BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a fuel cell system employing a fuel container with a built-in water recovery device. In particular, the present invention relates to a fuel cell system employing a fuel container with a water recovery device capable of effectively condensing water generated in an electric generator of a fuel cell system. A fuel cell system.
In general, a fuel cell is a power generation system that directly converts chemical energy into electrical energy by an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen may supply pure hydrogen directly to the fuel cell system, or may supply hydrogen by reforming materials such as methanol, ethanol, natural gas, and the like. The oxygen may directly supply pure oxygen to the fuel cell system, or may supply oxygen included in normal air using an air pump or the like.
The fuel cell is a polymer electrolyte type and direct methanol type fuel cell operating at room temperature or below 100 ° C, a phosphoric acid type fuel cell operating at around 150 to 200 ° C, a molten carbonate type fuel cell operating at a high temperature of 600 to 700 ° C, 1000 It is classified into the solid oxide fuel cell etc. which operate at high temperature more than degreeC. Each of these fuel cells is basically the same operating principle of generating electricity, but different fuel types, catalysts, electrolytes and the like used.
Among them, Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) uses hydrogen generated by reforming substances such as methanol, ethanol, and natural gas, and has excellent output characteristics and operating temperature than other fuel cells. Low and fast start-up and response characteristics. Therefore, as a mobile power source such as a car, as well as a distributed power source such as a house or a public building and a power supply for a small portable device such as a portable electronic device, there is a wide range of applications.
Basically, the polymer electrolyte fuel cell includes a fuel container for storing fuel, a reformer for reforming fuel to generate hydrogen, and an electricity generator for generating a predetermined voltage and current by an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. The electricity generating unit includes at least one unit fuel cell for generating electrical energy, and may have a stack structure in which a plurality of unit fuel cells are stacked.
The reformer not only converts the fuel into hydrogen-rich reforming gas through steam reforming (SR) catalysis, but also includes the reforming gas through catalytic reaction such as water gas shift (WGS). Removed carbon monoxide. Since the catalysis requires water in the reaction, the reformer must be supplied with water along with the fuel. Although such water may be separately supplied from the outside, the hot water generated by the electrochemical reaction in the electricity generating unit may be recovered by the water recovery device and used.
On the other hand, Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC), another type of fuel cell operating at low temperature, has a structure similar to that of the above-described polymer electrolyte type fuel cell, but uses a high concentration of liquid methanol instead of hydrogen as a fuel. And then directly used as fuel. Therefore, in order to operate even in the case of a direct methanol fuel cell, water must be supplied to the electricity generator together with the fuel. Such water may be separately supplied from the outside, but the hot water generated by the electrochemical reaction in the electricity generating unit may be recovered from the water recovery device and used.
When water is recovered from the water recovery device, hot water must be condensed. To this end, the water recovery device should be kept at a low temperature to facilitate the action of condensation of high temperature water. However, since the gas containing the high temperature water generated by the electrochemical reaction in the electricity generating unit is continuously introduced into the water recovery device, it is not easy to maintain the low temperature by increasing the temperature inside.
Through the above configuration, the raw fuel stored in the
The

Referring to the reaction scheme, the hydrogen is divided into hydrogen ions and electrons in the
On the other hand, the water and residual gas generated by the cathode electrode 233 of the
3 is a perspective view showing the
3 and 4, the
The
The
The
The
Through the above configuration, since the
Water functioning in the second plate-shaped
On the other hand, when a large amount of water condensed inside the
The water stored in the
Meanwhile, the residual gas separated after the water is condensed in the
On the other hand, even when the

According to the fuel cell system employing the fuel tank incorporating the water recovery device according to the present invention, the water recovery is maintained by maintaining the temperature of the water recovery device below a predetermined temperature through heat exchange between the raw fuel stored in the fuel tank and the water recovery device. It is possible to increase the water recovery capability of the device, and to operate the fuel cell system with higher efficiency by increasing the temperature of the raw fuel in the fuel tank and supplying it to the fuel cell system. It is possible to implement a compact fuel cell system.
