Description
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for monitoring the remaining amount of liquid hydrogen in a liquid hydrogen storage tank, and more particularly, to a small capacity liquid hydrogen storage tank for a hydrogen fuel cell of an unmanned aerial vehicle such as a drone. It relates to a liquid hydrogen storage tank monitoring apparatus and method for an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of remotely diagnosing whether there is an abnormality or malfunction.
A hydrogen fuel cell is a device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. It is an eco-friendly energy source with high energy efficiency and no noise and less greenhouse gas generation compared to power generation using fossil fuels.
Since the hydrogen gas supplied to such a hydrogen fuel cell system exists in a gaseous state at room temperature, it is compressed or liquefied at a high pressure and stored in a compressed hydrogen storage tank/liquid hydrogen storage tank that can withstand a pressure of 700 bar.
Liquid hydrogen can be stored in a liquid state in a special insulated storage tank for cryogenic use by cooling gaseous hydrogen to a cryogenic state (atmospheric pressure -253?). It has 865 times the volumetric energy density of gaseous hydrogen.
That is, liquid hydrogen can be stored in a large capacity, that is, at high density at atmospheric pressure, so that it is possible to reduce the storage cost as well as the safety aspect of the storage tank.
Meanwhile, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is equipped with various equipment such as optical, infrared, and radar sensors to perform military-purpose missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance, and precision strike guidance, as well as surface observation, weather observation, and disaster monitoring. , the use of goods for transport, aerial photography, disaster relief, etc. is rapidly increasing.
Recently, as a power source for unmanned aerial vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell systems that are advantageous for long flights and have low noise are in the spotlight.
That is, the unmanned aerial vehicle supplies hydrogen gas vaporized in a liquid hydrogen storage tank to a fuel cell stack, and operates an electric motor with electricity generated by reacting it with oxygen in the air in the fuel cell stack to use less fuel. It is possible to fly long distances over long distances, emits almost no exhaust gas and pollutants, so there is little environmental pollution, and it is attracting attention in various industrial fields such as military use because it can solve the short operating time, which was the biggest drawback of existing batteries. .
If an abnormality or malfunction occurs in the liquid hydrogen storage tank during flight of such an unmanned aerial vehicle, hydrogen may not be properly supplied to the fuel cell stack or the temperature of hydrogen will drop compared to air, which may significantly reduce the fuel cell stack's driving performance for electricity generation. have no choice but to
On the other hand, Patent Document 1 discloses a system for detecting the remaining amount of liquid hydrogen in the storage tank based on the amount of change in the amount of heat and the change in pressure in the storage tank.
However, this method has a problem in that the accuracy is low due to the physical characteristics of the wide temperature fluctuation range of liquid hydrogen, and the error in calculating the remaining amount is very large, and there are frequent malfunctions.
In addition, when liquid hydrogen is filled in the storage tank, Boil Off Gas (BOG) is evaporated and vaporized from liquid hydrogen due to intermolecular interaction or thermal energy transferred from the outside, resulting in pressure inside the storage tank Since the natural gas gas is frequently exhausted to suppress overheating of temperature, a corresponding error occurs and the remaining amount of liquid hydrogen cannot be accurately detected.
On the other hand, the water level and storage amount in the liquid hydrogen storage tank can be directly measured using a device for detecting the level of liquid hydrogen, a water level sensor, or a temperature sensor. In this case, there is a problem in that installation is impossible due to an increase in weight and space restrictions.

Here, the
That is, the hydrogen supplied to the anode of the
In addition, in the cathode, hydrogen ions supplied through the electrolyte membrane and electrons transferred through the separator meet with oxygen in the air supplied to the cathode by the air supply device to generate water. At this time, due to the movement of hydrogen ions, the flow of electrons through the external conductor occurs, and a current is generated by the flow of these electrons.

A monitoring method for measuring the remaining amount of liquid hydrogen using the liquid hydrogen storage tank monitoring apparatus for an unmanned aerial vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 3 .
(S101).First, in a state in which the user (operator) initializes the driving time of the unmanned aerial vehicle, the accumulated hydrogen consumption amount, the heater accumulated hydrogen evaporation amount, etc., the liquid hydrogen storage tank pressure set value is input and stored in advance (S101).
(S103).Thereafter, the
(S105).Based on the measured value in step S103, the
That is, the
For example, when the measured value of the voltage sensor (V) is 25V and the measured value of the current sensor (A) is 80A, the output value of the

(S113).Thereafter, the
(S115)Subsequently, the control unit calculates an error by comparing the calculated residual liquid hydrogen amount obtained in step S107 with the liquid hydrogen residual amount obtained in the heater accumulated hydrogen evaporation amount in step S113. (S115)

(S119).Subsequently, an error is calculated by comparing the preset liquid hydrogen storage tank pressure value in step S101 with the liquid hydrogen storage tank pressure measurement value obtained in step S117 (S119).
(S121).Finally, if at least one of the comparison values is out of the allowable error range, the
At this time, if at least any one of the comparison values is out of the allowable error range, the
Thereafter, the process of returning to step S103 may be repeatedly performed.
In this way, it is possible to accurately and stably measure the remaining amount of liquid hydrogen consumed in the liquid
