Abstract

PURPOSE: A remote pointing system is provided to select a menu a user wants by pointing the menu easily using a remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A remote pointing system consists of four parts. At first, a remote control sends a laser or an infrared rays signal crosswise toward the direction a user wants. At second, a sensing part senses the incident position of the signal, sent from the remote control, on a screen. At third, A MICOM controls the system so that the cursor can be located on the given position by calculating the position of the x-axis and the y-axis on the screen, and so that the given menu can be executed if the cursor is kept on a certain position for the stated time. At fourth, a display part shows the cursor under the control of the MICOM.
