Description
The present invention relates to an X-ray tube.
When a high voltage is applied between the cathode and the anode, the X-ray tube encounters a thermal electron source generated at the cathode made of filament and strikes the anode, which is a metal material. Use the principle of generating
The inside of the X-ray tube maintains a vacuum state to prevent molecular ionization on the movement path by the high energy electron beam, thereby preventing damage to the electron source due to dielectric breakdown or ion collision. The thickness of the target is determined in consideration of the penetration depth of the electrons and the ability to absorb heat generated from the target.
At this time, when the electrons emitted from the cathode are accelerated in a vacuum and collide with the anode target, about 1% of the electron energy is generated as X-rays according to the bramsstrahlung, and about 99% of the energy is generated as thermal energy. Therefore, the allowable heat load of the anode target is directly connected to the output of the X-ray source.
Meanwhile, the X-ray tube is divided into a fixed X-ray tube and a rotary X-ray tube according to the operation of the anode. Rotating X-ray tubes are generally identical to stationary X-ray tubes, except that the anode rotates to dissipate heat generated by the target.
