In general, aquariums breeding saltwater fish should provide conditions for filtration of harmful substances in the tank and propagation of bacteria associated with the decomposition of organic matters for optimum conditions necessary for breeding saltwater fish.
Among the organic substances, bacteria related to the circulation of nitrogen include ammonia bacteria (Heterotrophic bacteria), nitrite bacteria (Nitrosomonas bacteria) and nitrate bacteria (Nitrobacter bacteria).
Ammonia bacteria break down seawater excreta (organic matter) and remaining foods into ammonia, nitrite bacteria break down harmful ammonia into relatively less harmful nitrous acid (NO2), and nitrate bacteria turn nitrite into an almost harmless nitrate (NO3). Disassemble it.
These nitrates are safe for saltwater fish, but excessive amounts of nitrates can give stress to saltwater fish, making it possible to lower the levels by proper water change.
However, it is difficult to breed in the place where the supply of seawater is difficult to supply the new seawater to measure the level of nitrate and change accordingly.
