Referring to FIGS. 1B and 1C, the disclosed mobile terminal 100 includes a bar-shaped terminal body. However, the present invention is not limited thereto and can be applied to various structures such as a folder type, a flip type, a slide type, a swing type, and a swivel type in which a watch type, a clip type, a glass type or two or more bodies are relatively movably coupled . A description of a particular type of mobile terminal 100 will generally be applicable to other types of mobile terminals 100 as will be related to a particular type of mobile terminal.

Here, the terminal body can be understood as a concept of referring to the mobile terminal 100 as at least one aggregate.

The mobile terminal 100 includes a case (for example, a frame, a housing, a cover, and the like) that forms an appearance. In recent years, as the size of the display unit 151 has been increased, the display unit 151 has been mounted on the front surface of the mobile terminal 100. Accordingly, the front and rear cases can be mounted with various components between the front case and the rear case. And the glass 151a protecting the display unit 151 covers the entirety of the front surface of the mobile terminal.

FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of a mobile terminal according to the present invention, and may include a metal plate 220 supporting a back surface of the display unit 151. The display unit 151 is mounted on the front surface of the metal plate 220. Various components such as the printed circuit board 185 and the battery 191 are mounted on the rear surface of the rear case 102 and the battery cover 103, The metal plate 220 covers the part located on the rear surface of the metal plate 220 while being engaged with the rear surface of the metal plate 220.

The rear case 102 may cover the side surface of the metal plate 220. In the present invention, the middle case 210, which constitutes the side surface of the mobile terminal 100, is coupled to the periphery of the metal plate 220, Can be formed.

A display unit 151 is disposed on a front surface of the terminal body to output information. As shown, the window 151a may be coupled to the front surface of the case to form a front surface of the terminal body.

In some cases, electronic components may also be mounted on the rear case 102. Electronic parts that can be mounted on the rear case 102 include detachable batteries, an identification module, a memory card, and the like. In this case, a rear cover 103 for covering the mounted electronic components can be detachably coupled to the rear case 102. Therefore, when the rear cover 103 is separated from the rear case 102, the electronic parts mounted on the rear case 102 are exposed to the outside.

As shown, when the rear cover 103 is coupled to the rear case 102, a side portion of the rear case 102 can be exposed. In some cases, the rear case 102 may be completely covered by the rear cover 103 during the engagement. Meanwhile, the rear cover 103 may be provided with an opening for exposing the camera 121b and the sound output unit 152b to the outside.

These cases 210, 102 and 103 may be formed by injection molding of synthetic resin or may be formed of a metal such as stainless steel (STS), aluminum (Al), titanium (Ti) or the like.

When the case is made of metal, it can be used as an antenna. In order to use a case made of a metal material as an antenna, it is necessary to separate the case according to the performance of the radio signal.

The mobile terminal 100 may be configured such that one case provides the internal space, unlike the above example in which a plurality of cases provide an internal space for accommodating various electronic components. In this case, a universal mobile terminal 100 in which a synthetic resin or metal is connected from the side to the rear side can be realized.

Meanwhile, the mobile terminal 100 may include a waterproof unit (not shown) for preventing water from penetrating into the terminal body.

The mobile terminal 100 is provided with a display unit 151, first and second sound output units 152a and 152b, a proximity sensor 141, an illuminance sensor 142, a light output unit 154, Cameras 121a and 121b, first and second operation units 123a and 123b, a microphone 122, an interface unit 160, and the like.

1B and 1C, a display unit 151, a first sound output unit 152a, a proximity sensor 141, an illuminance sensor 142, an optical output unit (not shown) A second operation unit 123b, a microphone 122 and an interface unit 160 are disposed on a side surface of the terminal body, And a mobile terminal 100 having a second sound output unit 152b and a second camera 121b disposed on a rear surface thereof.

However, these configurations are not limited to this arrangement. These configurations may be excluded or replaced as needed, or placed on different planes. For example, the first operation unit 123a may not be provided on the front surface of the terminal body, and the second sound output unit 152b may be provided on the side surface of the terminal body rather than the rear surface of the terminal body.

The display unit 151 displays (outputs) information processed by the mobile terminal 100. For example, the display unit 151 may display execution screen information of an application program driven by the mobile terminal 100 or UI (User Interface) and GUI (Graphic User Interface) information according to the execution screen information .

The display unit 151 may be a liquid crystal display (LCD), a thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT LCD), an organic light-emitting diode (OLED), a flexible display display, a 3D display, and an e-ink display.

In addition, the display unit 151 may exist in two or more depending on the embodiment of the mobile terminal 100. In this case, the mobile terminal 100 may be provided with a plurality of display portions spaced apart from each other or disposed integrally with one another, or may be disposed on different surfaces, respectively.

The display unit 151 may include a touch sensor that senses a touch with respect to the display unit 151 so that a control command can be received by a touch method. When a touch is made to the display unit 151, the touch sensor senses the touch, and the control unit 180 generates a control command corresponding to the touch based on the touch. The content input by the touch method may be a letter or a number, an instruction in various modes, a menu item which can be designated, and the like.

The touch sensor may be a film having a touch pattern and disposed between the window 151a and a display (not shown) on the rear surface of the window 151a, or may be a metal wire . Alternatively, the touch sensor may be formed integrally with the display. For example, the touch sensor may be disposed on a substrate of the display or inside the display.

In this way, the display unit 151 can form a touch screen together with the touch sensor. In this case, the touch screen can function as a user input unit 123 (see FIG. 1A). In some cases, the touch screen may replace at least some functions of the first operation unit 123a.

The first sound output unit 152a may be implemented as a receiver for transmitting a call sound to a user's ear and the second sound output unit 152b may be implemented as a loud speaker for outputting various alarm sounds or multimedia playback sounds. ). ≪ / RTI >

The window 151a of the display unit 151 may be provided with an acoustic hole for emitting the sound generated from the first acoustic output unit 152a. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the sound may be configured to be emitted along an assembly gap (for example, a gap between the window 151a and the case) between the structures. In this case, the appearance of the mobile terminal 100 can be made more simple because the hole formed independently for the apparent acoustic output is hidden or hidden.

The optical output unit 154 is configured to output light for notifying the occurrence of an event. Examples of the event include a message reception, a call signal reception, a missed call, an alarm, a schedule notification, an email reception, and reception of information through an application. The control unit 180 may control the light output unit 154 to terminate the light output when the event confirmation of the user is detected.

The first camera 121a processes an image frame of a still image or a moving image obtained by the image sensor in the photographing mode or the video communication mode. The processed image frame can be displayed on the display unit 151 and can be stored in the memory 170. [

The first and second operation units 123a and 123b may be collectively referred to as a manipulating portion as an example of a user input unit 123 operated to receive a command for controlling the operation of the mobile terminal 100 have. The first and second operation units 123a and 123b can be employed in any manner as long as the user is in a tactile manner such as touch, push, scroll, or the like. In addition, the first and second operation units 123a and 123b may be employed in a manner that the user operates the apparatus without touching the user through a proximity touch, a hovering touch, or the like.

In this figure, the first operation unit 123a is a touch key, but the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the first operation unit 123a may be a mechanical key, or a combination of a touch key and a touch key.

The contents input by the first and second operation units 123a and 123b can be variously set. For example, the first operation unit 123a receives a command such as a menu, a home key, a cancellation, a search, and the like, and the second operation unit 123b receives a command from the first or second sound output unit 152a or 152b The size of the sound, and the change of the display unit 151 to the touch recognition mode.

On the other hand, a rear input unit (not shown) may be provided on the rear surface of the terminal body as another example of the user input unit 123. The rear input unit is operated to receive a command for controlling the operation of the mobile terminal 100, and input contents may be variously set. For example, commands such as power on / off, start, end, scrolling, and the like, the size adjustment of the sound output from the first and second sound output units 152a and 152b, And the like can be inputted. The rear input unit may be implemented as a touch input, a push input, or a combination thereof.

The rear input unit may be disposed so as to overlap with the front display unit 151 in the thickness direction of the terminal body. For example, the rear input unit may be disposed at the rear upper end of the terminal body such that when the user holds the terminal body with one hand, the rear input unit can be easily manipulated using the index finger. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the position of the rear input unit may be changed.

When a rear input unit is provided on the rear surface of the terminal body, a new type of user interface using the rear input unit can be realized. When the first operation unit 123a is not disposed on the front surface of the terminal body in place of at least a part of the functions of the first operation unit 123a provided on the front surface of the terminal body, The display unit 151 can be configured as a larger screen.

Meanwhile, the mobile terminal 100 may be provided with a fingerprint recognition sensor for recognizing the fingerprint of the user, and the controller 180 may use the fingerprint information sensed through the fingerprint recognition sensor as authentication means. The fingerprint recognition sensor may be embedded in the display unit 151 or the user input unit 123.

The microphone 122 is configured to receive the user's voice, other sounds, and the like. The microphone 122 may be provided at a plurality of locations to receive stereophonic sound.

The interface unit 160 may be implemented as a socket for receiving an external card such as a SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) or a UIM (User Identity Module) or a memory card for storing information.

And a second camera 121b may be disposed on a rear surface of the terminal body. In this case, the second camera 121b has a photographing direction which is substantially opposite to that of the first camera 121a.

The second camera 121b may include a plurality of lenses arranged along at least one line. The plurality of lenses may be arranged in a matrix form. Such a camera can be named an 'array camera'. When the second camera 121b is configured as an array camera, images can be taken in various ways using a plurality of lenses, and a better quality image can be obtained.

The flash 124 may be disposed adjacent to the second camera 121b. The flash 124 shines light toward the subject when the subject is photographed by the second camera 121b.

And a second sound output unit 152b may be additionally disposed in the terminal body. The second sound output unit 152b may implement a stereo function together with the first sound output unit 152a and may be used for implementing a speakerphone mode in a call.

The terminal body may be provided with at least one antenna for wireless communication. The antenna may be embedded in the terminal body or formed in the case. For example, an antenna constituting a part of the broadcast receiving module 111 (see FIG. 1A) may be configured to be able to be drawn out from the terminal body. Alternatively, the antenna may be formed in a film type and attached to the inner surface of the rear cover 103, or a case including a conductive material may be configured to function as an antenna.

The terminal body is provided with a power supply unit 190 (see FIG. 1A) for supplying power to the mobile terminal 100. The power supply unit 190 may include a battery 191 built in the terminal body or detachable from the outside of the terminal body.

The battery 191 may be configured to receive power through a power cable connected to the interface unit 160. In addition, the battery 191 may be configured to be wirelessly chargeable through a wireless charger. The wireless charging may be implemented by a magnetic induction method or a resonance method (magnetic resonance method).

The rear cover 103 is configured to be coupled to the rear case 102 so as to cover the battery 191 to restrict the release of the battery 191 and to protect the battery 191 from external impact and foreign matter . When the battery 191 is detachably attached to the terminal body, the rear cover 103 may be detachably coupled to the rear case 102.

The mobile terminal 100 may be provided with an accessory that protects the appearance or supports or expands the function of the mobile terminal 100. [ One example of such an accessory is a cover or pouch that covers or accommodates at least one side of the mobile terminal 100. [ The cover or pouch may be configured to interlock with the display unit 151 to expand the function of the mobile terminal 100. Another example of an accessory is a touch pen for supplementing or extending a touch input to the touch screen.

Hereinafter, embodiments related to a control method that can be implemented in the mobile terminal 100 configured as above will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof.

The middle case 210 including the metal material is exposed to the outside and a process of smoothing the surface is added to increase the gloss of the appearance. There are NC machining, sanding and physical vapor deposition (PVD) methods to smooth the metal surface.

Numerical control work is a method of performing surface treatment using a computer or a laser or a cutting tool. The sanding process can polish the surface of the middle case 210 processed by the sanding method in which the surface is smoothed by using an abrasive. The physical vapor deposition method is divided into a vacuum vapor deposition method and a sputtering method in which a material gasified in a vacuum is coated on the surface.

However, when manufactured by the above method, the roughness of the surface is large, resulting in a metallic surface that is closer to matte than glossy. The most efficient way to provide a lustrous metal surface is by rolling. 3 (a) is a view for explaining a rolling method. Rolling is also referred to as rolling, and a long member can be formed in one direction by pushing metal through a plurality of rolls. When metal is processed by the rolling method, the texture of the metal becomes dense and the gloss is increased.

Fig. 4 is a graph showing the roughness of the metal surface processed by the rolling method. Ra (arithmetic average roughness) is 0.1 mu m and RqMax (maximum point height) is 0.2 mu m. Ra (arithmetic average roughness) is a value obtained by finding the sum of the areas of the entire upper and lower parts of the average line of the measurement section, and dividing the sum by the length of the measurement section. The larger the value, the more uneven the surface is. Smaller means have a uniform surface.

Rqmax (maximum point height) means the interval between two straight lines parallel to the mean line of the measurement section including all surface elements of the measurement section. The larger the value, the more uneven the surface, and the smaller the value, ≪ / RTI >

Therefore, when the rolling process is performed, the texture is dense and the surface is pressed by the roll to smooth the surface, so that the Ra value is less than 0.2 μm and the Rqmax value is less than 0.4 μm.

When the surface is processed by the sanding method, the surface roughness Ra is 0.5 탆, RqMax is 0.6 탆, Ra is 0.3 탆 and RqMax is 0.5 탆 when using the NC machining method. Ra of 0.5 mu m and RqMax of 0.6 mu m when surface-treated by the physical vapor deposition method. That is, a surface having a lower roughness than that of other surface treatment methods can be formed at the time of manufacturing by the rolling method, and a surface having excellent gloss can be provided.

The rolling method is suitable for forming a long member in the direction in which the roll is rotated. It is suitable for producing a plate or bar-shaped metal member. When manufactured by the rolling method, a uniform cross section is obtained, and a bar member having a cross section as shown in FIG. 3 (b) can be manufactured by the rolling method.

However, the middle case 210 of the present invention is not a bar type or a plate type but has a rectangular shape which surrounds the periphery of the mobile terminal 100, which is difficult to manufacture by the rolling method. Accordingly, the present invention proposes a method of manufacturing a middle case 210 by processing a bar type member manufactured by the rolling method.

5 to 9 are process diagrams showing steps of manufacturing the mobile terminal 100 of the present invention.

The long bar-shaped rolling bar 200 can be manufactured by the rolling method as shown in FIG. The cross section of the rolling bar 200 may be formed in the same shape, one side may be formed as a smooth surface 201, and the other side may be provided with concavities and convexities 212 and 213. One surface 201 of the smooth surface is exposed to the outside of the mobile terminal 100 and the other surface on which the indentations 202 and 203 are formed is used in coupling with another member.

The concavities and convexities 202 and 203 include a support portion 202 protruding in the middle portion, and the concavities and convexities 203 other than the support portion 202 protrude shorter than the support portion. The supporting portion 202 is used to engage with the metal plate 220 and the other concave and convex portions 203 are formed to increase the coupling force with the injection molded body 240 to be described later.

Referring to FIG. 6, the rolling bar 200 manufactured by the rolling method is folded to form a frame-like middle case 210. As shown in FIG. 6, both ends of the rolling bar 200 can be disposed at a portion where an opening is formed in the middle case 210, such as an interface unit 160 and an earphone plug.

The inner surface of the middle case 210 can be partially cut off (216) by a laser or NC machining method as shown in Fig. 6 for arranging and joining with other members, or a hole 217 can be formed. A portion (218, ear jack hole, etc.) that requires penetration inside the outer side can be machined together.

And the metal plate 220 is coupled to a hollow portion inside the middle case 210. Since the metal plate 220 supports the back surface of the display unit 151 and serves as a ground for the antenna, the plate-shaped member can be processed. The metal plate 220 can be fastened using the engaging portion 222 located at the end of the metal plate 220 and the pin 230 passing through the support portion 2102 of the middle case 210.

The pins 230 may be coupled using a soldering method or an adhesive. When the soldering or the adhesive is used, a liquid material is put between the supporting part 2102 and the coupling part 222 and is cured to bond the liquid material. It is necessary to prevent it from coming out. A bonding groove 2104 may be formed in the supporting portion 2102 as shown in FIG. 9 to prevent the bonding groove 2104 from escaping to another portion of the bonding groove 2104 when a liquid material such as an adhesive is required.

The end of the metal plate 220 coupled with the middle case 210 forms a step 223 corresponding to the shape of the support 2102 of the middle case 210 as shown in FIG. 2102, respectively, as shown in FIG. The engaging portion 222 is seated in the support portion 2102 of the middle case 210 and the flat portion 221 of the metal plate 220 is positioned in the inner empty space of the middle case 210.

When the end of the metal plate 220 is folded, not only the rigidity of the metal plate 220 becomes stronger but also a wide internal space can be provided. 9 showing the AA cross section of the mobile terminal 100 according to the present invention, a back side (lower side in the figure) where the display portion 151 is disposed is arranged in the back surface direction in which the printed circuit board 185 and the battery 191 are mounted (Upper part in the drawing), it is possible to provide more component mounting space.

8 is a view showing a state in which the antenna unit 211 is formed after the metal plate 220 and the middle case 210 are coupled. A slit 215 is formed in the middle case 210 to separate the antenna portion 211 from the other portion 212 in order to use a part of the middle case 210 as a radiator of the antenna. The antenna unit 211 is attached to the metal plate 220 through the provisional connection unit 225 because the antenna unit 211 is separated and repositioned when the slit 215 is formed before the connection with the metal plate 220. [ It is possible to prevent the antenna unit 211 from being separated by machining the slit 215.

Since the middle case 210 and the metal plate 220 are both made of metal, the joined portions are electrically connected. The antenna unit 211, which is partially separated from the metal plate 220, may be spaced apart from the metal plate 220 as shown in FIG. The temporary connection part 225 connecting the antenna part 211 and the metal plate 220 may be removed in a subsequent process and separated from the remaining part of the antenna part 211, the metal plate 220 and the middle case 210 have.

Next, as shown in FIG. 10, resin may be injected between the metal plate 220 and the middle case 210 to form an injection 240. By using the injection molded product 240, the region is partitioned so that various components can be stably mounted, and the coupling between the metal plate 220 and the middle case 210 is reinforced. The injection product 240 is injected into the hole 217 formed in the supporting part 2102 and the coupling force between the middle case 210 and the injection product 240 is improved.

The rear case 102 is coupled to the rear surface of the metal plate 220 and the middle case 220 by using the boss 235 when the rear case is coupled to the rear surface, (Not shown).

The resin may be injected into the slit 215 cut to form the antenna 211 in the middle case 210 so that the molded product 240 is partially exposed to the outside. A resin having a color similar to the color of the metal may be used so that the externally exposed molded product 240 is not conspicuous.

11 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line B-B of Fig. 10, showing a method of removing the temporary connection portion 225 between the antenna and the metal plate 220. Fig. As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11 (a), the temporary connection part 225 may be partially exposed to the outside of the injection molded article 240. The temporary connecting portion 225 exposed to the outside of the molded product 240 may be removed as shown in FIG. 11B to electrically separate the antenna portion 211 and the metal plate 220. If desired, some of the temporary connections 225 may be left unremoved for grounding.

After the middle case 210 and the metal plate 220 are fastened by the above method, the display unit 151 is mounted on the front surface, the printed circuit board 185 and the battery 191 are inserted into the rear surface, 102 and the battery cover 103 are combined with each other to complete the mobile terminal 100.

As described above, according to at least one embodiment of the present invention, the middle case 210 exposed to the side surface can be manufactured in a rolling manner, thereby providing a case with improved gloss.

The foregoing detailed description should not be construed in all aspects as limiting and should be considered illustrative. The scope of the present invention should be determined by rational interpretation of the appended claims, and all changes within the scope of equivalents of the present invention are included in the scope of the present invention.
