Description
The present invention relates to a light guide device for emitting incident light, an optical waveguide device, a multi-wavelength light source module using the light guide device or the optical waveguide device, and a method for manufacturing the optical waveguide device.
Conventionally, a plurality of wavelengths of laser light are used, such as a projector device that emits laser light of each of the three primary colors RGB to display a color image and a diagnostic device that performs sensing using visible light and infrared light (IR light). There are various devices. In these devices, usually, laser lights of a plurality of wavelengths are separately emitted from laser light sources that generate lights of respective wavelengths, and combined by an optical combiner (combiner) to form a single beam. Is output. At this time, an optical waveguide is used for guiding the incident light to a position for combining and for emitting the combined light.
Examples of the optical waveguide include a hollow light guide and a PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) using a glass material (silicon) as a medium. The PLC can be formed, for example, on a silicon substrate using a well-known semiconductor manufacturing process. In such an optical waveguide, there is known a technique in which a deflecting portion in which the direction of the optical waveguide is changed is provided with a mirror surface member such as aluminum so that the incident laser light is totally reflected (Patent Document 1).
In the above configuration, it is necessary to provide a mirror surface member on the bent portion, which complicates the device configuration and complicates the manufacturing process. Further, the laser beam is not always totally reflected, and a part may leak from the bent portion.
Therefore, according to the present invention, by the new configuration different from the above configuration, when the incident light is emitted, even if there is a deflecting unit in which the direction of the route changes in the path of the light, light leakage is prevented in the deflecting unit. An object of the present invention is to provide a light guide device, an optical waveguide device, and a method for manufacturing the optical waveguide device that can be suppressed.

FIG. 1A is a plan view of a

Each of the three
The
In such a
According to one embodiment, the refractive index n1 of the
According to one embodiment, the
As shown in FIG. 1(a), the
As shown in FIG. 1A, in the
The separation distance Δ can be set to, for example, more than 1 times the outer diameter φ of the
The

FIG. 2A is a diagram showing an example of a cross section of the
The

The
Such an
The core (optical waveguide) 114 is a continuous medium, that is, a continuous material that extends from the entrance to the exit and is made of the same material. Since there is no boundary surface such as a surface, there is no obstacle that refracts light or induces light leakage.
The upper clad
Such a device configuration can be manufactured by a semiconductor process. FIG. 2B is a diagram showing an example of a laminated structure in the process of manufacturing the

FIG. 3 is a plan view showing another example of the path of the optical waveguide in the

The

A raw clad

After that, the side surfaces on both sides of the

Thereafter, the laminated structure shown in FIG. 4C is subjected to a second etching using the

FIG. 5 is a plan view of an
Each of the
The

Here, the inclination angle of the inclined surfaces of the deflecting portions 322a1, 322a2, 322c1, 322c2 with respect to the linear portion can be set to, for example, 45°±3. As a result, the deflecting portions 322a1, 322a2, 322c1, 322c2 (corner portions) can be sharply bent, the inclination angle of the

According to one embodiment, the

光導波路314a,314b,314c(第1光導波路、第2光導波路、及び第3光導波路)の合流部324は、光導波路314a,314c(第2光導波路、及び第3光導波路)それぞれの2つの偏向部(コーナー部)の場所に対して出射口320の側に位置する。
As described above, the entrances of the

Further, as shown in FIG. 5, the

図7(b)は、図7(a)に示すA−A’の矢視断面図であり、図7(c)は、図7(a)に示すB−B’の矢視断面図である。The

As shown in FIGS. 7B and 7C, the
As shown in FIG. 7 (b), the
As shown in FIG. 7D, a

FIG. 8 is a plan view of an

An inclined surface is formed outside the corners of the deflecting
