Abstract

PURPOSE: Structure of a tool head unit for a polishing machine is provided to maximize efficiency of the polishing machine by simplifying the pneumatic circuit of the power transmission structure for rotating the grinding tool and an automatic static pressure regulating unit, and to improve the performance of the polishing machine by reducing vibration and noise. CONSTITUTION: A tool head unit is composed of a grinding tool driving unit rotating the grinding tool and an automatic static pressure regulating unit applying contact pressure to the work piece. A tool rotating servo motor(10) is directly connected to a grinding tool rotating spindle(11) by a coupling. The automatic static pressure regulating unit has a low friction air cylinder(15) interlocking with the grinding tool, a pressure sensor measuring change of pressure in the air cylinder, an air unit having a regulator connected to the pneumatic pressure supply source applying pressure to the air cylinder, and precise regulators installed in the pipes between the air unit and the air cylinder.
