Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a surface inspection chip inspection device, and more particularly, to a lighting system used in an apparatus capable of accurately and quickly inspecting a surface mounting chip such as a multi layered ceramic capacitor. It is about.
Due to the increased use of computers in the business and education fields, the demand for larger computer capacity and faster processing time has been increasing, and accordingly, computers with improved performance and memory have been developed each year. Just a few years ago, computer memory was only megabytes, but now it has grown to gigabytes. In addition, electronic devices such as VCRs, digital televisions, cameras, camcorders, communication devices, etc. are using more computer hardware to expand their performance. Competition among many electronics companies is driving computer and computer peripheral manufacturers to design better circuits.
Electronic devices are at the center of this activity, but they are so small that manufacturers can easily overlook it. Electronic devices are devices such as small capacitors that are typically 0.1 cm (about 0.040 inch) in size. These small capacitors consist of a number of electrical conductors spaced apart in small layers of ceramic dielectric. Thousands of these small capacitors are used in computer circuits. There are also resistors of the same size and shape that are included in the general term chip. In the computer industry, these chips are soldered directly to the circuit board, eliminating the need for soldering connection wires to the computer circuit board.
These devices are so small that visual inspection is impossible without a high magnification magnifier such as a microscope. When forming solder joints for small chips, the specification requires an accuracy of about a thousandth of a millimeter. However, surface tension and other physical and chemical phenomena cause defects on the surface of the chip.
To check for defects on the surface of the chip, the most widely used method is to arrange the chip on a rotating glass plate and optically inspect the four surfaces. That is, after arranging the chips in place on the glass plate rotating at a constant speed, the images of the chips are acquired as data on each of four sides, and compared with the reference image data.
All the chip components consist of a main body part and an electrode part. Since the main body and the electrode are different in appearance and material, it is most preferable to separate the electrode and the main body and inspect the same with different illumination. However, in reality, since two equipments for screening and selecting parts are required, many problems may arise in terms of equipment price and function.
In addition, in order to detect minute defects that may occur on the product, there is a disadvantage in that it is difficult to detect minute defects of each part by irradiating the surface of the chip with the light ray at right angles.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to solve the above-described conventional problems, and in particular, to provide an illumination system configured to optimize image defects that may appear on an electrode portion and a main body portion of a chip by one illumination. It is.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide an illumination system that can irradiate light in at least three directions to obtain an image capable of precise surface analysis.
