Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a composite optical sheet, and more particularly, to a composite optical sheet applied to a display, a light source assembly including the same, and a liquid crystal display device.
A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a device for displaying an image by injecting liquid crystal between two glass plates and applying power to the upper and lower glass plate electrodes to change the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules in each pixel. Unlike a cathode ray tube (CRT), a plasma display panel (PDP) or the like, a display using a liquid crystal display device is not usable in a place where there is no light because the display itself is non-luminous. In order to compensate for these drawbacks, a light source assembly that is uniformly irradiated on the information display surface is mounted for the purpose of enabling use in a dark place.
The light source assembly used in the liquid crystal display device is divided into two types. The first is an edge type light source assembly that provides light at the side of the liquid crystal display device, and the second is a direct light type light source assembly that provides light directly at the rear side of the liquid crystal display device. In the case of the double-edge light source assembly, a light guide plate is provided to allow the light emitted from the light source to be irradiated upward, and at least one optical sheet is disposed above the light guide plate to adjust optical characteristics of the light passing through the light guide plate.
One of the parameters determining the display quality of the liquid crystal display device is optical characteristics. In order to control the optical characteristics more precisely, a plurality of optical sheets are required. However, if the number of optical sheets is increased, not only the thickness of the liquid crystal display device becomes thick, but also the manufacturing process becomes complicated and the manufacturing cost increases.

Two or both selected from the above-described

Although not shown, other optical modulation layers may be formed on the lower surface of the
4 is a cross-sectional view showing an optical path in the composite optical sheet according to an embodiment of the present invention.
When the composite
The light emitted to the inclined surface of the
However, when the
5 is a schematic diagram illustrating a portion of the light path of FIG. 4. Referring to FIG. 5, when the center of the width w1 of the
Based on P1, the horizontal separation distance HD of P2 may be calculated as follows.
HD = a1+a2+a3 … 식 (1) HD = a1 + a2 + a3... Formula (1)
In formula (1), a1, a2, a3 can be obtained as follows, respectively.
a1=d1*tanθ1 (단 d1은 결합층(250)의 표면으로부터 제2 기재(200)까지의 거리) … 식 (2) a1 = d1 * tanθ1 (where d1 is the distance from the surface of the
a2=d2*tanθ2 (단 d2는 제2 기재(200)의 두께) … 식 (3)a2 = d2 * tanθ2 (where d2 is the thickness of the second base material 200). Equation (3)
a3=d3*tanθ3 (단 d3는 렌티큘러(230a)의 높이) … 식 (4)a3 = d3 * tanθ3 (where d3 is the height of the lenticular 230a)... Equation (4)
On the other hand, since the refractive index of the lenticular 230a is the same as that of the
Accordingly, the horizontal separation distance HD of P2 based on P1 may be calculated as follows.
HD = (d1+d3)*tanθ1 + d2*tanθ2 … 식 (5)HD = (d1 + d3) * tanθ1 + d2 * tanθ2... Equation (5)
However, in FIG. 5, the value of a2 may be relatively smaller than a1 or a3. In an exemplary embodiment, a2 may be 0.05-0.2 times of a1 + a3. In this case, the following equation (6) can be established.
1.05*(d1+d3)*tanθ1≤HD≤1.2*(d1+d3)*tanθ1 … 식 (6)1.05 * (d1 + d3) * tanθ1 ≦ HD ≦ 1.2 * (d1 + d3) * tanθ1... Formula (6)
Assuming that θ1 is about 26 °, the following equation can be derived approximately from equation (6).
0.51*(d1+d3)≤HD≤0.59*(d1+d3) … 식 (7)0.51 * (d1 + d3) ≦ HD ≦ 0.59 * (d1 + d3)... Equation (7)
On the other hand, the center of the
In addition, in FIG. 4, the size of the
6 is a cross-sectional view of a composite optical sheet according to another embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 6, the composite
