A high frequency inductively coupled plasma torch is a device that generates and maintains plasma by using induction heating by eddy currents in which the high frequency current applied to the induction coil is induced into the plasma in the confinement tube according to Faraday's law and ampere law. It consists of an induction coil for supplying high frequency power to the plasma, and a plasma confinement tube for separating and confining the formed high temperature and high heat thermal plasma from the surroundings, and a gas supply section for supplying plasma forming gas and sheath gas into the confinement tube. Since the basic structure was proposed by TB Reed, it has been used in many laboratories and industrial sites. High frequency inductively coupled plasma torches produce high quality thermal plasma that has a wider temperature range (8000-10000K) than general DC torches and is free from plasma contamination by electrode materials. It can be used in various fields such as melting or evaporating the reactants injected in the form of solid powder or liquid phase, pyrolysis of various reaction gases or synthesis of new materials using the same. Recently, the demand for high quality inductively coupled plasma is increasing in many fields such as nano structure, high value-added new material synthesis, waste disposal, etc., along with increasing the lifetime of the torch, increasing output and increasing coupling efficiency. Many studies are underway.
The high frequency inductively coupled plasma has a restriction on the injection of reactants in the axial direction due to the circulating backflow formed on the induction coil. Therefore, it is difficult to utilize the high temperature region inside the confinement pipe. In order to solve these problems, a method of injecting a reactant by inserting a water-cooled ceramic or metal tube into a hot center of the confined tube through a region where a circulating backflow is formed is used. However, the existing reactant injectors have an integrated structure, which makes it difficult to change or replace the injector structure to optimize the process for various process conditions such as the type of reactant, the size of the powder and the operating conditions of the torch. . In addition, conventionally developed high frequency inductively coupled plasma torches require complex reactor design by installing a separate device outside the high frequency torch for reactant injection in the use of plasma emitted through the conduit exit or nozzle. Due to the introduction of the reactant injector, the actual reaction region is far from the high temperature region where the induction heating by the high frequency power causes the plasma to be cooled, which has many problems in terms of the efficiency of the reaction.
