The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a metal mask and a metal mask required for packaging by using the electroplating method, in particular, to manufacturing a metal mask having various irregularities and thicknesses having excellent precision and pitch compared to the metal mask of the existing process. Related to.
The method of manufacturing the metal mask can be classified into two ways. As such a conventional method, a metal mask manufacturing method using a laser processing method and a metal mask manufacturing method using metal etching have been developed.
In the industrial field, the laser processing method is used a lot, and the metal mask is manufactured using the following two types of lasers. It is a technique of forming an opening in a conductive substrate such as stainless steel (hereinafter referred to as SUS) using a YAG laser or an excimer laser. When using a laser patterning in the form of a circuit designed for the SUS, there is an advantage that the process is simple and can shorten the process time. However, in the case of patterning the conductive substrate (SUS substrate) using a YAG laser, it is difficult to control the temperature of the portion cut by the laser, resulting in thermal deformation of the conductive substrate (SUS substrate) and roughness due to the shape change of the wall surface of the opening. There is a disadvantage of deterioration. In addition, due to the size limitation of the laser beam (beam) it is difficult to implement a pattern of 100 ㎛ or less. On the other hand, in the case of using an excimer laser, it is possible to implement an ultra fine pattern of 100 μm or less, but the equipment is expensive and mass production is difficult.
Due to the disadvantages of the methods of manufacturing the metal mask using the lasers listed above, a metal mask manufacturing method using a metal etching technique is emerging. This metal vision technique uses a photoresist coating on a SUS substrate, exposure, development using a lithography process, and selective etching of the SUS substrate to form the circuit to be implemented. It is a method of manufacturing a metal mask through the process. As described above, the metal vision technique is inexpensive, but may cause difficulty in controlling the etching rate and unevenness of the wall of the opening, and also difficult to control the etching depth or precision.
In order to replace the conventional metal mask manufacturing technology having these disadvantages, a process technology for manufacturing an additive metal mask using electroplating has been proposed.
Methods using conventional electroplating techniques are shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. 1 is a flow chart of a metal mask fabrication method using a prior art electroplating method, Figure 2 is a step-by-step cross-sectional view of the metal mask fabrication process using the prior art electroplating method of FIG. Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the photosensitive film (Dry Film Resist or Liquid PR) 11 is coated on the conductive substrate 10 (S100). 2A is a cross-sectional view of the liquid photosensitive film or the
After the remaining liquid photosensitive film or
The method using the liquid photoresist film or the photosensitive film patterning process and the metal electroplating technology has an advantage of having excellent precision and wall roughness compared to the conventional laser processing method or metal etching method.
US5,478,699"Method for preparing a screen printing stencil" 은 전주도금기술을 이용하여 금속마스크를 제작하는 방법에 대해 개시하고 있다. In addition, as a prior art, US Patent No. US5,478,699 "Method for preparing a screen printing stencil" filed by Blessington and registered on December 26, 1995 is a metal mask manufacturing method using the electroplating technology. The method is disclosed. The disclosed method implements a pattern using a liquid photosensitive film or a photosensitive film, and proposes a method of separating a metal mask through an exposure, development, and plating process. This conventional technology also has excellent precision and wall roughness compared to the conventional laser processing method or metal etching method, but there is a limitation in the production of fine pitch of less than 300 ㎛ and has the disadvantage that the hardness of the metal mask surface is not sufficient The application of the device miniaturization process is limited.
In addition, Korean Patent Application No. 10-2004-0045423 entitled "Metal mask fabrication method using nickel electroplating method and metal mask using same" filed on June 18, 2004, filed by Electronic Component Research Institute in Korea. A method of preparing is disclosed. In Korean Patent Application No. 10-2004-0045423, a liquid photosensitive film is coated on a conductive substrate, and baking is performed to enhance adhesion between the liquid photosensitive film and the conductive substrate. When the baking is performed, the photoresist film has a taper shape having a specific inclination. Such a prior art can produce a metal mask having a high precision of 0.33 mm pitch or less by strengthening the surface to extend product life, but has a limitation in producing a fine pitch of 200 μm or less.
Recently, due to the development of high-performance electronic components, device stacking and multi-layer device bonding are required on the first stacked device. In this process, the cream-type solder is uniformly distributed on a complex substrate having a height difference with a conventional metal mask. Hard to apply. Therefore, the present invention intends to provide a process for manufacturing a metal mask required for stacking another device on a substrate on which the device is first stacked.

In the method of fabricating a metal mask using the electroplating method of the present invention, it is preferable to include the step of degreasing, which is a process of removing contaminants on the surface of the conductive substrate, in bonding the photosensitive film to the conductive substrate.

Hereinafter, a method of manufacturing a metal mask having a step using the electroplating method of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 3 is a flow chart of a metal mask having a thickness step using the electroplating method according to the present invention, Figure 4 is a step-by-step cross-sectional view of the metal mask manufacturing process having a thickness step using the electroplating method according to the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 4A, the first
(S230). The patterning process of the second
After the
After forming the
(S27). When the residue of the photosensitive film remains in the opening, it is possible to perform a washing and drying process to remove the remaining photosensitive film residue (S27).
What has been described above has described one embodiment according to the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and as claimed in the following claims, without departing from the gist of the present invention, the field to which the present invention pertains.
