Description
The present invention relates to an arc furnace steelmaking method for melting iron scrap to produce molten steel. In particular, it relates to an arc furnace steelmaking method for producing molten steel using auxiliary fuel or carburizer.
Steel scrap used for building materials is manufactured by melting and refining iron scrap as a raw material in steelmaking arc furnaces. The main energy source of this arc furnace is heat transfer (arc heat). In order to promote dissolution and refining and to save expensive electric energy, auxiliary heat sources such as oxygen gas (for oxidative dissolution of iron), gaseous fuel or liquid fuel, and coke breeze are additionally used. In modern steelmaking arc furnaces, the ratio of energy input between heat transfer and auxiliary fuel reaches 50:50. Among the auxiliary heat sources, solid fuels containing a large amount of solid carbon such as coke and anthracite as a substitute for coke and oil coke are most important. These solid fuels act not only as heat sources but also as reducing agents, and play an important role in the refining process itself. Currently, coke is used in an amount of 20 to 30 kg per ton of iron.
However, due to the large use of carbon materials such as coke and anthracite coal, a large amount of carbon dioxide gas derived from fossil fuel, that is, greenhouse gas, is released into the atmosphere. For example, in a standard steelmaking plant with annual production of 1,000,000 tons, using 25 kg per tonne of molten steel with 85% by weight of carbonaceous powder, 77,916 tons of carbon dioxide gas is emitted per year.
In this way, carbonaceous materials such as coke and anthracite coal, which are fossil fuels, are used in the arc steelmaking process, and as a result, carbon dioxide gas, which is a global warming gas (greenhouse gas), is discharged in a large amount into the atmosphere. If biomass carbides such as charcoal are used in place of the coal ash made of this fossil fuel, the emission of greenhouse gas is theoretically reduced to zero. In addition, carbon dioxide gas generated from biomass fuel is called "carbon neutral" and is not included under the category of greenhouse gas (global warming gas).
An object of the present invention is to use biomass carbide close to the properties of coke as a substitute for coke in the process of manufacturing molten steel by melting and refining a cold iron source such as iron scrap in an arc furnace. It is to provide an arc furnace steelmaking method that can reduce the generation of greenhouse gases.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention is obtained by carbonizing the coconut shell or oil palm shell, the step of incorporating carbide having 12% or more of residual volatile matter into the iron scrap and charging it into the arc furnace, and the coconut shell or oil palm shell Provided is a method for producing an arc furnace using palm shell charcoal, which is obtained by carbonizing and has a step of blowing a carbide having a residual volatile content of less than 12% from the lance into an arc furnace and a process of dissolving the iron scrap to produce molten steel.

In the arc furnace steelmaking process, a solid fuel containing carbon is used, and a large amount of carbon dioxide derived from fossil fuel is discharged into the atmosphere. The released carbon dioxide makes up greenhouse gases. Using biomass carbide instead of coke would theoretically reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero. However, in many cases, the solid carbon content of biomass carbide is less than that of coke, and the biomass carbide has a problem of being easily scattered because its bulk density is extremely small. Therefore, biomass carbide is not used as a solid fuel in the acro steelmaking process.
In Malaysia and Indonesia, the coconut or oil palm industry is one of the major industries. Palm husks, which are produced in large quantities, are carbonized and made of charcoal. Hereinafter, the carbide obtained by carbonization of coconut shell or oil palm shell is called "palm shell charcoal". This coconut shell charcoal has a bulk density slightly smaller than coke and has a high solid carbon content, so that the coconut shell charcoal can be sufficiently used as a substitute for fossil fuel such as coke. Table 1 shows a comparison of physical properties between oil palm shell charcoal and coke.
As shown in Table 1, palm shell charcoal is an excellent fuel because it has a high calorific value, a low ash content and a low sulfur content as compared to coke. However, the use of palm husk charcoal is generally used as a raw material for activated carbon in development, and its production scale is small. In addition, with the recent rapid rise in fossil fuel prices, palm husks have begun to be traded as more expensive fuels than coal. As a result, steelmakers are not constantly using coconut shells. Coke or alternative fossil fuels are priced from 180 to 200 US $ / ton in Indonesia and Malaysia, 40 US $ / ton in palm husk and 250 to 270 US $ / ton in coconut shell. Therefore, the steelmaker does not continuously use palm shell coal.
Currently, solid carbon powders such as coke, anthracite coal, oil coke, and the like are widely used in the arc steel making process, are 85% or more and volatile matters are 8% or less. In order to raise the solid carbon content of the palm shell coal to 85% or more and to lower the volatile content of the palm shell coal to 8% or less, it is necessary to raise the carbonization temperature and extend the carbonization time during the production of the palm shell coal, and the yield is small. Lose. This yield is a value obtained by dividing the weight of the resulting palm husk by the weight of the obtained palm husk. Currently, the yield is about 22% to 25% in the case of palm husk produced as a raw material for activated carbon. The current price of this palm husk is 250-270 US $ / ton as described above, and depends greatly on the price of the palm husk. Table 2 shows an example of a price structure for the manufacture and shipment of one tonne of palm husk.
In this way, if the yield is reduced by lowering the volatile content to the level of the coconut shell coal currently being distributed as a commodity, the proportion of the raw material cost is increased to 61.5%, and the economic competitiveness of the fossil fuel is lost. Fossil fuel prices, as mentioned above, are now between 180 and 200 US $ / ton.
The present invention improves the economics of the alternative palm shell coal by leaving volatile matter in the palm shell coal to a level usable in the steelmaking furnace and increasing the yield. For example, the raw material cost is 114 US $ and the palm shell coal price is 214 US $ / ton at 35% yield. At 45% yield the raw material cost is 89 US $ and the palm shell coal price is 189 US $ / ton. Therefore, it is possible to secure a competitive edge over fossil fuels.
In order to increase the yield, the carbonization temperature is lowered and the carbonization time is shortened in the production process of the palm husk. 1 shows the relationship between the carbonization temperature / time and yield of palm husks. 2 shows the relationship between yield and residual volatiles.
In this invention, a yield is raised in the manufacturing process of palm husk coal, and the palm husk coal which has a high volatile matter (12% or more) is manufactured. When the palm husk is used in an electric furnace, coarse particles of palm husk are incorporated into a scrap before melting and charged into a furnace. The volatiles burn at the time of melting the scrap, act as a heat source, and the remaining solid carbon powder acts as a charcoal material. The carbonaceous material mixed with the scrap may be made entirely of palm shell charcoal, or may be composed of a portion of the palm shell charcoal and a portion of low volatility and high solid carbon powder conventionally used. There is a report that the high volatility carbonaceous material is blown into molten steel or slag, and there are adverse effects on slag forming or reduction of iron oxide in slag (Denki-Seiko, Electric Furnace, Vol. 56, Vol. 1 (January 1985) "Reduction of FeO in molten slag by solid carbon"). Therefore, it is preferable to use the low volatile matter and the solid carbon powder as the carbon material blown into a furnace like the conventional case.
Next, a detailed detailed process using palm husk as a substitute for coke in an arc furnace steelmaking method for melting and refining iron scrap to produce molten steel will be described. 3 to 5 are schematic diagrams showing a state in which the present invention is implemented when melting a cold iron source in an arc furnace. FIG. 3 shows the initial state of melting of the cold iron source, FIG. 4 shows the state immediately after the melting of the cold iron source, and FIG. 5 shows the molten steel refiner after completion of the temperature increase at the end of the arc furnace steelmaking process.

Firstly, the lid 4 is opened from a supply bucket (not shown) in which a scrap 9 and a
In the present invention, as a substitute for coke in the scrap dissolver, the temperature riser, and the refiner, palm husk can be used as an auxiliary fuel or a briquette.
In the scrap dissolver, an
In the temperature increaser, after the scrap 9 to be deposited is completely dissolved, the
In the refiner, as shown in FIG. 5, the carbonaceous material is blown into the

In Indonesia, an electric furnace steelmaking plant was tested for the use of high-volatile palm shell coal. Table 3 shows the physical properties of the palm husks used in this test. Since the volatilization content of this coconut shell coal was very high as 48.1%, in consideration of safety, the amount of 50% of the whole carbon material mixed with scrap was used, and the remaining 50% used anthracite (
탄화물 B(Charcoal B)는 Heat No. 7, No. 8에서 무연탄과 혼합하여 사용된다. Carbide A in Table 4 corresponds to palm husk charcoal in Table 1, and Carbide B in Table 4 corresponds to palm husk charcoal of high volatile matter in Table 3. Carbide B (Charcoal B) is Heat No. 7, No. 8 is used in combination with anthracite. Based on the evaluation of the performance of the electric furnace, the Tap to Tap time (1 heat time: minute) and the power consumption rate are better than those using coke. This is because high volatile matter acted as an effective heat source. Carbon content (%) in molten steel at the time of tapping does not adversely affect a peat effect.
According to the present invention, generation of a large amount of greenhouse gases can be reduced.
