Description
The present invention relates to a carbon nanotube large area emitter and a method for producing the same using a carbon nanotube-polymer composite.
특히 상기 FED는 국내의 LCD(Liquid crystal display), PDP(Plasma Display Panel)보다 낮은 구동 전압과 단순한 제조공정으로 인해 더욱 주목되는 평판 디스플레이다. A display using light emitted by collision of electrons emitted by applying an electric field to a negative electrode plate is called a field emission display (FED). The field emission display uses the same principle as that of a conventional cathode ray tube, but it can be realized as a flat panel, which is attracting attention as a field of the next generation display. In particular, the FED is a flat panel display that is more attention due to a lower driving voltage and a simple manufacturing process than domestic liquid crystal display (LCD) and plasma display panel (PDP).
Meanwhile, carbon nanotubes may be classified into single-walled nanotubes, double-walled nanotubes, and multi-walled nanotubes according to the number of graphite surfaces, and the armchair structure and the zigzag structure may be classified according to the angle at which the graphite surfaces are dried. Have Due to the various structural features described above, carbon nanotubes have excellent mechanical robustness and chemical stability, can have both semiconductor and conductor properties, and have high aspect ratios (aspect ratio of diameter to length) and a wide ratio of high carbon nanotubes. Because of the surface area, research is being conducted to apply to flat panel display devices, transistors, energy storage and nano-dimensional electronic devices.
In order to use the above-described excellent electrical properties of carbon nanotubes as emitters of field emission devices, carbon nanotubes are formed on an electrode to grow carbon nanotubes by sending a reaction gas in the presence of a metal catalyst formed by thin film growth technology. Screen printing and carbon printing on the electrode by mixing carbon nanotube powder made by chemical vapor deposition, laser ablation or arc discharge with a metal paste Electrophoresis method of dispersing a nanotube in an aqueous solution and attaching to an electrode by a constant electric field, and the like.
This will be described in detail below.
First, in the chemical vapor deposition method of growing the carbon nanotubes on the electrode, vertically aligned carbon nanotubes are grown vertically on the substrate in order to maximize a good aspect ratio of the carbon nanotubes. It is difficult to grow and vertically grow carbon nanotubes, which makes it difficult to obtain full uniform field emission characteristics. In addition, the carbon nanotubes are grown at a high temperature of 500 ° C. or higher, and thus, a commercially available glass substrate is not used, and a manufacturing cost is increased by using a silicon wafer or a quartz glass substrate for high temperature.
Next, in the screen printing method of adhering carbon nanotubes with a metal paste to a substrate, coating an electrode layer on a substrate such as glass or wafer, attaching carbon nanotubes mixed with metal paste, and heating the resin to be present in the paste. And the solvent was removed to prepare the emitter. The method can be applied to existing diodes, but is difficult to apply to triodes. In addition, the screen printing method has a complicated process and a problem of uniformly dispersing carbon nanotubes in the metal paste, which may lower the electrode characteristics of the emitter. In addition, there is a problem in that it is difficult to obtain a sufficient physical mechanical bonding with the underlying electrode material by the application process of the known paste used in the screen printing method.
Next, the electrophoresis method of dispersing carbon nanotubes on an aqueous solution and attaching the carbon nanotubes to the electrodes with a constant electric field is uniformly dispersed in the aqueous solution using a polymer dispersant, and then a voltage is applied between the two electrodes to the cathode electrode. It is a method of attaching carbon nanotubes. The electrophoresis method is a simple manufacturing process of the emitter, but has a short life due to the weak adhesion between the carbon nanotubes and the metal electrode.
Accordingly, the present inventors developed a large area emitter using carbon nanotubes, depositing a carbon nanotube-polymer composite on a metal substrate by electrophoresis, and irradiating an electron beam to the electrode and the carbon nanotube-polymer composite. The present invention has been completed by manufacturing an emitter having a large area having excellent lifespan and field emission characteristics by increasing adhesion to and.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for producing a large area emitter having excellent field emission characteristics, high efficiency, and long life using a carbon nanotube-polymer composite.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides a carbon nanotube large area emitter.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing a large area emitter using a carbon nanotube-polymer composite.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail.
The large area emitter according to the present invention comprises a polymer layer deposited on a conductive metal substrate; And a plurality of carbon nanotubes bonded to the polymer layer and formed in a vertical direction.
The conductive metal used in the large area emitter is a metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, gold, aluminum, chromium, tungsten and copper, and preferably carbon nanotubes having a positive charge in distilled water using aluminum or copper. The polymer may be deposited vertically.
The polymer according to the present invention is made of polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl methyl ether, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and polyethylenimine. It is soluble in distilled water using any one water-soluble polymer selected from the group, but has a positive charge when dissolved in distilled water, and can move to the cathode when a voltage is applied. Furthermore, the polymer forms a carbon nanotube-polymer composite on the metal electrode to increase the adhesion between the carbon nanotube and the metal electrode, thereby forming a stable and long-life carbon nanotube emitter.
On the other hand, the carbon nanotubes have a somewhat higher threshold voltage using multi-walled carbon nanotubes, but because of the interaction of the multi-walls forming the tube has a stable and long life, and includes more metallic carbon nanotubes Compared with single-walled carbon nanotubes, it can flow a lot of current with low resistance.
Thus, the multi-walled carbon nanotubes used in the present invention preferably have a length of 1 to 20 μm and a diameter of 10 to 40 nm.
또한, 본 발명은 증류수에 탄소나노튜브와 폴리머를 분산시켜 복합체 용액을 제조하는 단계(단계 1);
을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 탄소나노튜브-폴리머 복합체를 이용한 대면적 에미터의 제조방법을 제공한다. In addition, the present invention comprises the steps of preparing a composite solution by dispersing the carbon nanotubes and polymer in distilled water (step 1);

Provided is a method for producing a large area emitter using a carbon nanotube-polymer composite, characterized in that it comprises a.
The carbon nanotubes of
Single-walled carbon nanotubes have a low threshold voltage and thus have an advantage of enabling field emission even at low voltages, but have a relatively short lifespan due to their low stability, and multi-walled carbon nanotubes have a disadvantage of high threshold voltages. Due to the advantages of stable and long life due to the interaction of the walls, multi-walled carbon nanotubes can be used to produce stable, long-life emitters. In addition, multi-walled carbon nanotubes have more metal properties than single-walled carbon nanotubes, so that many currents can flow with low resistance. At this time, the length of the carbon nanotubes used is 1 ~ 20 ㎛, the diameter is preferably 10 ~ 40 nm.
Meanwhile, the polymer of
In addition, the content of the carbon nanotubes in the polymer of
The carbon nanotubes and the polymer of
In the electrophoresis method of
In addition, the electrode of
The prepared carbon nanotube-polymer composite is a non-conductive polymer coupled to conductive carbon nanotubes with van der Waals forces, thereby forming a conductive polymer composite. In addition, the polymer in the composite increases the bonding force with the metal substrate, rather than being bonded to the metal substrate with van der Waals force and deposited only by carbon nanotubes by polymer viscosity.
Furthermore, in order to increase the stability of the emitter produced according to the present invention, the electron beam can be used to cure the polymer of the carbon nanotube-polymer composite on the metal electrode. The electron beam generates free radicals in the polymer chains of
In addition, the electron beam induces structural deformation of semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes among mixed single-walled carbon nanotubes having a mixture of semiconducting properties and conductivity, thereby increasing conductivity, which has the same effect on multi-walled carbon nanotubes. To increase the conductivity of multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Therefore, the carbon nanotube-polymer composite to which the electron beam is irradiated increases the adhesion of the electrode to increase the stability of the emitter, and increases the conductivity of the carbon nanotube to increase the field emission effect of the emitter.
