Abstract

본 발명은 섬유상 초흡수 코어 및 일체형으로 부착된 대향층을 포함하는 흡수 구조물에 관한 것이다. 이 구조물은 열가소성 섬유와 초흡수 섬유의 혼합물의 부직 웹, 및 열가소성 소수성 섬유로 필수적으로 이루어진 웹을 형성시킴으로써 제조될 수 있다. 층들은 열결합에 의해 함께 결합된다. 이 구조물은 일회용 흡수제품, 특히 팬티라이너에 사용하기에 적합하다.

Description

[발명의 명칭]
일체형으로 부착된 소수성 대향층을 갖는 섬유상 초흡수 코어
[기술분야]
본 발명은 섬유상 초흡수 코어 및 일체형으로 부착된 소수성 대면층(facing layer)을 포함한 흡수 구조물에 관한 것이다.
체액을 흡수하기 위해 고안된 흡수제품은 전형적으로 친수성 흡수코어 및 소수성 대면층을 포함한다. 대면층의 작용은 신체로부터 체액을 흡수코어로 빨아들이는 것이다. 대면층 그 자체는 소수성이기 때문에 비교적 건조상태를 유지하며, 따라서 흡수제품 사용자의 피부와 접촉하는 습윤물의 불쾌감을 방지한다.
소수성 대면층과 친수성 흡수코어사이에 양호한 접촉성을 제공하여 대면층으로부터 코어로의 체액 운반을 향상시키는 것이 바람직하다. 또한 부피는 작지만 높은 흡수능을 갖는 흡수코어를 제공하는 것이 바람직하다. 흡수코어는 x 및 y 방향으로 체액을 양호하게 빨아들이는 것이 또한 바람직하다.
따라서 본 발명의 목적은 소수성 대면층이 일체형으로 부착된 섬유상 초흡수 코어를 제공하는 것이다. 본 발명의 다른 목적은 부피는 작지만 높은 흡수능을 갖는 코어를 제공하는 것이다.
[배경분야]
1962 년 12월 11일자로 올터딩(wolterding)등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제3,067,747호에는 수술 또는 생리혈에 사용하기 위한 흡수성 비접착성 붕대가 개시되어 있다. 이 붕대는 결합된 합성 소수성 섬유의 부직 웹의 상면시이트를 갖는다. 흡수성 웹은 면 및/또는 레이온 섬유와 열가소성 섬유의 혼합물일 수 있다. 상면 시이트는 흡수성 웹이 열결합되어 있다.
1977 년 9월 13일자로 토마스체프스키(Thomaschefsky)등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제4,047,534호는 상당량의 합성 열가소성 중합체 섬유를 포함한 흡수내층 및 열가소성 중합체 섬유의 외층을 갖는 간호용 패드에 관한 것이다. 이 층들은 열 및 저압으로 엠보싱하여 결합된다.
1983 년 8 월 9일자로 매튜스(Matthews)등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제4,397,644호에는 친수성 구배를 갖는 생리대용 상면시이트가 개시되어 있다. 상면시이트는 2 개의 층으로 이루어져 있다. 상층은 열가소성이며, 예를들어 스펀 결합된 폴리프로필렌이다. 소위 수송층은 40 내지 100의 열가소성 섬유를 함유한다.

1989 년 12 월 12 일자로 퍼델위츠(Perdelwitz, Jr.) 등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제 4,886,697 호는 열가소성 섬유와, 열가소성 물질을 함유한 커버 시이트로 커버될 수 있는 다른 섬유와의 혼합물을 포함한 적어도 하나의 층을 갖는 물질에 관한 것이다. 이 물질은 별도의 영역에 밀집되어 있으며, 결국 밀집 영역내로 단절된다. 열가소성 섬유와 다른 섬유와의 혼합물을 포함한 층은 추가로 초흡수 물질을 함유할 수 있다. 대면층은 웹과 대면층 전체를 통해 가열된 공기를 제거함으로써 흡수층에 열결합될 수 있다. 이 물질은 어린이용 카 시트에 사용하기 적합하다고 개시되어 있다.

[발명의 상세한 설명]
본 발명의 흡수 구조물은 일체형으로 부착된 소수성 대면층과 함께 섬유상 초흡수 코어를 포함한다. 구체적으로, 흡수코어는 약 5 내지 약 95의 초흡수성 섬유, 및 약 5 내지 95의 합성 열가소성 섬유를 포함한다. 소수성 대면층은 합성 소수성 열가소성 섬유를 필수성분으로 한다. 이 구조물은 소수성 대면층을 위한 하나의 카드 및 흡수 코어를 위한 하나이상의 카드(약 20 이하)를 사용하여 통상의 카딩 기계상에서 형성될 수 있다. 층들은 열공정에 의해 완전히 결합된다. 결합은 가열된 캘린더를 또는 초음파 시일링을 사용하여 수행하는 것이 바람직하다. 결합시 흡수 구조물의 부피는 상당히 감소될 수도 있다는 것은 또다른 잇점이다. 예를 들어, 흡수 구조물의 캘리퍼는 열결합 공정시 5 내지 15 배만큼 감소될 수 있다. 결합 패턴은 가열된 엠보싱 롤을 사용하는 경우에서와 같이 불연속적인 것이 바람직하다. 섬유가 결합하지 않은 영역에서 이들은 유연하고 가요적인 상태를 유지한다. 더우기, 비결합 영역에서 초흡수성 섬유는 체액을 흡수하고 결합 영역에서 보다 더욱 자유롭게 팽창한다.
대면층의 합성 소수성 섬유는 이러한 타입의 용도를 위한 분야에 공지된 임의의 섬유일 수 있다. 폴리올레핀 섬유가 바람직하며, 폴리프로필렌 섬유가 매우 바람직하다.
흡수코어의 열가소성 섬유 성분은 친수성 또는 소수성 섬유일 수 있다. 소수성 섬유를 사용하는 경우 이는 대면층의 소수성 섬유와 같거나 다를 수 있다.
당해 분야에 공지된 임의의 초흡수성 섬유는 흡수 코어내의 초흡수성 섬유로 사용될 수 있다. 초흡수성 섬유는, 수용성 초흡수성 중합체를 수용성 필라멘트로 성형시키고, 이 필라멘트를 가늘게하고 부분 건조시키는데 효과적인 속도를 갖는 제 1 공기 스트림을 필라멘트와 접촉시키며, 필라멘트를 섬유로 조각내는데 효과적인 속도를 갖는 제 2 공기스트림을 가늘어진 필라멘트와 접촉시킴으로써 형성될 수 있다. 특히 적합한 초흡수성 중합체는, 적어도 하나의 알파, 베타 -불포화 카복실 단량체와,이 단량체와 공중합 가능한 적어도 하나의 단량체와의 공중합체(1), 및 하이드록실 또는 헤테로사이클릭 카보네이트 그룹을 포함한 가교결합 작용기를 갖는 가교결합제(2)의 블렌드를 포함하는 중합체이다. 프로필렌 카보네이트와 가교결합된 말레산 무수물/이소부틸렌 공중합체, 또는 펜타에리트리톨과 부탄디올의 혼합물이 매우 바람직하다.
본 원에 사용하기에 특히 바람직한 것은 펜실바니아 뉴튼스퀘어 소재의 아코 케미칼 캄파니(Arco Chemical Company)사로부터 시판중인 초흡수성 섬유인 파이버솝(Fibersorb)이다. 이 섬유는 1989 년 8 월 8 일자로 보우란드(Bourland)등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제 4,855,179 호에 보다 상세히 개시되어 있으며, 이 특허의 개시내용은 본 원에 참고로 인용되었다. 소수성 섬유 및 초흡수성 섬유이외에, 흡수 코어는 펄프 섬유, 면 섬유 또는 레이온과 같은 추가의 흡수성 섬유를 포함할 수 있다. 바람직한 흡수코어는 약 30 내지 약 70의 소수성 섬유 및 약 70내지 약 30의 초흡수성 섬유를 포함한다.
2 개의 층을 열결합시키기 위해 엠보싱 형태를 갖는 캘린더 롤을 사용하는 것이 이롭다. 적합한 엠보싱 형태의 실례는 본원에 참고로 인용되고 1988 년 11 월 1 일자로 메기산(megisan)등에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제 4,781,710 호에 개시된 타입의 웨이퍼-형 또는 다이아몬드 형태를 갖는 것이다.
본 발명의 흡수 구조물은 매우 얇게, 즉 약 2미만, 바람직하게는 약 1미만, 전형적으로 약 0.3 내지 약 2의 두께를 갖도록 제조할 수 있다. 더우기, 흡수 구조물은 흡수 구조물의당 0.9염수 용액 0.05g 을 초과하는 흡수능을 가질 수 있다. 전형적으로, 흡수능은 1의 두께를 갖는 구조물의 경우 약 0.07g/내지 약 0.25g/의 범위내에 있다.
바람직한 흡수 구조물은 약 0.08g/내지 약 0.25g/의 밀도를 갖는다.
본 발명의 흡수 구조물은 소위 팬티라이너에 사용하기에 특히 적합하다. 팬티라이너는 월경 주기중 생리혈의 분비가 적은 날에 생리혈을 흡수하는데 사용하는 흡수패드이다. 팬티라이너는 또한 월경이외에 질 분비물을 흡수하는데 보통 사용된다.
종래의 팬티라이너는 전형적으로 소수성 액체 투과성 상면시이트, 전형적으로 목재 펄프 섬유로 이루어진 얇은 흡수코어, 및 액체 불투과성 배면시이트(보통 폴리에틸렌 필름)를 포함한다. 액체 불투과성 배면시이트의 외표면에는 착용자 팬티의 가랑이에 팬티라이너를 고정시키기 위한 감압성 접착제의 스트립 또는 블롯이 제공될 수 있다. 보통 감압성 접착제는 오염으로부터 보호되며, 부주의로 이형라이너와 접착되는 것으로부터 보호된다. 이형라이너는 팬티라이너를 팬티에 부착시키기 전에 사용자에 의해 제거된다. 팬티라이너는 12내지 약 16의 길이, 및 약 3내지 약 8의 폭을 갖는다. 특히 바람직한 팬티라이너는 가는 개뼈형태를 가지며, 길이가 약 14이고, 그의 중심부분의 가장 좁은 폭이 약 4이며, 양끝의 가장 넓은 폭은 약 7이다.
종래 팬티라이너의 예는 본원에 참고로 인용되고 1988 년 4 월 19 일자로 오스본(III)에게 허여된 미합중국 특허 제 4,738,676 호에 개시되어 있다.
본 발명의 흡수 구조물은 통상의 팬티라이너의 소수성 상면시이트 및 흡수코어를 대체한다. 액체 불투과성 배면시이트를 갖는 흡수 구조물을 제공하는것이 바람직하다. 이 배면시이트는 적합한 폴리에틸렌 또는 폴리프로필렌 필름일 수 있다. 배면시이트는 흡수 구조물에 열결합되거나 접착 결합될 수 있다. 접착 결합의 경우, 바람직한 접착 형태는 나선형 분무 또는 용융취입("천사모발") 패턴이다.
흡수 구조물의 주위를 시일링하여 초흡수성 섬유가 착용자의 피부와 접촉하지 않도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 열에 의한 엠보싱은 본 발명의 흡수 구조물의 주위를 시일링하는데 적합한 방법이다.
[바람직한 태양의 상세한 설명]
하기 3 개의 부직 웹은 부직 카딩 라인상에서 제조한다: 약 1 온스/야드2(약 30g/㎡)의 건조 중량을 갖는 폴리프로필렌 웹, 및 폴리프로필렌 섬유와 파이버솝 초흡수성 섬유의 50/50 블렌드의 2 개의 부직 웹(각각 약 1 온스/야드2(약 30g/㎡)의 건조중량을 갖는다). 3 개의 웹은 결합되며, 모든 폴리프로필렌 층은 상면 층이다. 결합된 웹은 약 1/2 인치(약 12)의 두께를 갖는다. 결합된 웹을 분당 약 25 내지 30 피트(분당 약 7.5 내지 9m)의 웹 속도 및 140내지 약 165, 바람직하게는 약 150내지 약 160의 온도에서 캘린더한다. 온도는 보다 빠른 웹 속도에서 조작하는 경우 증가시키고, 보다 느린 웹 속도에서 조작하는 경우 감소시켜 양호한 결과를 유지해야 한다. 캘린더 압력은 직선 인치당 약 160 파운드(직선당 약 29)이다. 캘린더 롤은 미합중국 특허 제 4,781,710 호에 개시된 타입의, 다이아몬 형태의 에보싱 패턴을 갖는다. 생성된 흡수 구조물은 약 0.8의 내경을 갖는다. 이 흡수 구조물은 0.9염수 용액에 대해 약 0.12g/흡수능을 갖는다. 적당한 크기를 갖는 흡수 구조물의 스트립은 폴리에틸렌 배면시이트 물질과 결합되고, 통상의 팬티라이너에 대해 상기 기술된 방법으로 팬티 고정 접착제와 함께 제공된다. 생성된 팬티라이너는 얇고 가요성이 있으며, 적당한 흡수능을 갖는다.
선택적 태양으로 액체 불투과성 배면시이트는 다음과 같이 형성된다: 캘린더링 하기 전에 상기 기술된 부직 웹은 열 융합 섬유, 예를들어 폴리에틸렌 섬유로 필수적으로 이루어진 추가의 웹과 결합시킨다. 저층은 섬유의 열 융합에 의해, 예를들어 가열된 캘린더 롤을 사용하거나, 또는 적외선 조사에 의해 액체 불투과성이 되게 한다.
유사한 구조물은 폴리프로필렌 섬유의 층 1 개 및 폴리프로필렌/파이버솝 섬유의 85/15 혼합물 층 3 개를 사용하여 형성된다.

Claims (12)

  1. 약 5내지 약 95의 초흡수성 섬유 및 약 5내지 약 95의 합성 열가소성 섬유를 포함하는 섬유상 초흡수 코어, 및 합성 소수성 열가소성 섬유를 필수성분으로 하고 흡수 코어에 일체형으로 부착된 소수성 대면층을 포함하는 흡수 구조물.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 약 0.3내지 약 2의 두께, 및 흡수 구조물의당 약 0.05g 내지 약 0.25g의 0.9염수 용액에 대한 흡수능을 갖는 흡수 구조물.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 합성 소수성 열가소성 섬유가 폴리올레핀 섬유인 흡수 구조물.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 초흡수성 섬유가 말레산 무수물과 이소부틸렌의 공중합체를 포함하는 흡수 구조물.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 흡수코어가 약 30 내지 약 70의 초흡수성 섬유 및 약 30 내지 약 70의 합성 열가소성 섬유를 포함하는 흡수 구조물.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 초흡수성 섬유가 말레산 무수물과 이소부틸렌의 공중합체를 포함하는 흡수 구조물.
  7. 제5항에 있어서, 합성 소수성 열가소성 섬유가 폴리프로필렌 섬유인 흡수 구조물.
