Description
An embodiment relates to a solar cell and a manufacturing method thereof.
Recently, as the demand for energy increases, development of solar cells for converting solar energy into electrical energy is in progress.
In particular, CIGS-based solar cells that are pn heterojunction devices having a substrate structure including a glass substrate, a metal back electrode layer, a p-type CIGS-based light absorbing layer, a high resistance buffer layer, an n-type window layer, and the like are widely used.
Embodiments can be easily manufactured, and to provide a solar cell having an improved photoelectric conversion efficiency.
Solar cell according to one embodiment includes a substrate; A plurality of protrusions disposed on the substrate; A back electrode layer covering the substrate and the protrusions; A light absorbing layer disposed on the back electrode layer; And a front electrode layer disposed on the light absorbing layer.
According to one or more exemplary embodiments, a method of manufacturing a solar cell includes forming a composite including group I elemental nanoparticles on a substrate; Forming a back electrode layer on the substrate and the composite; Forming a light absorbing layer on the back electrode layer; Heat treating the composite to dope the group I elemental nanoparticles into the light absorbing layer and the substrate; And forming a front electrode layer on the light absorbing layer.
The solar cell according to the embodiment includes a plurality of protrusions, by which the sunlight can be effectively incident on the front electrode layer and the light absorbing layer.
In addition, in the method of manufacturing a solar cell according to the embodiment, the plurality of protrusions are formed during the heat treatment of the composite including the group I elemental nanoparticles. The group I elemental nanoparticles are removed by the heat treatment and can be doped onto the light absorbing layer and the substrate of the solar cell. The size of the group I elemental nanoparticles can be easily doped even at low temperature because they are nano-sized.
In addition, in the solar cell manufacturing method according to the embodiment, the doping degree of the light absorption layer and the substrate can be easily adjusted by a simple method of adjusting the concentration of the group I elemental nanoparticles. Accordingly, the amount of group I elements included in the light absorbing layer and the substrate can be efficiently controlled, and the amount of group I elements of the light absorbing layer so that the solar cell according to the embodiment has the maximum photoelectric conversion efficiency. This can be optimized.
