Description
The present invention relates to a battery module with improved cooling efficiency.
As information technology (IT) technology has developed remarkably, various portable information and communication devices have been spreading, so that the 21st century is being developed into a "ubiquitous society" capable of providing high quality information services regardless of time and place.
In the development base for such a ubiquitous society, a secondary battery occupies an important position. Specifically, the rechargeable secondary cell is widely used as an energy source for wireless mobile devices, and is proposed as a solution for air pollution in existing gasoline vehicles and diesel vehicles using fossil fuels Electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and the like.
2. Description of the Related Art [0002] In a middle- or large-sized device such as an automobile, a middle- or large-sized battery module in which a plurality of battery cells are electrically connected is used due to the necessity of high output large capacity.
Since such a middle- or large-sized battery module is preferably manufactured with a small size and weight, a prismatic battery, a pouch-type battery, and the like, which can be stacked with a high degree of integration and have a small weight to capacity, . In particular, a pouch-shaped battery using an aluminum laminate sheet or the like as an exterior member has recently attracted a lot of attention due to its advantages such as small weight, low manufacturing cost, and easy shape deformation.
Since the battery cells constituting such a middle- or large-sized battery module are constituted by a rechargeable secondary battery, such a high-output large-capacity secondary battery generates a large amount of heat in the charging and discharging process. Particularly, since a laminate sheet of a pouch-type battery widely used for a high output large-capacity battery module is coated with a polymer material having a low thermal conductivity, it is difficult to effectively cool the temperature of the entire battery cell.
If the heat of the battery module generated during the charging and discharging process can not be effectively removed, heat accumulation may occur, thereby accelerating deterioration of the battery module, and possibly causing ignition or explosion. Therefore, a high-capacity, large-capacity battery pack requires a cooling system that sufficiently cools the battery cells built therein.
Generally, a battery module mounted on a middle- or large-sized battery pack is manufactured by stacking a plurality of battery cells at a high density, and adjacent battery cells are stacked at a predetermined interval so as to remove heat generated during charging and discharging. For example, the battery cells themselves may be sequentially stacked while being spaced apart from each other by a predetermined space, or in the case of a battery cell having low mechanical rigidity, one or a combination of two or more batteries may be built in a cartridge or the like. The battery module can be configured. The stacked battery cells or the battery modules have a structure in which coolant flow passages are formed between the battery cells or the battery modules so as to effectively remove accumulated heat.
However, this structure has a problem that the total size of the battery module is increased because a plurality of refrigerant flow paths must be secured corresponding to a plurality of battery cells. In addition, as the number of battery cells is increased, a number of parts are added in relation to the cooling structure, thereby increasing the volume of the battery module, complicating the manufacturing process, and increasing manufacturing costs.
In addition to the overall problem of the cooling system, in the case of the cooling system using the cooling fin, the heat generated inside the battery cell is conducted to the refrigerant passage through the members other than the cooling fin, but due to the contact resistance between the cooling fin and the members There is a problem that efficient cooling is not achieved.
Accordingly, there is a high need for a battery module that can be manufactured in a simple and compact structure while providing a high power, large capacity power, and has excellent life characteristics and stability due to high cooling efficiency.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to solve the above-mentioned problems of the prior art and the technical problems required from the past.
More specifically, it is an object of the present invention to provide a cooling structure in which unit modules, in which a part of outer surfaces of cooling fins in contact with a battery cell are in direct contact with a heat sink, are mounted on a cooling frame, So as to improve the cooling efficiency and to provide a battery module having a compact structure.
According to an aspect of the present invention,
1. A battery module comprising at least two unit modules in which at least one battery cell is interposed between a pair of cooling fins,
상기 단위모듈들은 순차적인 배열을 이루면서, 상면에 장착 수납부들이 형성되어 있는 냉각 프레임에 각각 수직으로 장착되어 있고;Wherein the unit modules are arranged in a sequential arrangement and are respectively mounted vertically on a cooling frame having mounting seats on an upper surface thereof;
상기 냉각 프레임의 하면에는 접촉된 상태로 히트 싱크가 위치하며;A heat sink is positioned in contact with the lower surface of the cooling frame;
At least one or more mounting compartments of the mounting compartments are provided with one or more openings, and at least a part of the cooling fins of the unit modules are in direct contact with the heat sink through the openings.
That is, in the battery module according to the present invention, at least a part of the outer surfaces of the cooling fins in contact with the battery cell are in direct contact with the heat sink, so that heat generated in the battery cells can be conducted directly to the heat sink through the cooling fins, And can provide a generally compact structure.
In one specific example, the battery cell is not particularly limited, but is preferably formed of a plate-shaped battery cell so as to provide a high lamination ratio in a limited space, and is laminated so that one surface or both surfaces of the battery cell face each other And a structure for forming a battery cell laminate. Such a plate-shaped battery cell may have a structure in which positive and negative terminals are protruded on one side of the outer circumferential surface, or a positive terminal is protruded on one side of the outer circumferential surface and a negative terminal is protruded on the opposite side.
