The isoserine is propionic acid derivative having hydroxy group at carbon number 2 and amine group at carbon number 3 and it is not known if it is available from nature.

각질 박리 효과가 우수한 이소세린을 사용하여 피부 따가움 유발 정도(sting test)를 측정하였다. 피시험자는 20세에서 35세 사이의 건강한 여성 30명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 먼저 세안을 하여 기존에 분비된 피지 및 먼지 등을 제거한 후, 항온 항습실(27 ℃, 70 %의 상대습도)에서 15분간 적응시켰다. 부직포에 시료(알파하이드록시산 또는 이소세린) 약 0.4 ml를 적신 후, 코 주변과 뺨에 부직포를 붙인 후, 20초 경과 후 제거하였다. 시간대 별(부직포 제거 후, 경과 시간 10초, 150초, 300초 및 480초)로 하기 따가움 정도 점수 기준과 하기 표 3의 따가움 정도 판단 기준에 의해 피시험자의 주관적 판정으로 따가움 정도를 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 4에 나타내었다.Skin sting test was measured using isoserine having excellent exfoliation effect.
