The image display apparatus changes the display state of the first pattern according to the input adjustment value (step 123).
Meanwhile, according to the embodiment of the present invention, the display state of the second pattern is not changed according to the adjustment value, and can be displayed in a fixed state on the display screen.
The first and second patterns represent image data stored in a memory inside the image display device before the image processing for display is performed, for example, the state in which the pattern is displayed is displayed on the screen for image quality adjustment, , ≪ / RTI > two patterns may be displayed and visually recognized by the user.
For example, the first pattern may be image-processed according to the adjustment value input by the user, and the state of being displayed on the screen may be changed by changing the adjustment value. More specifically, The brightness, contrast, color density, tint, sharpness, or backlight brightness of one pattern may be changed.
That is, the change of the display state of the first pattern means that the image quality of the first pattern visually recognized by the user is displayed on the screen, more specifically, the image quality characteristic corresponding to the specific image quality item to be adjusted is changed can do.
For example, in the case of adjusting the brightness, which is one of a plurality of image quality items, the brightness of a first region displayed on the screen or a specific region included in the first pattern may be changed according to the input adjustment value have.
In addition, for each of the plurality of image quality items, the first pattern displayed at the time of image quality adjustment may be different.
That is, the brightness, contrast, color density, tint, sharpness, backlight brightness, shape, or size of the first pattern displayed when the image quality is adjusted may be different for each of the plurality of image quality items.
The first pattern displayed when adjusting the image quality of the first item among the plurality of image quality items and the first pattern displayed when the image quality of the second item is adjusted may be different from each other in the image quality corresponding to the first item.
For example, the first pattern displayed when the brightness is adjusted and the first pattern displayed when the contrast is adjusted may be different from each other.
The first pattern displayed when the image quality of the first item is adjusted and the first pattern displayed when the image quality of the second item is adjusted may be the same as those of the third item among the plurality of image quality items have.
For example, the first pattern displayed when the brightness is adjusted and the first pattern displayed when the contrast is adjusted may have the same color displayed on the screen.

That is, the brightness, contrast, color density, tint, sharpness, or backlight brightness of the second pattern displayed on the screen and visually recognized by the user can be kept constant regardless of the input adjustment value.
The second pattern may be an image quality adjustment target according to the present invention, for example, such that the display state of the first pattern coincides with the display state of the second pattern.
That is, according to the embodiment of the present invention, the display state of the first pattern, which changes according to the input adjustment value, is made to coincide with the display state of the second pattern, The image quality of the apparatus can be adjusted.
For this purpose, the second pattern may include an image generated so as to have a standard image quality. As described above, the image of the second pattern is fixed without being changed according to the input adjustment value so as to be a reference for image quality adjustment .
The standard image quality refers to an image quality of an image display device capable of displaying an input image signal as it is. The second pattern may be generated so as to have the standard image quality as described above and then stored in a memory inside the image display device. In order to fix the display state unlike the first pattern, which is changed according to the adjustment value, The
The standard image quality of the second pattern may be set differently depending on the manufacturer of the image display apparatus, the region to be used, and the like.
Also, for each of the plurality of image quality items that can be adjusted, the second pattern displayed upon image quality adjustment may be different.
That is, the brightness, contrast, color density, tint, sharpness, backlight brightness or shape of the second pattern displayed when the image quality is adjusted may be different for each of the plurality of image quality items.
The second pattern displayed when the image quality of the first item of the plurality of image quality items is adjusted and the second pattern displayed when the image quality of the second item is adjusted may be different from each other in the state of image quality corresponding to the first item.
For example, the second pattern displayed when the brightness is adjusted and the second pattern displayed when the contrast is adjusted may have different brightness states.
The second pattern displayed when the image quality of the first item is adjusted and the second pattern displayed when the image quality of the second item is adjusted may be the same as those of the third item among the plurality of image quality items have.
For example, the second pattern displayed when the brightness is adjusted and the second pattern displayed when the contrast is adjusted may have the same color displayed on the screen.
그 후, 영상 표시 장치는 상기 제1 패턴이 디스플레이되는 상태가 상기 제2 패턴의 디스플레이 상태와 일치하는지 여부를 확인한다(124 단계).Thereafter, the image display apparatus confirms whether the state in which the first pattern is displayed matches the display state of the second pattern (operation 124).
According to the embodiment of the present invention, it is preferable that the first and second patterns are displayed on the display screen and the user judges whether or not the display states of the first and second patterns are visually matched.
Therefore, the display states of the first and second patterns are coincident with each other. That is, not only when the first and second patterns are displayed on the screen objectively, for example, The first and second patterns are displayed on the screen and visually recognized by the user are coincident with each other.
That is, the embodiment of the present invention provides the image quality adjustment method adaptable to the user by matching the first pattern with the second pattern of the standard image quality when viewed from the user's viewpoint, The judgment as to when the display states coincide may be different from each other.
Accordingly, the video display apparatus according to the embodiment of the present invention allows the user to visually judge whether or not the display states of the first and second patterns are coincident with each other, If it is determined that the display states of the first and second patterns match, the adjustment value can be set.

If the display states of the first and second patterns do not match as a result of the checking in
또한, 상기 제1, 2 패턴의 디스플레이 상태가 일치하는 경우, 영상 표시 장치는 상기 입력된 조정값을 설정한다(125 단계).If the display states of the first and second patterns match, the image display device sets the input adjustment value (operation 125).
That is, when the user judges that the display states of the first and second patterns are visually matched and performs an input corresponding thereto, the image display apparatus sets the adjustment value to the first value inputted at the corresponding time point, Can be performed.

In this case, as the adjustment value is changed, the display state of the
The display state of the
As shown in FIG. 6, an adjustment value display OSD (On Screen Display) may be displayed on the
On the other hand, the adjustment value display OSD may include a
The
Meanwhile, according to the embodiment of the present invention, the display state of the
That is, the

6, the

As described above, the position of the

Also, as the
On the other hand, as the
As described above, the image quality adjustment method according to the embodiment of the present invention is performed sequentially for each of the image quality items such as brightness, contrast, color density, tint, sharpness, or backlight brightness .
Hereinafter, an embodiment of an image quality adjustment method according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 9 to 29. FIG.
FIG. 9 illustrates an embodiment of a user interface (UI) provided to a user to select a picture quality adjustment method.
Referring to FIG. 9, a
For example, the user may select one of the standard image quality adjustment and the preferred image quality adjustment that can be displayed on the
When the user selects any one of the preference picture quality adjustments during the standard picture quality adjustment on the
10 shows an embodiment of a method of adjusting the brightness of an image display apparatus. A description of the same structure as that described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 9 of the configuration shown in FIG. 10 will be omitted below do.
On the other hand, the brightness of the image display apparatus can be adjusted according to a predetermined method, that is, a standard image quality adjustment method, irrespective of the image quality adjustment method selected by the user.
Referring to FIG. 10,
The image signal input from the outside is processed by the
For example, if the user sets the brightness to a small value (the brightness adjustment value is set to be small), the black areas of the image may not be distinguished from each other. If the user sets the brightness to a large value The white areas in the image may not be distinguished from each other.
That is, when the adjustment value of the image brightness is set to be small in the image display apparatus, the color reproducibility of the black regions of the image may deteriorate. On the contrary, when the brightness adjustment value is set large, Color reproducibility may be deteriorated.
According to the image quality adjustment method according to the embodiment of the present invention, the brightness of an image displayed on the
Referring to FIG. 10, the
More specifically, the
The brightness of the
Here, when the color reproduction is 8 bits, the brightness of the color can be displayed in the gradation of 0 to 255, and the color reproduction is performed for the gradation of 16 to 235 according to the image quality standard. In this case, when the 16 gray levels which are the darkest black are set to 0 IRE, the gray level of 8 can be set to -4 IRE and the gray level of 24 can be set to +4 IRE.
That is, when the brightness of the image is set to the standard image quality, the 8-gradation image data and the 16-gradation image data are displayed so as not to be distinguished on the
That is, the brightness difference between the
Referring to FIG. 12, the case where the brightness of the image is not set to the standard image quality is shown as 4a and 4c, and the standard image quality is shown as 4b.
The adjustment of the brightness of the image changes the y-intercept of the straight line in the graph as shown in Fig. 12, and when the brightness increases, the y-intercept of the straight line increases and when the brightness decreases, the y- .
When the brightness level is set to a straight line of 4a or a straight line of 4c, the color reproducibility with respect to the black or white gradation becomes poor. In the case of the
According to the image quality adjusting method according to the embodiment of the present invention, brightness can be adjusted so that gradations from 0 IRE to 100 IRE are displayed on the
That is, the case where the color reproduction is 8 bits, the 16 gradations are 0 IRE, and the 235 gradation is 100 IRE can be defined as the standard image quality. In the standard image quality, when the image data is less than 16 gradations, , And when the image data exceeds 235 gradations, it can be displayed on the
The configuration of the

For this purpose, the

20 to 22 show an embodiment of a method of adjusting the sharpness of an image display apparatus according to the standard image quality adjusting method. In FIGS. 20 to 22, The description of the same things as those described with reference to FIG.
According to the embodiment of the present invention, the display state of the vertical line displayed in the
Referring to FIG. 21, in order to enhance the sharpness of an image, it is possible to improve sharpness in the vicinity of an area having a high frequency component such as an edge or a texture of a original signal. When the original signal is passed through a high-frequency band-pass filter, a signal of the same type as that of 12B in FIG. 21 is obtained. By applying 'Coring' or 'Thresholding' to this signal, a filtering error Can be removed.
When the high-frequency component is multiplied by the weight and then added to the original signal, a signal having the same sharpness as that of 12B shown in Fig. 21 is finally obtained.
That is, an artificial overshoot or undershoot occurs in the original signal, and the transition width is reduced, thereby increasing the sharpness. The larger the weight value is, the more the high frequency component is amplified so that the sharpness is further increased.
However, if the weight value is set to a large value, sharpness is improved, but peaking occurs on the screen, and ultimately the user is highly likely to be perceived as an image including an unpleasant noise.
According to the embodiment of the present invention, when the sharpness adjustment value input from the user is changed, the weights multiplied by the high frequency band of the video signal as described above are changed, and the sharpness of the line displayed in the
For example, as the input horizontal sharpness adjustment value increases, the weight increases and the sharpness of the vertical line displayed in the
When the horizontal sharpness of the image is set to the standard image quality, the vertical line displayed in the

For this purpose, the
