Abstract
Description
MAS has been used in the defense industry for decades in applications such as EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference) and Radar Cross Section Reduction. In recent years, with the advent of wireless electronics, MAS has also been used to reduce EMI inside high-speed electronic circuits.
There have been many studies to solve the cross-discipline problem in the design and production of MAS. Various methods have been proposed to achieve the desired absorption in the MAS, such as special synthetic materials, frequency selective surfaces, and multilayering. Due to this growing interest in efficient MAS design, interest in performance verification and characterization methods has increased and several measurement techniques have been proposed.
These measurement methods are generally classified into Closed Measurement Cell, Open-ended Probes, and Free-Space based methods. In these methods, microwaves with known properties are examined in MUT (MAS Under Test).
The reflected microwaves after transmission are recorded as S-parameters (S 21 , S 11 ). Then, for the detailed evaluation of the MUT, intrinsic characteristics such as complex permittivity (?), Complex permeability (?), Reflection coefficient (?) And return loss are calculated from the measured S-parameter.
Free-space measurement technology can minimize constraints on sample size / shape and can evaluate samples in a non-contact manner. It can be used not only in laboratory design and concept phase, , Which is very suitable for the performance evaluation of MAS.
However, the free space measurement method has not been able to precisely and precisely measure the overall area of the sample, and has been limited in the evaluation of the whole area of the structure including complex shapes including curvature and various paints, materials and thicknesses.

S-parameters (scattering parameters) represent the reflection / transmission response to the signals of the network ports. The network may be any device under test, such as a passive antenna, active amplifier, or
7 is a diagram illustrating a two-port network in which a and b represent input and output signals, respectively. As shown in

When individual ports are terminated with matching / characteristic impedance, the individual S-parameters can be measured as shown in
(2) (2)
In the embodiment of the present invention, it has been described that the
The reflection coefficient (?) Of the

Here, Z fs , And Zmut is the impedance at the air-MUT interface.
The reflection loss in decibels (dB) can be used to evaluate the reflectivity of the MUT (10) as expressed in Equation (4).
(4) (4)
Therefore, Z mut must be calculated to evaluate the reflectance of the

Where c is the speed of light, f is frequency, and d is the complex permittivity given by (? '- j?' ' It is the thickness of the absorber.
3. 교정(Calibration)3. Calibration
Even if the components of the
VNA가 지원하는 여러 종류의 교정이 있으며, 각각 고유한 장점과 단점이 있지만, GRL(Gated Reflect Line) 교정은 TRL(Through-Line Reflect)과 RTM(Thru-Reflect-Match)과 같은 다른 자유 공간 교정 기법들 보다 우수한 결과를 보인다.Gated Reflect Line (GRL) calibrations can be used for other free space corrections such as Through-Line Reflect (TRL) and Thru-Reflect-Match (RTM), although there are several types of calibrations supported by the VNA, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Techniques.
GRL 교정을 위해서는 먼저 케이블 끝에서 SOLT(short-open-load-thru) 교정이 수행되어야 한다. For GRL calibration, short-open-load-thru (SOLT) calibration must be performed at the end of the cable. Next, the measurement parameters including the frequency span, the number of sweep points, the thickness of the metal plate, and the MUT are set. In addition, start and stop times for gating and gate characteristics should be set.
During calibration, an empty sample holder and a plate of known thickness are measured. For best results, the thickness of the metal plate used for calibration should be equal to the thickness of the MUT.
Since the antenna cable will not change later, the SOLT calibration is performed only once during system construction. However, due to the sensitive nature of the free space measurement, to obtain accurate results, the GRL calibration procedure must be performed each time before measurement.
Errors associated with free space measurements are mostly related to the diffraction effect at the edge of the

4.1 Aluminum plate
In order to verify the performance of the entire area MAS scanning system according to the embodiment of the present invention, an aluminum plate (width: 290 mm, height: 220 mm, thickness: 1.7 mm) was scanned. The inspection was performed using a sweep point of 801 in the X-band frequency range, with a scan area of 475 mm wide, 350 mm high and 25 mm spacing.
Fig. 8 is an aluminum specimen, and Fig. 9 is a spectrogram at 10.50 GHz for the aluminum specimen of Fig. Since the aluminum is a complete reflector of the microwave, the spectrogram clearly shows the
In order to show the frequency response at different points scanned, a point-wise view of the different points (1 to 4) shown in the spectrogram is shown in FIG.
Figure 10 (a) is a measurement in one point in the center of total reflection specimen, in the reflection loss is not observed at all, S 11 value is about 0dB in the whole X- band range.
Figures 10 (b) and 10 (c) show the measurement results at
Finally, Figure 10 (d) shows S 11, which is much lower than -30 dB over the entire frequency range, as a result of measurement at

ADD(Agency for Defense Development)에서 개발한 다층 복합 MAS(Multilayer Composite MAS)에 대해, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 전영역 MAS 스캐닝 시스템으로 마이크로파 반사/흡수 특성을 파악하였다.For the multilayer composite MAS developed by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD), the microwave reflection / absorption characteristics of the whole area MAS scanning system according to the embodiment of the present invention were grasped.
Multilayer Composite MAS (MAS) is composed of four layers. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 11, a periodically patterned carbon paste layer is positioned next to a polyimide (PI) layer, and then A glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) layer serving as a spacer, and finally a perfect electric conductor (PEC) layer made of copper.
12 is a photograph of a test environment of a multi-layer composite MAS. As shown in Fig. 12, the multi-layer composite MAS was bonded to an aluminum plate to form a MAS composed of different materials, and the brackets were not overlapped during the test. The test specimens consisted of a multilayer composite MAS section (width: 150 mm, height: 150 mm, thickness: 2.5 mm) on an aluminum plate (width: 600 mm, height: 600 mm, thickness: 4 mm) A scan condition of width 725 mm,
FIG. 13 shows still picture spectrograms (frames) of spectral video at various frequencies for a multi-layer composite MAS. At this frequency it can be seen from the spectrogram that the multilayer composite MAS has better absorbency than the surrounding aluminum part. This result also clearly shows the boundary between the multilayer composite MAS and the aluminum plate. The response at the bottom left of the spectrogram is from the bracket, not the response of the multilayer composite MAS. The spectrogram shown in FIG. 13 can be sequentially visualized for other frequencies in the X-band frequency range to provide a frame-wise view.
14 is a frequency response at the midpoint of a multi-layer composite MAS. As shown, the multi-layer composite MAS has a S 11 value of less than -10 dB at 9.9 GHz and exhibits a broadband frequency absorption characteristic with maximum absorption at the maximum frequency. Therefore, it can be seen that the resonance frequency of the multilayer composite MAS is outside the X-band.
