Description
본 발명은 산란 부재 및 이를 포함하는 유기 발광 표시 장치에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 시인성 및 광 추출 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 산란 부재 및 이를 포함하는 유기 발광 표시 장치에 관한 것이다.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a scattering member and an organic light emitting diode display including the same, and more particularly, to a scattering member capable of improving visibility and light extraction efficiency and an OLED display including the same.
정보 통신 기술의 비약적인 발전과 함께 디스플레이 소자로 평판표시장치(Flat Panel Display)가 각광받고 있다. 이러한 평판표시장치는 액정표시장치(Liquid Crystal Display), 플라즈마표시장치(Plasma Display Panel) 및 유기 발광 표시 장치(Organic Light Emitting Device) 등이 대표적이다. Flat panel displays are gaining popularity as display devices along with the rapid development of information and communication technologies. Such a flat panel display device is typically a liquid crystal display (LCD), a plasma display panel (PDP), and an organic light emitting display device.
Among them, the organic light emitting display device has a wide viewing angle and a fast response speed, so that a high-quality display can be realized. The organic light emitting display includes a substrate, a first electrode having a light-transmitting property formed on the substrate, an organic layer formed on the first electrode, and a second electrode formed on the organic layer and having a high reflectance. Here, a glass substrate or a plastic substrate is usually used as the substrate. And the organic material layer includes a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, a light generation layer, a hole blocking layer, and an electron transport layer. That is, a plurality of organic material layers are laminated between the first electrode and the second electrode, thereby manufacturing an organic light emitting display having a multilayer structure.
On the other hand, the organic light emitting display device has a problem that the display visibility of the organic light emitting display device is significantly deteriorated due to reflection action by light incident from the outside. Conventionally, a quarter wave polarizer (QWP) and a polarizing film are laminated on one side of the light-transmitting first electrode (side where the organic material layer is not formed) to suppress the reflection action of light incident from the outside.
하지만, 종래의 방법으로는 외부 입사광의 반사 작용은 억제되나, 편광판에 의한 유기 발광 표시 장치의 발광효율이 하락하는 문제가 있다.However, in the conventional method, the reflection action of external incident light is suppressed, but there is a problem that the luminous efficiency of the organic light emitting diode display by the polarizing plate is lowered.
Korean Patent Laid-Open No. 10-2009-0101628 discloses an EL light emitting display device, an external light transmitting plate provided on the EL light emitting display device, and an external light transmitting plate disposed between the EL light emitting display device and the external light transmitting plate, And a retardation layer formed of a liquid crystal polymer having birefringence between the polarizing film and the EL light emitting display element.

According to the embodiments of the present invention, the scattering layer and the polarizing film are laminated on the light emitting layer, thereby improving visibility and light extraction efficiency. Thus, it is possible to manufacture a display device having an improved screen quality as compared with the related art. In addition, since light having a higher luminance than the conventional one can be extracted with the same power, there is an advantage that the power consumption is reduced as compared with the conventional technique. In addition, it is possible to prevent the lifetime of the light emitting layer from being shortened due to deterioration due to power use.

Referring to FIG. 1, an OLED display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a
In this case, the first electrode 120 for the positive electrode is formed of a translucent material, the
The
The
A method of converting the size of a polygonal particle into a sphere shape and providing the diameter thereof is used in various optical or non-optical measuring instruments, and a detailed description thereof will be omitted.
산란체(220)의 직경에 따른 시인성 및 광 방출 효율 향상 효과에 대한 설명은 이하에서 하기로 한다.The effect of improving the visibility and the light emission efficiency according to the diameter of the
The
Light (dotted line) (hereinafter referred to as element-generated light) generated from the light-emitting layer of the light-emitting
As described above, the
As described above, the
Hereinafter, a case of forward scattering will be described with reference to FIGS. 3A and 3B, for example. As shown in FIG. 3A, when external incident light is incident on the
3b에 도시된 바와 같이 발광층(100)에서 방출된 광은 투광성의 제 1 전극(120)을 투과하여 산란층(200)으로 입사된다. 산란층(200)으로 입사된 소자 발생광은 산란체(220)에 의해 산란되는데, 소자 발생광이 산란층으로 입사된 입사 방향과 동일한 방향에 해당하는 편광 필름(300) 방향으로 산란 된다.3b, the light emitted from the
이와 같은 전방 산란은 전술한 바와 같이 산란체(220)의 직경이 200nm 내지 1000nm 일 때 발생 된다. 그리고, 후방 산란에 비해 전방 산란이 일어날 경우, 산란체(220)에 의해 산란되는 횟수가 증가되며, 이로 인해 외광 차단 효율(시인성) 및 소자 발생광 추출 효율이 향상된다.This forward scattering occurs when the diameter of the
Next, referring to FIG. 4A, the case of back scattering will be described as an example. When external incident light is incident on the
또한, 4b에 도시된 바와 같이 발광층(100)에서 방출된 광은 산란층(200)으로 입사되어 산란체(220)에 의해 산란되며, 이때 발광층(100)에서 산란층(200)으로 입사된 입사 방향과 반대 방향에 해당하는 발광층(100) 방향으로 산란(후방 산란)된다. 즉, 발광층으로부터 발생된 광이 외부로 방출되지 못하고 그 내부에 흡수된다.4b, the light emitted from the
이와 같은 후방 산란은 산란체(220)의 직경이 200nm 미만일 경우 나타난다. 보다 상세히 설명하면, 산란체(220)의 직경이 200nm 미만의 범위 내에서 그 직경이 작아질수록, 점차 후방 산란이 강해지며, 그 결과 전방위 산란이 일어나게 된다.This back scattering occurs when the diameter of the
또한, 별도로 도시되지는 않았지만, 산란체(220)의 크기가 1000nm를 초과하도록 너무 커지는 경우, 광이 산란체(220) 내부까지 입사된 후, 굴절됨에 따라 전방위 산란이 일어난다. 즉, 산란체(220)의 크기가 100nm를 초과하면, 광이 상기 상란체(220)을 투과하면서 굴절이 일어나게 되며, 그 결과 전방위 산란이 일어난다In addition, although not shown separately, when the size of the
따라서, 후방 산란이 주 산란이거나, 전방위 산란의 경우, 실시예에서와 같이 전방 산란이 주 산란인 경우에 비해 시인성 및 광 추출 효율이 하락되는 문제가 있다.Therefore, when the backscattering is the main scattering or the omnidirectional scattering, the visibility and the light extraction efficiency are lowered compared to the case where the forward scattering is the main scattering as in the embodiment.
이하, 실시예에서는 200nm 내지 1000nm를 가지는 산란체(220)를 구비하는 산란층(200)을 제조한다.Hereinafter, in the embodiment, a
제 1 실예에서는 산란층의 상부에 바로 편광 필름(300)을 형성하는 것을 예를 들어 설명하였다. 하지만, 이에 한정되지 않고, 위상차 필름(Quarter wave polarizer; QWP)을 추가 형성할 수 있다.In the first embodiment, for example, the
도 5는 본 발명의 제 2 실시예에 따른 유기 발광 표시 장치를 도시한 단면도이다. 도 6은 본 발명의 제 2 실시예에 따른 유기 발광 표시 장치에서 외부 입사광 및 소자 방출광의 광 이동 경로를 설명하기 위한 단면도이다.5 is a cross-sectional view illustrating an OLED display according to a second embodiment of the present invention. 6 is a cross-sectional view illustrating an optical path of external incident light and device-emitted light in the organic light emitting diode display according to the second embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 5, the scattering
하기에서는 도 6을 참조하여, 제 2 실시예에 따른 유기 발광 표시 장치에서의 외부 입사광과 소자 발생광의 이동 경로를 설명한다.Hereinafter, with reference to FIG. 6, a description will be given of a traveling path of external incident light and element-generated light in the organic light emitting diode display according to the second embodiment.
Linearly polarized light such as Y-axis polarized light in a specific direction is absorbed by the
따라서, 제 2 실시예에서는 산란층에서의 전방 산란과 위상차 필름(400)에 의한 위상 지연 요소에 의해 제 1 실시예에 비해 향상된 시인성 향상 효과를 얻을 수 있다,.Therefore, in the second embodiment, the forward scattering in the scattering layer and the phase delay element by the
Next, the moving distance of the element-generated light generated from the light-emitting
하기에서는 도 1 내지 4를 참조하여, 제 1 실시예에 따른 유기 발광 표시 장치의 제조 방법을 설명한다. 이때, 본 실시예에서는 유기 발광 표시 장치의 제조 방법을 예를 들어 설명한다.Hereinafter, a method of manufacturing the OLED display according to the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. At this time, in this embodiment, a method of manufacturing an organic light emitting display device will be described by way of example.
First, the
When the first electrode 120 is formed on the substrate, an
이후, 유기물 레이어(110) 상에 음전극 용 제 2 전극(130)을 형성한다. 실시예에서는 열증착방법으로 LiF-Al, Mg:Ag, Ca-Ag 등의 금속을 증착하여, 유기물 레이어(110)에서 방출된 광이 반사될 수 있도록 하는 반사율을 가지도록 제 2 전극(130)을 형성한다.Then, a
이와 같이 제 1 전극(120), 유기물 레이어(110) 및 제 2 전극(130)으로 이루어진 발광층(100)의 제조 공정이 종료되면, 상기 제 1 전극(120) 상에 산란층(200)을 형성한다.When the manufacturing process of the
이를 위해 먼저 산란체(220)를 제조한다. 즉, 유기물 레진 예컨대, 폴리머(polymer) 또는 모노머(monomer)에 ZrO2로 이루어진 파티클과 표면 개질제를 투입한 후, 혼합한다. 표면 개질제는 예컨대, 중합체성 분산제(polymeric dispersant)이며, ZrO2는 1wt% 내지 30 wt% 포함되도록 혼합되는 것이 바람직하다To this end, the
When the mixing step of the organic resin, particles, and surface modifier is completed, the mixture is put into a dispersing machine (bead mill) to perform pulverization and dispersion. At this time, the particles are separated into a plurality of objects by the pulverizing and dispersing process, and the object is the
Thereafter, the produced
Then, an adhesive is applied on the
도 5에 도시된 제 2 실험예에 따른 유기 발광 표시 장치에 제조 방법에서는 산란층을 형성한 후, 편광 필름(300)을 부착하기 전에 위상차 필름(400)을 부착하는 공정이 추가된다. 이때, 별도의 접착제를 산란체(220) 상에 도포하여 위상차 필름(400)을 부착시킨 후, 다시 상기 위상 필름(300) 상에 접착제를 도포하여 편광 필름(300)을 부착한다.In the manufacturing method of the organic light emitting display according to the second experimental example shown in FIG. 5, a process of attaching the
Table 1 is a table comparing the luminance (cd / m2) and the contrast ratio (@ 55,000 lux) of the OLED display according to Experiments 1 to 7 of the present invention. Here, the first experimental example is a structure of a light emitting layer / a polymer resin layer / a polarizing film, and the polymer resin layer is an acrylate resin in which a scattering body is not dispersed. As shown in Fig. 1, each of the second to seventh experimental examples is composed of the light emitting layer / scattering layer / polarizing film as in the first embodiment, and each of scattering bodies of the second to seventh experimental examples Diameter is different. That is, the average diameter of the scatterer of the second experimental example was 187 nm, the average diameter of the scatterer of the third experimental example was 334 nm, the average diameter of the scatterer of the fourth experiment was 560 nm, the average diameter of the scatterer of the fifth experiment was 786 nm, The diameter of the scatterer in the sixth experimental example is 977 nm and the average diameter of the scatterer in the seventh experiment is 1242 nm. Here, the light emitting layer according to Experimental Examples 1 to 7 was a white light emitting layer manufactured under the same conditions, and the polarizing film was also formed under the same conditions. The polymer resin layer of the first experimental example and the polymer resin of the scattering layer of the second experimental example to the seventh experimental example were all made of an acrylate resin which is the same material. Then, the same light of 55,000 lux was irradiated to each of the first to seventh experimental examples, and the contrast ratio was measured.

표 1을 참조하면, 제 1 실험예 및 제 2 실험예의 휘도 및 명암비에 비해 제 3 실험예 내지 제 7 실험예의 휘도 및 명암비가 높다.Referring to Table 1, the brightness and contrast ratio of the third to seventh experimental examples are higher than those of the first and second experimental examples.
제 1 실험예의 경우, 고분자 수지층에 산란체를 포함하지 않기 때문에, 외광이 편광 필름에서 발광층으로 입사되거나, 상기 발광층에서 편광 필름으로 입사될 때, 산란이 일어나지 않는다. 따라서, 산란체(220)에 의한 외부 입사광 및 소자 방출광의 산란을 기대할 수 없으며, 이로 인해 시인성 및 광 추출 효율이 제 3 내지 제 7 실험예에 비해 낮다.In the case of the first experimental example, scattering does not occur when external light enters the light-emitting layer in the polarizing film or enters the polarizing film in the light-emitting layer because the polymer resin layer does not include a scattering body. Therefore, scattering of the external incident light and the device-emitted light by the
제 2 실험예의 경우 입자의 크기가 200nm 미만이기 때문에, 상기 산란체에 의한 후방 산란이 일어난다. 따라서, 외광이 산란체(220)에 의해 산란되는 횟수가 제 3 내지 제 6 실험예에 비해 적다. 또한, 소자 발생광이 산란체(220)로부터 후방 산란됨에 따라, 상기 소자 발생광의 전반사 방지 효율이 제 3 내지 제 7 실험예에 비해 떨어진다.In the second experimental example, since the particle size is less than 200 nm, back scattering by the scattering body occurs. Therefore, the number of times the external light is scattered by the
In the case of the seventh experimental example, since the particle size exceeds 1000 nm, omnidirectional scattering occurs as light enters the
However, in the case of the third to sixth experimental examples, since the size of the scattering body is 200 nm to 1000 nm, the forward scattering is superior to the back scattering, and the number of scattering by the
Table 2 compares the luminance (cd / m2) and the contrast ratio (@ 55,000 lux) of the organic light emitting display according to the eighth to fourteenth experimental examples of the present invention. Here, the eighth experimental example is a structure of a light emitting layer / a polymer resin layer / a retardation film / a polarizing film, and the polymer resin layer is an acrylate resin in which a scattering body is not dispersed. Each of the ninth through thirteenth experimental examples is composed of a light emitting layer / a scattering layer / a retardation film / a polarizing film as in the second embodiment shown in Fig. 5, Diameter is different. Comparing the luminance of the eighth experimental example and the ninth experimental example with the luminance of the tenth through fourteenth experimental examples, it can be seen that as shown in Table 2, in comparison with the eighth and ninth experimental examples, The light emitting efficiency of the experimental example is high. The contrast ratios of the eighth and ninth experimental examples and the contrast ratios of the tenth through fourteenth experimental examples are higher than those of the eighth and ninth experimental examples in the tenth through fourteenth experimental examples .
이와 같이 제 10 실험예 내지 제 14 실험예가 제 8 및 제 9 실험예에 비해 광 방출 효율 및 시인성이 우수한 이유는 발광층(100)과 편광 필름(300) 사이에 형성된 산란층에 의한 전방 산란 및 위상차 필름으로 위상 변화에 의한 것이다.The reason why the tenth through fourteenth experimental examples are superior to the eighth and ninth experimental examples in light emission efficiency and visibility is that the forward scattering due to the scattering layer formed between the light emitting
하지만, 제 8 실험예의 경우, 제 10 내지 제 14 실험예에서와 같이 위상차 필름이 형성되더라도, 산란체(220)에 의한 전방 산란이 일어나지 않으므로, 위상차 필름(400)으로 입사되는 광이 적다. 이에, 제 8 실험예의 광 방출 효율 및 시인성이 제 10 내지 제 14 실험예에 비해 낮다.However, in the case of the eighth experimental example, even if a retardation film is formed as in the tenth through fourteenth experiments, forward scattering by the
또한, 제 9 실험예의 경우 입자의 크기가 200nm 미만이기 때문에, 제 10 내지 제 13 실험예에 비해 전방으로 산란되는 광이 작다. 따라서, 제 9 실험예의 광 방출 효율 및 시인성이 제 10 내지 제 14 실험예에 비해 낮다.In addition, in the case of the ninth experimental example, since the particle size is less than 200 nm, the light scattered forward is small as compared with the tenth through thirteenth experimental examples. Therefore, the light emission efficiency and visibility of the ninth experimental example are lower than those of the tenth through fourteenth experimental examples.
In the case of the fourteenth experimental example, since the size of the particles exceeds 1000 nm, scattering occurs omnidirectionally as the light enters the
Comparing the contrast ratios of the third through sixth experimental examples corresponding to the first embodiment and the tenth through thirteenth experimental examples corresponding to the second embodiment, The contrast ratio of the experimental example is higher. 5, the
