 대하여 음의 제 1 편미분을 갖지만 양의 제 2 편미분을 갖도록 부여함;At a constant melt index, the density of the polymer is imparted to have a first negative partial fraction but a positive second partial fraction with respect to the comonomer concentration;

Typical dynamic responses can be determined by observing the temporary evolution of each modeled variable in response to the stepwise change of a single variable of the model. Typically, most variables have a linear linear response of the first order, but changes in variables with permanent efficacy, such as catalyst poisons, for example, can be approximated by a secondary linear dynamic response. (integrating response)
The term "partial differential" as used throughout the description herein follows the conventional definition: that is, the derivative for one variable, and all other variables remain constant.
Appropriate mixing rules apply to predict the density and melt flow of the polymer leaving the reactor. This mixing rule predicts the properties of the product exiting the reactor, including the state when the product formed in the other reactor enters the reactor in which the predictive model is used. The mixing rule is determined by assuming that each reactor is perfectly mixed, and also calculating the appropriate average of the conditions present in the reactor at each moment so far and taking into account the residence time in the reactor. At some point the state includes the polymer product being synthesized locally and / or the polymer entering the reactor from the upstream reactor.
In another aspect of the present invention, when the polymer product deviates from the required properties due to the influence of some uncontrolled variables, for example, the presence of trace components acting as catalytic activity inhibitors, the polymer product is returned to its targeted specification. To do this, the same model is used to create a calibration table that is manually applied to the operating conditions.
Preferred monomers are ethylene and optional comonomers are 1-hexene.
Preferably, the input variables are polymerization temperature, concentration of ethylene, hydrogen in the feed and the amount of 1-hexene.
Constraints are equations or inequalities associated with any one of Xi, aij, bi, Ci, Res, or any combination thereof, or any partial derivatives of any order, the partial derivative being understood as a derivative for one variable and all Other variables remain constant.
The model is also used to determine the corrections to be made to operating conditions when the polymer product is out of specification. In this case, preferred operating conditions are amounts of hydrogen and 1-hexene.
