The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, and more particularly, to a method for dispersing a spacer of a liquid crystal display device capable of adjusting a spacer scattering area.
A liquid crystal display device interposes a liquid crystal layer composed of several liquid crystal molecules between a pair of glass substrates on which transparent electrodes are formed, and then changes the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules by an electric field generated between the transparent electrodes to transmit light. It is an apparatus which displays a predetermined image by making it control.
In such a liquid crystal display device, characteristics such as response speed, contrast ratio, viewing angle, and luminance uniformity are closely related to the thickness of the liquid crystal layer, that is, the cell gap, thereby improving the screen quality of the liquid crystal display device. In order to achieve this, it is very important to maintain a uniform cell gap. In particular, in the trend toward larger areas and higher quality of liquid crystal displays, maintaining a constant cell gap is becoming more important.
Accordingly, most liquid crystal display devices currently disperse a cell gap maintaining spacer on any one of substrates in a manufacturing process thereof, for example, in a bonding process between glass substrates.
However, in scattering the spacer, conventionally evenly distributed over the entire area of the substrate, the spacer is charged with the same polarity so that the spacer is uniformly distributed by using the repulsive force between them. For this reason, problems such as poor alignment around the spacers and reduction of the contrast ratio (CR) due to the spacers scattered in the display area have been a problem.
In order to solve this problem, a method of dispersing a spacer only in a desired area using a shielding mask has been proposed.
1 is a view for explaining a conventional method of dispersing a spacer, as shown, is sprayed from the
At this time, in order to prevent generation of light leakage and misalignment due to the
However, in the conventional spacer spreading device, when the resolution of the liquid crystal display device is changed, it is necessary to manufacture and mount a shielding mask suitable for the size of the changed display area.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a spacer dispersing apparatus capable of adjusting a spacer spreading region by adjusting a mask adjusting layer when a resolution of a liquid crystal display device is changed, without producing a new mask.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention uses the repulsive force between the spacers by charging the spacers ejected from the nozzle to the same polarity to any one of the array substrate or the color filter substrate in order to maintain a uniform cell gap A method of dispersing a spacer of a liquid crystal display device, comprising: a blocking portion blocking a display area and an opening for exposing a non-display area on an upper portion of the substrate, and having a display area and a non-display area of all sizes; In the liquid crystal display device to selectively distribute the spacer only on the non-display area of the substrate by dispersing the spacer with a shielding mask arranged to adjust the size of the blocking portion and the opening so as to enable Provided is a spacer scattering method.
The shielding mask includes a shielding layer, an adjusting layer, and a supporting layer, and the scattering area of the spacer can be changed by adjusting the adjusting layer.
In order to prevent the spacer from remaining on the shielding mask, the spacer and the shielding mask are charged with the same polarity, and the shielding layer is formed in a convex triangle shape.

Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
2 is a view for explaining a spacer distribution method according to the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 2, in order to maintain a uniform cell gap, the
In this case, in order to prevent occurrence of light leakage and orientation defects caused by the
In this way, a uniform spacer spread can be made by the repulsive force between the
The shielding mask 26 includes a
In this case, when the resolution of the liquid crystal display device or the size of the display area is changed, it is not necessary to manufacture a new mask, thereby reducing the mask manufacturing cost and eliminating the trouble of manufacturing and mounting a new mask.
In FIG. 2,
Meanwhile, in the shielding mask 26 according to the present invention, the mask portion corresponding to the display area A provides a blocking area C through which the
In particular, the shielding mask 26 is applied with the same polarity, that is, a positive voltage, with the charged spacer so as to prevent the dispersion of the spacer in a portion corresponding to the display region providing the blocking region C.
In addition, the
In addition, in applying the spacer spreading method of the present invention, the spreading of the spacer may be performed first with respect to a specific portion of the substrate, and then, while moving to another point.
As described above, according to the present invention, when the resolution of the liquid crystal display device or the size of the display area is changed, the manufacturing cost of the new mask can be reduced by adjusting the spacer scattering area by adjusting the mask adjusting layer. I can remove the hassle to attach.
In addition, this invention can be implemented in various changes in the range which does not deviate from the summary.
