Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method of recovering crystals by crystallizing it by spray drying process while reacting carbon dioxide contained in a large amount of combustion exhaust gas with a cation contained in a large amount of seawater. The present invention relates to a method for reducing or removing carbon dioxide in a combustion exhaust gas, including a separation extraction process by separation, without discharge into the air.
In general, sea water contains a large amount of material, and new substances are continuously dissolved, and conversely, by repeating the process of releasing substances dissolved in sea water into the air or as crystals, the sea water continues to equilibrate its components. have.
Sea water accounts for two-thirds of the earth's surface area, and the amount is enormous, which is an absolute influence on the maintenance of the global ecosystem.
Carbon dioxide is an important resource that is absolutely necessary for living on earth. That is, it functions as a key raw material for photosynthesis, which is the basis for most living things. Plants use water (H 2 O) and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) as basic raw materials to produce various organic materials using solar energy, and these organics are used as the start of the food chain to make the food chain of life on this planet function. do. In other words, most life on earth has been using carbon dioxide as an important means of maintaining life.
However, as industrialization progressed, the use of fossil fuels increased, and carbon dioxide released into the air in large quantities exceeded the appropriate amount and became infamous as the main culprit of global warming. have.
Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that the survival of mankind now depends on the reduction of carbon dioxide.
The present invention relates to a method of crystallizing and recovering carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels. Current methods for solving the carbon dioxide problem have been devised, such as a solution through complete combustion, a chemical solution using a catalyst, a method of collecting and storing in a permanent storage facility, dissolved in sea water and thrown into the sea. . However, currently devised methods suffer from large facility or disposal costs, secondary byproducts as sources of pollution, stability problems and environmental degradation from different angles. For example, the method of solving carbon dioxide emission problem by dissolving carbon dioxide in seawater has been discussed for a long time, but it is not currently allowed due to the possibility of environmental damage such as economic efficiency and increased acidity of seawater. The solution to complete combustion produces the irony of using the enormous energy produced by generating carbon dioxide for complete combustion to reduce carbon dioxide, and the energy and equipment costs associated with it.
These currently developed methods have significant problems due to cost and side effects, and require considerable research and sealing in the future to secure stability and economics.
The present invention has been made by the above-mentioned demands, and is to economically and effectively solve the problem that carbon dioxide is released into the air by reacting carbon dioxide with cations contained in seawater in a large amount and properties to recover the crystals. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method and apparatus for recovering a large amount of the reaction as a crystal at economical energy cost.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention uses a concentration process through the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) and an anion reduction process through the NF membrane (nano membrane) or ED membrane (ion exchange membrane) to promote and massify the reaction with carbon dioxide This increases the amount of cations in seawater, reduces the anions, and dries them through a spray drying process using thermal energy contained in the exhaust gas emitted from carbon dioxide to remove the water contained in the seawater and recover it in crystallized form. And a method of condensing residual moisture and carbon dioxide using low temperature of seawater to recover fresh water, and separating and extracting the produced crystals by type through a particle size separator.
According to the present invention, by safely extracting and removing carbon dioxide at an economic cost, it is possible to obtain various carbonates, salts, and fresh water as by-products as well as to prevent environmental destruction brought about by the discharge of carbon dioxide into the air.

The pretreatment apparatus of the present invention may be interposed by one or a mixed method selected from a sand filter, a rapid filtration membrane, a micro filter or an ultra filter.
In addition, the crystal separation extraction device of the present invention is preferably a particle size separator, an example of a vibration screen of 20 to 500 mesh.
According to the present invention, the carbon dioxide reduction and removal process of the present invention is made in the seawater desalination process and the process of crystallizing the various minerals contained in the seawater is possible with low cost and simple equipment, salt and various carbonates (calcium carbonate, Magnesium carbonate, iron carbonate, sodium carbonate, etc.) is also an efficient way to produce a variety of products, such as by-products.
Seawater is concentrated and desalted through RO membranes (reverse osmosis membranes) to produce fresh water, while the saltwater of seawater, etc., is concentrated to twice the concentration. The obtained fresh water is used for various purposes as fresh water, and the concentrated water is passed through the NF membrane (nano membrane) to reduce the anion. At this time, even if the NF membrane (nano membrane) passage is used in the previous stage of the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane), the result does not create a special problem. It is also possible to reduce anions through the ED membrane (ion exchange membrane). The reason why the ions are removed from the NF film (nano film) and the ED film (ion exchange film) is because the size of SO 4 2 − ions forming a substantial portion of the anion is larger than other ions.
The concentrated and negatively reduced seawater is injected into the hot air of the combustion exhaust gas containing carbon dioxide. In this process, ions in seawater are actively reacted with carbon dioxide, dried and extracted as crystals. Since the sprayed seawater is sprayed in a fine mist state, crystallization is started through the evaporation process when hot air is blown above 60 ° C. In general, the evaporation of seawater is effective at high temperature, but due to the wind and fine particles, it is effectively dried even in the hot air of about 60 ° C lower than that in the spray drying process. Of course, if the temperature is higher than that can be crystallized faster.
In the case of spraying seawater, it is important to finely split the seawater and spray it, but there are rotary disk, pressure nozzle, and the like. In the present invention, it is important to spray seawater in the form of fine particles without regard to the type thereof. However, in the case of a large capacity, the rotary disk type is efficient.
The sprayed seawater is not dried at a high temperature and has a large amount of spray, and is dried while floating in the air in a fog state for a certain time. At this time, the carbon dioxide reacts with the fogged seawater and crystallizes to fall to the bottom. In other words, carbon dioxide binds to cations such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and sodium contained in concentrated seawater and crystallizes into calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, iron carbonate, sodium carbonate, etc. and falls to the bottom with salts such as sodium chloride and magnesium chloride. will be.
The present invention is safe because carbon dioxide is recovered as crystals in the final process and does not require any energy because it uses energy contained in the exhaust gas of fossil fuel. In addition, since the anion is reduced through the NF membrane (nano membrane) or the ED membrane (ion exchange membrane), the reactivity is increased, and the reaction is fast, and the amount of carbon dioxide that is crystallized by bonding with the cation in the seawater is greatly increased. And as the end product produces carbonates and salts, this salt can be used for various purposes.
Through spray drying, most of the minerals in seawater crystallize into salts and carbonates and fall to the bottom, and the water is discharged with water as air. The discharged air contains a significant amount of water and some carbon dioxide that has not been crystallized, which is then liquefied through cold water and temperature exchange to recover fresh water. At this time, most of the remaining carbon dioxide is dissolved in water. Through this process, the air discharged into the air becomes a clean state in which most substances such as moisture and carbon dioxide are removed.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail.
The flow of the whole process of the present invention is pre-treatment (filtered by sand filtration, rapid filtration membrane, micro filter (MF), ultra filter (UF), etc.) and then passed through the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) concentrated water and demineralized water (fresh water) ), The concentrated water is passed through an NF membrane (nano membrane) or ED membrane (ion exchange membrane) to remove or reduce anions.
At this time, the NF membrane (nano membrane) may be passed in advance of the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane), but the seawater concentrated through the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) is filtered through the NF membrane (nano membrane). It is more economical to install and operate an NF membrane (nano membrane) after the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) because it reduces the installation cost. Since NF membranes (nano membranes) have a larger gap space than RO membranes (reverse osmosis membranes), most mineral ions dissolved in seawater pass through them. However, since SO 4 2 - ions, one of the representative anions, are divalent ions and larger in size than other ions, it is difficult to pass through the NF film (nano film). Therefore, most of the SO 4 2 - ions are trapped in the NF film (nano film), and the seawater passed through is a seawater with a significant reduction of SO 4 2 - ions, which are anions.
The concentrated and anion-reduced seawater is sprayed in a fine mist state into the combustion exhaust gas hot air containing carbon dioxide. The temperature of the exhaust gas, which is hot air, is appropriate if it is 60 ° C. or higher, but if it is too high, sea water may crystallize even before completion of the reaction with carbon dioxide. If the temperature is higher than this, drop it by exchanging temperature with cold temperature. In this way, if the temperature of the introduced seawater is raised to a certain level, the evaporation and crystallization can proceed efficiently.
Since most of the exhaust gas has a significant amount of heat, there is little need to supply extra energy for hot air production.
During spray drying, the carbon dioxide contained in the off-gas reacts with various cations contained in seawater and crystallizes to fall to the bottom. The reaction proceeds in an instant in large quantities because a significant amount of anions in seawater are removed through the anion removal process. In this way, the salts and carbonates accumulated in the crystals may be separated by a particle size separator, etc., and used according to the purpose, or may be used as it is.
Moisture and the like contained in the air discharged after the drying process are liquefied by temperature exchange using seawater and recovered as fresh water. In this process, the remaining amount of carbon dioxide is dissolved in the liquefaction process and recovered as fresh water.
The energy used in the present invention is used only to the extent necessary to apply pressure for passing seawater through various membranes. The heat required in the drying process uses its own heat of the exhaust gas containing carbon dioxide. Most of the exhaust gases have a high temperature, and the drying process only needs to secure a temperature of 60 ° C or higher, so there is no need to add a separate heating system.
The present invention not only stays to remove or reduce carbon dioxide, but also secures various by-products of high economic efficiency such as fresh water production, salt production, and carbonate production.
In order to improve the quality and expand the use of carbonates and salts produced through this device, pretreatment of exhaust gases including carbon dioxide is required. In general, the combustion gas discharged on a large scale currently goes through a pollution prevention device, a centrifugal separator, a scrubber, a desulfurization facility, and a denitrification facility. In order to improve the quality and utilization of the by-products, it is necessary to secure the cleanliness of the exhaust gases by utilizing these facilities in the pretreatment stage before the spray drying process of the exhaust gases.

As can be seen in Table 1 above, seawater contains a large amount of material and is dissolved in an ionic state. Of course, there are many substances that are not shown in the above table, and there are more than 80 kinds of substances. It is a natural phenomenon to keep an eye on the development of resources dissolved in seawater, as materials buried on land are gradually bottoming out due to long mining activities, and mining costs are increasing. Researchers around the world are currently working on developing extraction methods for gold, lithium, and tritium dissolved in seawater, and the results are becoming more visible.
The present invention also proposes a method for recovering various substances dissolved in seawater at economic cost. In general, materials dissolved in seawater by evaporation of seawater require a lot of energy and special equipment to crystallize.
However, the present invention produces a variety of economical materials while minimizing such energy. The first material produced is fresh water. That is, clean fresh water is produced in the process of passing RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) for economical evaporation. The produced fresh water can be supplied as tap water, deuterium water, or water required for various facilities, and can be used as a raw material for drinking water. Carbonates and salts which are crystallized and recovered during spray drying can be used for various purposes. It can be separated by particle separator (vibration screen) and used as a characteristic or as a whole salt without separation.
Currently, 2.5 million tons of salt is imported into Korea annually. Of the total 3 million tons, 2.5 million tons are imported every year except 500,000 tons of domestic production, and most of them are used for chemical industry and snow removal agent. Therefore, in these cases, even if the product contains a small amount of other substances, there is no problem in use. When the facility is installed and operated according to the present invention, most of the annually imported salt can be covered by the production of cheap carbon dioxide removal process, and it is considered to be possible to export.
In addition, when the carbonate (calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, sodium carbonate, iron carbonate, etc.) of a high purity of a specific component is separated and extracted through a particle size separator, it may be used for a much more expensive purpose.
Separation net size of the particle size separator is present in a variety of, as shown in Table 2 above, the material produced in the sea water by the present invention is able to separate and extract most of the material if the size of 20 ~ 500Mesh.
The heat source used in the spray drying process uses the heat source of the exhaust gas containing carbon dioxide as it is. Carbon dioxide emitted through the combustion process contains considerable heat energy because it contains heat generated during the combustion process. It is used as a heat source required for spray drying. The heat source required for spray drying is suitable if it is a hot air having a temperature of 60 ° C. to 100 ° C., so that no separate energy supply is required other than the heat energy included in the exhaust gas. Of course, the pretreatment process to remove various foreign matters contained in the exhaust gas may reduce the temperature slightly, but it is not a problem because the residual heat is enough.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to Examples, but the following Examples are merely illustrative of the present invention, and the content of the present invention is not limited by the following Examples.
Concentration of Seawater Using Membrane (Reverse Osmosis Membrane)
Seawater was concentrated using an NF membrane (nano membrane) and an RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane). As shown in Table 2 below, in the case of various combinations of the NF membrane (nano membrane) and the RO membrane (reverse osmosis), the mineral component centered on the cation is concentrated, whereas the SO 4 2 - component, which is an anion, is removed. It can be seen that a variety of concentrated water can be prepared.
Analysis of major components such as cations (sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium) and anions (chlorine, sulfate ions) using ion chromatography (IC) showed that seawater was treated with NF (nano) and RO membranes. The water quality after (reverse osmosis membrane) is shown in Table 3. The water quality of the NF membrane (nano membrane) permeate water slightly increased the concentration of monovalent ions such as sodium, potassium, chlorine, etc., while the concentration of divalent ions such as calcium, magnesium, sulfate ions was 50% through the NF membrane. Decreases. In particular, in the case of sulfate ion, up to 98% is removed while passing through the NF membrane. NF membrane (nano-membrane) permeate water from which sulfate ions have been removed is used as the input water of RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane). Concentrated water can be obtained. When using RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) with a pressure of 8.6 Mpa, monovalent cations such as sodium and potassium are 3.3 times higher than raw water, and calcium and magnesium, which are divalent cations, are 2.3-2.7 times concentrated, and chlorine, which is monovalent anion, 4.2 times concentrated. On the other hand, sulfate ion, which is a divalent anion, is 0.14 times, which removes about 86%.
In addition, if the RO (reverse osmosis) pressure is increased to 12 Mpa, sodium is 5.5 times higher than raw water, potassium is 7.0 times concentrated, and calcium and magnesium which are divalent cations are 3.6 ~ 3.9 concentrated, and chlorine which is monovalent anion 6.2 times concentrated. On the other hand, sulfate ion, which is a divalent anion, is 0.30 times and about 70% is removed.
Therefore, when the NF-RO membrane is used in combination with the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane), the cations can be concentrated in the seawater, while most of the anion sulfate can be removed. When reacted with, the production of MgSO 4, CaSO 4, etc. is suppressed, and the production of MgCO 3 , CaCO 3, etc. is promoted, thereby effectively removing carbon dioxide. In this case, even if the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) is used in the previous process and the NF membrane (nano membrane) is used in the later process, the result is very similar.
Example 2 Concentration of Deep Sea Water Using RO Membrane (Reverse Osmosis Membrane) Process and ED Membrane (Ion Exchange Membrane) Process
Seawater was combined with RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) process and ED membrane (ion exchange membrane) process to obtain permeate and concentrated water more effectively. As can be seen from Table 4, the two processes yield a high concentration of concentrated water with reduced SO 4 2- .
In the first step, concentrated water and demineralized water (fresh water) are prepared using RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane), and in the second step, RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) is used as concentrated water and passed through ED membrane (ion exchange membrane). Production process. The water quality of RO concentrate, RO-ED concentrate and effluent produced by each process was analyzed by ion chromatography to cations such as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium and anions such as chlorine and sulfate ions.
RO concentrated water produced by passing the RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane) at a pressure of 50 kg / cm 2 has a concentration of 1.6 to 1.7 times that of cations (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium) and 2.0 chlorine ions. Pear concentration, sulfate ion is concentrated 1.5 times.
Concentrated water was prepared in two steps using RO concentrated water as the input water of the ED membrane (ion exchange membrane). The concentration of sodium in RO-ED concentrated water is 5.8 times higher than that of seawater, potassium 8.0 times, calcium 10.7 times, magnesium 7.4 times, chlorine 8.3 times, but sulfate ion 0.12 About 88% of sulfate ions are removed. The exclusion of sulfate ions is because sulfate ions having a large ion size and a large charge amount are removed when passing through the ED membrane (ion exchange membrane).
Therefore, when RO-ED is used in combination, NF membrane (nano membrane) is used as a pretreatment membrane for RO membrane (reverse osmosis membrane), and when NF-RO membrane is used in combination, cations can be concentrated in raw water, whereas sulfuric acid is an anion. Most of the ions can be removed to inhibit the production of MgSO 4, CaSO 4 , and promote the production of CaCO 3 , MgCO 3 combined with Ca 2+ , Mg 2+, etc., carbon dioxide in the exhaust gas and cations in seawater.
Example 3> Crystallized carbonate and salt are separated by type through a particle size separator
The crystallized material was separated using a vibrating screen according to the particle size to selectively separate and extract the crystallized material. 4 is an actual vibration screen picture. Using a vibrating screen, carbonates, salts, etc. were separated according to the particle size of the crystal salt (Table 5). The average particle size of magnesium salt was 263 μm, the average particle size of sodium chloride salt was 175 μm, and the average particle size of calcium salt was 7.73 μm. Magnesium salts, sodium chloride salts and calcium salts were separated using multiple vibrating screens having pore sizes of 180 μm, 125 μm, and 38 μm using the average particle size difference of these mineral salts.
* 칼슘의 경우는 엉기고 결합하는 성질로 인해 개별입자 크기보다 실질덩어리가 크기 때문에 26㎛의 망으로도 추출이 가능함.* In the case of calcium, it is possible to extract with a net of 26㎛ because the mass is larger than the individual particle size due to the tangling and bonding property.
