Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for reducing a battery consumption in a terminal at broadcast service is provided to reduce the battery consumption while the terminal receives broadcast messages, by preparing functions of turn on and off in the terminal and monitoring only typical page slots without monitoring slots for receiving the broadcast messages under a turn-off state of the terminal. CONSTITUTION: If a user sets the terminal not to receive the broadcast messages, only the typical slots can be monitored(100,110). That is, if a setting signal for turning on the broadcast messages is received, a wake-up time of the terminal is calculated in order to broadcast pages and the broadcast messages. If a user sets the terminal to receive the broadcast messages, broadcast slots are monitored separately(100,120). Namely, if a setting signal for turning-off the broadcast messages, the wake-up time thereof is calculated so that the terminal can wake up at typical page slots.

본 발명은 이동통신시스템에 관한 것으로, 특히 방송서비스에서의 단말기 배터리 소모감소방법에 관한 것이다.The present invention relates to a mobile communication system, and more particularly, to a method for reducing terminal battery consumption in a broadcast service.

IS-637규격에서는 SMS(Short Message Service)의 일종인 방송서비스(broadcast service)에 대해서 언급하고 있다. 상기 SMS는 GSM(Global System for Mobile communication), CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access), PCS(Personal Communication Service) 방식 등의 이동 무선 단말기 사이에 메시지 통신을 가능하게 하거나, 고정망에서의 메시지를 이동망 내의 처리장치에 일단 축적한 다음 디지털 메시지 형태로 변환하여 이동 단말에 전송하여 주는 서비스를 말한다.The IS-637 standard refers to a broadcast service, which is a kind of short message service (SMS). Method 1은 시스템이 모든 슬롯에 방송메시지를 보내는 것이고, Method 2는 일반적인 페이지메시지(general page message)가 M( 2i16 , i; 슬롯사이클 인덱스)주기동안 보내어지고, 단말기는 자신의 페이지슬롯에서 방송페이지를 수신하고 t/4mod(M+3)=M에서 방송메시지를 수신하게 되는 방법이다. 그리고 Method 3은 일반적인 페이지메시지를 t/4mod(B+3)=0(B; 2i16 , i; 방송 인덱스(확장시스템 파라메터 메시지))를 수신하게 되고 그후 n×3(m; 페이지번호) 슬롯 떨어진 곳에서 방송메시지를 받게 되는 방법이다. 여기서, t/4는 t/4를 넘지않는 정수를 의미한다. 예를 들면 t/4=5.5이면 t/4=5이다.Brief description of each operation method is as follows. 시스템에서는 확장 시스템파라메터(방송 인덱스=1∼7)를 보내주고 계산된 시간에서 일반적인 페이지메시지와 데이터버스트메시지를 도 2의 단말기로 전송해준다. 도 2를 참조하면, 단말기의 CAI(Common Air Interface) 20은 시스템에서 일반적인 페이지메시지와 데이터버스메시지를 수신하면 이를 분석하여 MC(Message Classification part) 22로 전달해준다. MC 22는 메시지를 분류하여 UI(User Interface) 24로 보내주고, 슬립하게될 조건을 체크해서 그에 대응된 명령을 서처(searcher) 26으로 넘겨준다.
