Abstract
The solid electrolyte membrane 10 includes a solid electrolyte 11 and a conductive sheet 12, and has a structure in which the conductive sheet is embedded within the solid electrolyte membrane. The all-solid-state battery including the solid electrolyte membrane according to the present invention has the effect of maintaining electrical conductivity at a high level while using a thick film type electrode with a high electrode loading. In addition, since a porous carbon sheet is embedded in the solid electrolyte membrane, the thickness of the solid electrolyte membrane can be thinned to prevent the volume of the battery from increasing due to thickening of the electrodes, while improving shape stability and maintaining high physical strength. Meanwhile, by applying the solid electrolyte membrane manufacturing method proposed in the present invention, compared to the filling method using a solid electrolyte solution, the carbon sheet can be inserted into the solid electrolyte membrane without pores remaining as dead space, thereby minimizing the decrease in ionic conductivity. .
Description
The present invention relates to an electrolyte membrane for an all-solid-state battery, an all-solid-state battery including the electrolyte membrane, and a method for manufacturing the electrolyte membrane.
Lithium-ion batteries that use a liquid electrolyte have a structure in which the cathode and anode are separated by a separator, so if the separator is damaged by deformation or external impact, a short circuit may occur, which can lead to risks such as overheating or explosion. Therefore, the development of a polymer electrolyte that can ensure safety in the field of lithium-ion secondary batteries can be said to be a very important task.
Lithium secondary batteries using polymer electrolytes have the advantage of increasing the safety of the battery, improving the reliability of the battery by preventing electrolyte leakage, and making it easy to manufacture thin batteries. In addition, lithium metal can be used as a negative electrode, which can improve energy density. Accordingly, it is expected to be applied to small secondary batteries as well as high-capacity secondary batteries for electric vehicles, and is attracting attention as a next-generation battery.
However, lithium secondary batteries using polymer electrolytes have lower ionic conductivity than liquid electrolytes and their output characteristics deteriorate, especially at low temperatures. In addition, compared to a liquid electrolyte, it is difficult to form a uniform contact interface between the electrode and the solid electrolyte membrane, and there is a problem of increased resistance due to poor contact with the electrode active material. For this reason, when a solid electrolyte is applied, the capacity of the electrode cannot be fully developed under the liquid electrolyte, and the capacity is lower than the design or theoretical capacity. In addition, the strength of the solid electrolyte membrane itself is low, resulting in poor processability during battery assembly, or making it difficult to form a single membrane (free-standing film).
Accordingly, the development of all-solid-state batteries with novel configurations is required to demonstrate excellent electrochemical properties of all-solid-state batteries.

The sulfide-based solid electrolyte contains sulfur (S) and has ionic conductivity of a metal belonging to group 1 or 2 of the periodic table, and may include Li-PS-based glass or Li-PS-based glass ceramic. Non-limiting examples of such sulfide-based solid electrolytes include Li 2 SP 2 S 5 , Li 2 S-LiI-P 2 S 5 , Li 2 S-LiI-Li 2 OP 2 S 5 , Li 2 S-LiBr-P 2 S 5 , Li 2 S-Li 2 OP 2 S 5 , Li 2 S-Li 3 PO 4 -P 2 S 5 , Li 2 SP 2 S 5 -P 2 O 5 , Li 2 SP 2 S 5 -SiS 2 , Li 2 SP 2 S 5 -SnS, Li 2 SP 2 S 5 -Al 2 S 3 , Li 2 S-GeS 2 , Li 2 S-GeS 2 -ZnS, etc., and may include one or more of these. there is.

Referring to FIG. 2, the
다만, 이 경우 두 장의 도전성 시트는 서로 이격되어 있어 양극과 음극 사이의 절연상태를 유지하도록 배치된다(도 3 참조)Meanwhile, two sheets of the conductive sheet may be prepared and buried at a predetermined depth on both surface portions of the solid electrolyte membrane. In this case, the entire surface of each buried conductive sheet is not covered with the solid electrolyte membrane and the solid electrolyte membrane is It is buried so that it is exposed to the outside of the membrane. As a result, when a battery is assembled by stacking a solid electrolyte membrane and an electrode, the electrode active material layer of the electrode facing the conductive sheets can physically contact each other. However, in this case, the two conductive sheets are spaced apart from each other and arranged to maintain insulation between the anode and cathode (see Figure 3).
In this way, since a conductive sheet is embedded in the surface layer of the solid electrolyte membrane to contact the electrode, the conductivity of the electrode can be improved and the mechanical strength and shape stability of the solid electrolyte membrane can be increased.
Meanwhile, in one embodiment of the present invention, the conductive sheet may be completely buried inside the solid electrolyte membrane so as not to contact the electrode. In this case, even if the effect of improving conductivity is not achieved, it is advantageous to improve the mechanical strength and shape stability of the solid electrolyte membrane.
In one embodiment of the present invention, the solid electrolyte membrane can be manufactured by manufacturing an electrolyte film, placing a conductive sheet on the surface of the electrolyte film, and pressing the conductive sheet into the electrolyte film.
고체 전해질 재료로 고분자계 고체 전해질이 사용되는 경우에는 물, DMF(dimethylformamide), NMP(N-methly-2-pyrrolidone), 아세톤, DMSO(dimethyl sulfoxide), THF(tetrahydrofuran), 아세토니트릴(acetonitrile, AN), 에탄올(Ethanol), 헥센(hexane) 등의 유기 용매 중 하나 이상 선택하여 사용할 수 있다. Referring to FIG. 1, the method for manufacturing a solid electrolyte membrane of the present invention will be described in more detail. First, a slurry for an electrolyte membrane is prepared by mixing a solid electrolyte with a solvent. The solvent may be appropriately selected depending on the solid electrolyte used. When a sulfide-based solid electrolyte is used, a non-polar solvent such as hexane or benzene can be used because it has low polarity and is not reactive with the solid electrolyte. When a polymer-based solid electrolyte is used as a solid electrolyte material, water, DMF (dimethylformamide), NMP (N-methly-2-pyrrolidone), acetone, DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide), THF (tetrahydrofuran), acetonitrile (AN) ), ethanol, hexene, etc. can be selected and used.
For example, a polymer solution can be prepared by adding a polymer-based solid electrolyte such as PEO to acetonitrile at a concentration of about 10 wt%. At this time, the temperature of the polymer solution can be raised to 40°C to 60°C to promote uniform mixing of the solvent and the polymer material.
Next, the slurry is applied to a release plate such as a terephthalate film and molded into a film having a predetermined thickness. The application and molding can be performed using a known coating method such as a doctor blade. Afterwards, it is dried to remove the solvent and obtain an electrolyte film.
A carbon sheet is placed on the surface of the electrolyte film obtained in this way and pressurized to press the carbon sheet into the interior of the electrolyte film. At this time, a release film such as a terephthalate film may be placed on the surface of the carbon sheet to protect the carbon sheet. The pressing can be performed using a roll press or jig. At this time, by controlling process conditions such as the spacing of rollers or jigs, applied pressure, and temperature, it is possible to ensure low porosity and appropriate thickness.
Meanwhile, in a specific embodiment of the present invention, the step of heating the electrolyte film to a predetermined temperature before the pressurization may be further performed.
This method of forming a film into a film and filling the sheet by pressing a solid electrolyte into the conductive sheet is advantageous for obtaining a solid electrolyte membrane with low porosity compared to impregnating the conductive sheet with a polymer solution. When filling pores by impregnating a conductive sheet with a polymer solution, a pressurizing process is not necessary, but during the drying process, the solvent component volatilizes and escapes from the conductive sheet, creating a large amount of pores in the electrolyte membrane (see Figure 4). If the concentration of the polymer solution is high, it is advantageous to control the thickness or porosity of the electrolyte membrane, but the inside of the sheet may not be completely impregnated with the solid electrolyte or the ionic conductivity may be low.
Considering the embedding of the carbon sheet by pressurization, the solid electrolyte preferably includes a polymer-based solid electrolyte. Since the polymer-based solid electrolyte has higher ductility than the inorganic electrolyte material, the carbon sheet maintains its shape without being destroyed and can be well press-fitted into the electrolyte membrane. In terms of ductility, the polymer electrolyte preferably has a glass transition temperature in the range of -100°C to 150°C. In addition, it is desirable to increase the ductility of the electrolyte film by raising the temperature of the electrolyte film above the glass transition temperature before or during pressurization. The temperature increase can be performed, for example, by maintaining the electrolyte film in an oven or chamber for a predetermined period of time or by heating a pressing member such as a roll press or a jig. In addition, since the strength is improved and the shape is well maintained by embedding the carbon sheet, it is easy to mold the polymer-based solid electrolyte into a free-standing type, which can improve processability in battery manufacturing.
