Description
The present disclosure relates to an optical pickup and an optical recording / reproducing apparatus that simultaneously reproduce information recorded while recording information on an optical recording medium such as an optical tape.
In recent years, the quality of digital data such as videos and photographs has been improved and the digitalization of paper media has been promoted, and the amount of data has been rapidly increasing. In particular, in a model called cloud computing that uses various applications and services using servers and storage on the network, many users store various data in the network storage. To do. For this reason, the data accumulation amount becomes enormous.
Conventionally, a magnetic tape device has been frequently used as a storage application for storage. As an alternative, there has been proposed an optical tape device that utilizes a high-density recording technique using light to simultaneously record and reproduce information on an optical tape medium with a plurality of optical pickups. For example,
In a conventional magnetic tape apparatus, a recording head and a reproducing head are individually arranged on a track for recording data. By recording the data with the recording head and reproducing the recorded data with the reproducing head, it is possible to verify (verify) whether the data has been recorded correctly. Thereby, the magnetic tape apparatus ensures the reliability of data recording.
このような技術は、DRAW(Direct Read After Write)と呼ばれる。 A technique for performing verification is also known in an optical recording / reproducing apparatus that performs recording / reproduction on an optical disk using light. Such a technique is called DRAW (Direct Read After Write). An optical recording / reproducing apparatus using DRAW technology divides a light beam emitted from a laser light source into a zero-order light beam and a ± first-order light beam using a diffraction grating, and these divided light beams are recorded on a recording layer of an optical disc. Irradiate. Verification can be performed by recording data by irradiating zero-order light and detecting ± first-order light reflected from the optical disk.
According to the DRAW technique, an error check of the recording mark is performed immediately after the recording mark is formed on the track by the zero-order light beam, so that the processing speed is increased as compared with the case where the error check is performed after all the recording is completed. be able to. As a result, the data transfer rate in the optical recording / reproducing apparatus can be increased. A recording / reproducing apparatus using the DRAW technology is disclosed in
On the other hand, in an optical recording / reproducing apparatus, it is necessary to form a recording beam spot and a reproducing beam spot on a recording track in a recording layer. In order to maintain these beam spots at appropriate positions with high accuracy, it is necessary to perform tracking control and focus control. The magnitudes of the focus shift and the track shift are indicated by a “focus error signal” and a “tracking error signal” generated based on the reflected light from the optical recording medium, respectively.
As a focus control method in a conventional optical disk apparatus, for example, an astigmatism method has been known for a long time, and is still used in many optical disk apparatuses. As another method, a spot size detection method (Spot Size Detection method: SSD method) is known. Focus control by the SSD method is disclosed in
On the other hand, as a tracking control method in a conventional optical disc apparatus, for example, a push-pull method (PP method), an advanced push-pull method (APP method), and a collect far-field method (CFF method) are known. Tracking control by the PP method, the APP method, and the CFF method is disclosed in
Since the conventional optical recording / reproducing apparatus mainly assumes an optical disk as a recording medium, tracking control is performed for an optical recording medium such as an optical tape in which the track position may fluctuate greatly during recording / reproduction. And focus control could not be performed stably.
One embodiment of the present disclosure is a light that realizes a DRAW function and that can stabilize tracking and focus performance even for an optical recording medium that has a relatively large track position variation (shift amount of an objective lens) during operation. A pickup and an optical recording / reproducing apparatus are provided.
Furthermore, another embodiment of the present disclosure provides a simple and compact optical pickup and an optical recording / reproducing apparatus that can obtain an RF signal with a high S / N ratio while stabilizing tracking and focusing performance.
An optical pickup according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is an optical pickup that reads data recorded on a track while recording data on a track of an optical recording medium, the light source emitting a light beam, and the light source A diffraction element that separates the light beam emitted from the light into a plurality of light beams including a main beam for recording and a sub beam for reproduction; and the main beam and the sub beam are focused on the same track of the optical recording medium An objective lens configured as described above, and a wave plate disposed on an optical path from the diffraction element to the optical recording medium, the polarization direction of light incident on the wave plate from the diffraction element and the optical recording medium A plurality of diffraction regions having different diffraction characteristics and a wave plate designed so that the polarization direction of the light reflected by and transmitted through the wave plate is orthogonal to each other. A polarization hologram element designed such that each diffraction region is separated from a light beam reflected by the optical recording medium and transmitted through the wave plate into a zero-order light beam and a ± first-order light beam, and focus control And an actuator that integrally drives the objective lens and the polarization hologram element for tracking control, and light configured to detect a light beam reflected by the optical recording medium and diffracted by the polarization hologram element A detector that generates an RF signal from the detection result of the zero-order light beam based on the main beam, and generates a focus error signal and a tracking error signal from one of the detection results of the ± first-order light beam based on the main beam Then, a signal indicating that the data has been normally recorded is generated from the detection result of the zero-order light beam based on the sub beam. And a photodetector for.
According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a high-quality focus error signal, tracking error signal, and RF signal can be obtained with a simple detector configuration. In particular, even an optical recording / reproducing apparatus having a relatively large shift amount of the objective lens, such as an optical tape apparatus, can perform stable tracking control and focus control.
Furthermore, according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, a signal for off-track detection and phase difference TE detection of a sub beam used for DRAW can be generated simultaneously. Therefore, an optical recording / reproducing apparatus that performs a stable operation can be realized with a simple configuration.
Hereinafter, embodiments will be described in detail with reference to the drawings as appropriate. However, more detailed description than necessary may be omitted. For example, detailed descriptions of already well-known matters and redundant descriptions of substantially the same configuration may be omitted. This is to prevent the explanation from becoming unnecessarily redundant and to facilitate understanding by those skilled in the art.
In addition, the inventors provide the accompanying drawings and the following description in order for those skilled in the art to fully understand the present disclosure, and these are intended to limit the subject matter described in the claims. is not.
Before describing specific embodiments, first, knowledge that is the basis of the present disclosure will be described.
The conventional optical disk apparatus performs recording and reproduction on the entire disk surface by moving one optical pickup mounted on a transfer mechanism (actuator) in the radial direction over the entire area from the inner periphery to the outer periphery of the optical disk. Is going.
On the other hand, when an optical tape is used as the optical recording medium, as disclosed in
Also, when the optical tape is running, the position of each track is determined based on the position of the edge of the tape determined by the tape guide, so that the position of the track groove relative to the position of the optical pickup (referred to as “runout” of the optical tape) occurs. To do. This position variation is approximately ± 0.1 to 0.3 mm, although it depends on the environment.
Therefore, even if the error at the time of manufacturing the optical tape is ignored, in order to follow the track, a shift of the objective lens of about ± 0.3 to 0.5 mm in total is required.
In a conventional optical disc apparatus such as a BD, it is necessary to follow an objective lens of about ± 0.05 mm for a recording disc and about ± 0.1 mm for a reproducing disc, and the design is movable about ± 0.2 mm. It has been considered sufficient to ensure the range. However, in the optical tape device, it is necessary to move the objective lens over a very wide range of 1.5 times to 2 times or more the movable range in the optical disk device.
However, as described below, when the objective lens is moved over such a wide range, stable tracking control and focus control cannot be performed with the conventional control method. Therefore, the present inventors have realized the DRAW function and have stable tracking control and focus even for an optical recording medium such as an optical tape that has a large positional variation (shift amount of the objective lens) of the track in operation. The configuration and control method for realizing the control were studied.
Hereinafter, problems in the conventional control method will be described in more detail. In the following description, the focus error signal may be referred to as “FE signal” or “focus signal”, and the tracking error signal may be referred to as “TE signal” or “tracking signal”.
(Problem of focus control using astigmatism method)
When an astigmatism method that has been widely used as a focus error signal detection method is adopted for an optical pickup in which the shift amount of the objective lens by the actuator of the optical pickup is large, the following problems arise.
FIG. 10A shows an optical pickup employing the astigmatism method, in which there is no deviation between the position of the detector and the position of the light spot formed on the detector (PDx = 0), and the shift of the objective lens. FIG. 6 is a diagram showing a calculation result of an FE signal in a state (hereinafter, sometimes referred to as “lens shift”) (LS = 0). FIG. 10B schematically shows the state of the light spot on the detector at this time. The horizontal axis in FIG. 10A represents the position of the objective lens when the position of the objective lens in the focused state is the origin, the direction away from the optical recording medium is the positive direction, and the approaching direction is the negative direction. The absolute value represents the degree of defocus. As shown in FIG. 10B, in the focused state (Just Focus), a light spot having a nearly circular shape is formed near the center of the detector, and in the out-of-focus state (Defocus), it is obliquely long. An elliptical light spot is formed. In this case, as shown in the graph of FIG. 10A, a good FE signal waveform generally called “S-curve” is obtained.
On the other hand, in FIG. 10C, the position of the light spot on the detector is shifted by 5 μm in the X direction in the drawing (PDx = 5 μm), and the lens shift is 0.5 mm (LS = LS) due to, for example, the effects of adjustment deviation and change with time. It is a figure which shows the calculation result of the FE signal in the state which is 0.5 mm). FIG. 10D is a diagram schematically showing the state of the light spot on the detector at this time. In this case, as shown in the graph of FIG. 10C, the waveform of the FE signal is greatly distorted, the focus balance (balance between the + side FE signal and the − side FE signal) is deteriorated, and the focus offset (defocus is 0). Focus control cannot be performed due to the influence that the offset of the DC component of the FE signal becomes a large value exceeding 20% of the amplitude. For this reason, it is difficult to employ the astigmatism method as a focus error signal detection method.

Next, a tracking error signal (TE signal) will be considered.
As described above, an optical pickup having a DRAW function splits a light beam emitted from a light source into a main beam (recording beam) and a sub beam (playback beam) and places a plurality of light spots on the same track. To form.
However, in the TE signal detection method using the three-beam method (DPP method: differential push-pull method) that is generally used, the light spot formed by the sub-beam and the light spot formed by the main beam are perpendicular to the track. (Hereinafter, referred to as “tracking direction”) needs to be shifted by a half pitch of the track. For this reason, an optical pickup having a DRAW function cannot detect a tracking signal by a three-beam method using a sub beam spot. Therefore, a one-beam tracking detection method is adopted. Here, the one-beam method is a method for obtaining a tracking error signal using only the main beam.
(Problems of tracking control using PP and APP methods)
As described above, for example, the push-pull method (PP method) and the advanced push-pull method (APP method) are often used as the tracking detection method by the one-beam method in an optical disc apparatus or the like. However, when these conventional tracking detection methods are applied as they are to an optical tape device, the following problems arise.
First, in the PP method, when the TE signal offset is originally large due to the lens shift, and this is applied to an optical tape device having a large lens shift amount, tracking control is extremely unstable and track jumping is likely to occur.
On the other hand, there is the APP method as a method for improving the offset of the TE signal at the time of lens shift, but the APP method also has the following problems when the lens shift amount is large.
11A and 11B are diagrams showing the calculation results of the TE signal when the lens shift range is assumed to be ± 0.5 mm in the APP method. FIG. 11A shows a change in TE offset with respect to the lens shift amount in this case. Here, the TE offset is defined by TE offset (%) = (TA−TB) / 2 (TA + TB) × 100. TA and TB represent the positive amplitude and the negative amplitude of the tracking error signal, respectively. As shown in the graph of FIG. 11A, when the absolute value of the lens shift becomes larger than 0.3 mm, the TE offset increases rapidly.
FIG. 11B shows a change in the amplitude of the TE signal with respect to the lens shift amount in this case. As shown in this graph, when the absolute value of the lens shift is larger than 0.3 mm, the amplitude rapidly decreases. As a result, the loop gain of the tracking control changes greatly, and the operation becomes unstable. Therefore, the APP method cannot be applied to an optical tape device that requires a lens shift amount of about 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm.
(Problem of combination of SSD method and CFF method)
For the above reasons, a combination of SSD focus error detection and CFF tracking error detection is considered as a detection method.
A detection method that combines the SSD method and the CFF method is disclosed in, for example,

When the light receiving surface of the
On the other hand, when the light receiving surface of the
Therefore, as in
Furthermore, the optical pickup having the DRAW function has the following problems.
An optical pickup having a DRAW function branches a light beam emitted from a light source into a plurality of light beams including a main beam (recording beam) and a sub beam (playback beam). For this reason, the three light spots of the main (0th order) and the sub (+ 1st order, −1st order) correspond to the diffracted light (0th order light, + 1st order light, −1st order light) from the
Since the sub-beam for DRAW is a beam for signal reproduction when verifying data being recorded, it is necessary to obtain an appropriate spot quality on the recording layer of the recording medium. In particular, in order to suppress off-axis aberration to some extent, it is necessary to reduce the spot interval between the main beam and the sub beam on the recording layer. However, as described above, the main and sub light spots are generated on the detector corresponding to the zero-order light and the ± first-order light by the
Due to various problems as described above, there has conventionally been no detection system that is an optical pickup having a DRAW function and can cope with a large lens shift. The present inventors have completed the optical pickup according to the present disclosure based on the above examination results.
Hereinafter, an optical pickup according to an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
(Embodiment 1)
First, the optical pickup in the first embodiment will be described.
[1-1. overall structure]
FIG. 1A is a schematic diagram illustrating a configuration of an optical system of the optical pickup according to the present embodiment.
The optical pickup includes a
The
The
The
The
The
The quarter-
The
In the present embodiment, the
The

[1-2. Operation]
Next, the operation of the optical pickup of this embodiment will be described.
[1-2-1. Overview of operation]

FIG. 2A schematically shows how light travels in the forward path, that is, the path from the
These three beams are incident on the
In this embodiment, since the 0th order light is used as a recording beam and the ± 1st order light is used as a reproduction beam, the diffraction mark (diffraction efficiency) in the
On the other hand, FIG. 2B schematically shows how light travels in the return path, that is, the path from the
These plural beams are incident on the
In this embodiment, as will be described later, 0th-order light and + 1st-order light based on the main beam are used as an RF signal and a servo signal, respectively. In order to mainly secure the S / N of the RF signal while ensuring the quality of the servo signal, the diffraction ratio of the 0th order light and the + 1st order light by the
In this way, by using the

Further, as shown in FIG. 3B, a focus signal by the SSD method is obtained using the + 1st order diffracted light of the
At this time, the -1st order diffracted light on the opposite side is slightly diverging light. For this reason, this is not used in this embodiment. That is, the optical pickup according to the present embodiment is characterized in that an RF signal is obtained with 0th-order light and a servo signal is obtained with only + 1st-order light.

[1-2-3. Details of Photodetector 10]
FIG. 4B is a plan view showing the arrangement of a plurality of light receiving elements included in the
RF=A+B+C+D (式1)The
RF = A + B + C + D (Formula 1)
In order to ensure the responsiveness necessary for generating the RF signal, the position of the light receiving surface of the

[1-2-4. Servo signal detection]
Next, detection of servo signals, that is, focus signals and tracking signals will be described.
Regions G and K in which the light spots D1 to D4 are divided into two in the Y direction by the diffracted light beam diffracted and branched by the
Here, the light receiving portion (a pair of regions G and K and a pair of regions H and L) that receives the diffracted light from the regions R1 and R4 of the
The focus signal detection method will be described below. The optical pickup of this embodiment detects a focus signal by the SSD method.
FIG. 4C is a diagram schematically showing a light beam (+ 1st order diffracted light based on the main beam) diffracted and branched in the R1 to R4 region of the
Here, when the defocus between the
FE(SSD)=(G+L+M+J)−(K+H+I+N) (式2)The focus signal FE (SSD) can be obtained by performing the following (Equation 2) operation based on the principle of the SSD method. Signals indicating the amounts of light received in the regions G to H are respectively represented by G to H.
FE (SSD) = (G + L + M + J) − (K + H + I + N) (Formula 2)
Here, let us consider a case where a lens shift larger than the conventional one is required, such as an optical pickup suitable for an optical tape.
The lens shift direction is the X direction because it is perpendicular to the track. When the lens shift is performed, the light spots D1 to D4 on the
In the present embodiment, the influence due to the wavelength variation of the light emitted from the
As described above, the shift in the X direction does not affect the focus signal, but the shift in the Y direction has an effect. For this reason, the spot size is set so that an appropriate S-shaped sensitivity can be obtained and the deterioration of the focus signal is reduced even if a deviation in the Y direction occurs. Specifically, the width in the Y direction of each detection region from G to N is designed to be about 0.8 to 1.5 times the radius of the light spot formed on each light receiving portion. The “radius of the light spot” refers to the radius of the circle when the shape of the light spot is a sector shape that is a part of a circle as in the present embodiment.
In this embodiment, the focus signal is generated by the SSD method, but the focus signal may be generated by another method such as a knife edge method.
Next, a tracking signal detection method will be described. In the present embodiment, a tracking signal by the CFF method is generated.
In the present embodiment, the tracking signal is also detected using the same G to N detection regions.
TE(CFF)=(G+H+K+L)−(I+J+M+N) (式3)As indicated by a broken line in FIG. 4A, a part of the diffracted light from the tracking groove enters the region of the
TE (CFF) = (G + H + K + L) − (I + J + M + N) (Formula 3)
This calculation is equivalent to dividing the light beam section into two by a straight line in the Y direction passing through the aperture center O 1 of the
Next, characteristics of the focus signal and tracking signal according to the present embodiment with respect to lens shift will be described.
5A and 5B are diagrams illustrating characteristics of the focus signal with respect to lens shift. FIG. 5A shows a focus signal waveform with respect to defocus (deviation from the focus position of the objective lens in the Z direction) in a state where there is neither detector deviation nor lens shift. FIG. 5B shows a focus signal waveform in a state where the detector is shifted by 5 μm in the affected Y direction and a lens shift of 0.5 mm is added. As can be seen from these figures, the S-shaped curve in the focus signal is hardly affected by the lens shift. As shown in FIG. 5B, according to the present embodiment, the amount of change in focus balance due to the lens shift can be suppressed to 0.04%, and the amount of change in focus balance can be suppressed to −0.37%. did it.
5C and 5D are diagrams illustrating characteristics of the tracking signal with respect to lens shift. FIG. 5C shows the dependence of the TE offset on the lens shift amount (the amount of movement of the objective lens from the reference position in the X direction). FIG. 5D shows the dependence of the TE amplitude on the lens shift amount. The solid line in the figure indicates the result of this embodiment (CFF method), and the broken line indicates the result of the conventional APP method. As shown by these results, according to the present embodiment, even when the lens shift amount exceeds 0.3 mm, for example, changes in the TE offset and the TE amplitude can be suppressed to be small.
Furthermore, in this embodiment, a tracking signal (generally referred to as a DPD signal; referred to as a differential phase detection signal) by a phase difference method can also be obtained. The tracking signal TE (DPD) by the phase difference method is generated by comparing the phase difference between (G + K + I + M) and (H + J + L + N).
Further, in the configuration of the present optical pickup, a total of three beams of the recording beam and the two DRAW beams are formed in the forward path, so that the diffraction branching in the X direction by the
TE(DRAW1)=(O+P)−(Q+R) (式4)
TE(DRAW2)=(S+T)−(U+V) (式5)In the configuration of the present optical pickup, these sub-spots can also be received by the light receiving portions of O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, and V in the detector configuration shown in FIG. 4B. That is, an off-track signal of a DRAW beam (sub beam) can be obtained by the following calculation of (Expression 4) or (Expression 5).
TE (DRAW1) = (O + P) − (Q + R) (Formula 4)
TE (DRAW2) = (S + T) − (U + V) (Formula 5)
Alternatively, for the sake of simplicity, the light receiving portions O and P, Q and R, S and T, and U and V may be integrated.
Thereby, the tracking control is performed using the TE signal (Equation 3) by the CFF method based on the detection result of the recording beam (main beam). However, as in the case where an inclination occurs in the track direction of an optical tape or the like, the DRAW is performed. When off-track occurs in a spot, the off-track amount can be detected.
However, these sub-spots (spots formed on each light receiving portion of the
Therefore, the focal length of the objective lens is f1, the combined focal length of the
[1-3. Effect]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, it is possible to obtain a stable servo signal even for a relatively large lens shift while detecting an RF signal by a recording beam and a DRAW signal by a DRAW beam. In addition, it is possible to realize an optical pickup having a tracking detection function using a phase difference method and a DRAW beam off-track detection function. Many types of signal detection can be realized with a very simple detector configuration, and the number of signal pins of the detector can be reduced, so that circuits such as a flexible substrate and a front-end processor can be simplified.
As described above, the optical pickup of this embodiment can read the data recorded on the track while recording the data on the track of the
In the present embodiment, in particular, the
Thereby, a stable servo signal can be obtained as compared with the conventional configuration in which the focus error signal and the tracking error signal are generated using the detection results of both the ± first-order light beams based on the main beam. In particular, even if the
[1-4. Modified example]
Next, the device pattern will be described. The following detector patterns may be adopted as necessary.
6A and 6B are diagrams showing a modification of the
In general, a focus signal sum (Fsum signal) is often used to determine whether or not focus control is out of focus (focus skip) in an optical recording / reproducing apparatus. On the other hand, when 0th-order light having a large amount of light enters the FE detector by defocusing, the influence on the Fsum signal is increased, leading to erroneous detection of focus skip.
RA=NA×fo×(D+ΔZ)/(fc+ΔZ) (式6)For this reason, in the configuration example shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, the
RA = NA × fo × (D + ΔZ) / (fc + ΔZ) (Formula 6)
ΔZ=2×(fc/fo)2×df (式7)ΔZ represents the amount of movement of the condensing point of the collimating lens with respect to the defocus amount df, and is represented by (Expression 7).
ΔZ = 2 × (fc / fo) 2 × df (Formula 7)
L1>RA1(式8)In general, in a system that performs recording and reproduction by light, the amount of Fsum signal light is sufficiently low if there is a defocus of about 10 μm or more. For this reason, if L1 is determined to satisfy the relationship of (Equation 8) when the radius of the zero-order light spot at 10 μm defocus is RA1, the influence can be reduced.
L1> RA1 (Formula 8)
Further, in the example shown in FIG. 6A, a gap L2 is also provided between two light receiving portions (a pair of H and L and a pair of I and M) that receive the detection light spots D4 and D3, respectively. This is because the spots interfere with each other when the detection lights D2 and D3 are defocused, so that a change in the amount of light due to this interference is prevented from being superimposed on the FE signal. In addition, if each light receiving part of the
As described above, according to the configuration of FIGS. 6A and 6B, it is possible to realize an optical pickup in which the focus jump detection operation at the time of defocusing and the FE signal quality is further stable.
(Embodiment 2)
Next, a second embodiment of the present disclosure will be described. The optical pickup of the present embodiment is the same as that of the first embodiment except for the configuration of the

FIG. 7A is a schematic configuration diagram of a detection system in the present embodiment, FIG. 7B is a schematic sectional view of the
As shown in FIG. 7A, in the present embodiment, the RF signal is not detected based on the 0th-order light of the main beam (recording beam), but is detected based on the + 1st-order light of the main beam, similar to the servo signal. . In order to ensure the S / N ratio of the RF signal, a blazed
RF=G+H+M+N+K+L+I+J (式9)The RF signal in the present embodiment is obtained by the following (Equation 9).
RF = G + H + M + N + K + L + I + J (Formula 9)
RF(DRAW1)=O+P+Q+R (式10)
RF(DRAW2)=S+T+U+V (式11)Further, the reproduction signal RF (DRAW1) by the DRAW beam is obtained by the following (Expression 10) or (Expression 11).
RF (DRAW1) = O + P + Q + R (Formula 10)
RF (DRAW2) = S + T + U + V (Formula 11)
That is, according to the present embodiment, the configuration of the detector is further simplified, and the problem of the influence on the Fsum signal described with reference to FIGS. 6A and 6B is also solved because the amount of zero-order light is small. I can do it.
In this embodiment, the area division of the
Thus, in the present embodiment, the configuration of the

(Problems of tracking control using DPP method)
A detection method that combines the SSD method and the CFF method is disclosed in, for example,
FIG. 12A generates an RF signal, an FE signal, and a TE signal based on the 0th order light, the + 1st order light, and the −1st order light generated from the light reflected from the optical recording medium and incident on the
When the light receiving surface of the
On the other hand, when the light receiving surface of the
Therefore, as in
Furthermore, the optical pickup having the DRAW function has the following problems.

(Embodiment 1)
First, the optical pickup in the first embodiment will be described.
[1-1. overall structure]
FIG. 1A is a schematic diagram illustrating a configuration of an optical system of the optical pickup according to the present embodiment.

The

The
The
The
The quarter-
The
In the present embodiment, the
The

[1-2. Operation]
Next, the operation of the optical pickup of this embodiment will be described.
[1-2-1. Overview of operation]
The laser light emitted from the

In order to mainly secure the S / N of the RF signal while ensuring the quality of the servo signal, the diffraction ratio of the 0th order light and the + 1st order light by the
In this way, by using the
FIG. 3A is a simplified side view showing the relationship between the diffracted light beam by the
The
In the present embodiment, the position in the Z direction of the light receiving surface of the
Further, as shown in FIG.

FIG. 4B is a plan view showing the arrangement of a plurality of light receiving elements included in the
RF=A+B+C+D (式1)
The
RF = A + B + C + D (Formula 1)
In order to ensure the responsiveness necessary for generating the RF signal, the position of the light receiving surface of the
Here, the

Here, the light receiving portion (a pair of regions G and K and a pair of regions H and L) that receives the diffracted light from the regions R1 and R4 of the
The focus signal detection method will be described below. The optical pickup of this embodiment detects a focus signal by the SSD method.
FIG. 4C is a diagram schematically showing a light beam (+ 1st order diffracted light based on the main beam) diffracted and branched in the R1 to R4 region of the
Here, when the defocus between the
FE(SSD)=(G+L+M+J)−(K+H+I+N) (式2)
The focus signal FE (SSD) can be obtained by performing the following (Equation 2) operation based on the principle of the SSD method.
TE(CFF)=(G+H+K+L)−(I+J+M+N) (式3)
As indicated by a broken line in FIG.
TE(DRAW2)=(S+T)−(U+V) (式5)
In the configuration of the present optical pickup, these sub-spots can also be received by the light receiving portions of O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, and V in the detector configuration shown in FIG.
RA=NA×fo×(D+ΔZ)/(fc+ΔZ) (式6)
For this reason, in the configuration example shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, the
RA = NA × fo × (D + ΔZ) / (fc + ΔZ) (Formula 6)
ΔZ=2×(fc/fo)2×df (式7)
ΔZ represents the amount of movement of the condensing point of the collimating lens with respect to the defocus amount df, and is represented by (Expression 7).
ΔZ = 2 × (fc / fo) 2 × df (Formula 7)
L1>RA1(式8)
In general, in a system that performs recording and reproduction by light, the amount of Fsum signal light is sufficiently low if there is a defocus of about 10 μm or more.

RF=G+H+M+N+K+L+I+J (式9)
The RF signal in the present embodiment is obtained by the following (Equation 9).
RF = G + H + M + N + K + L + I + J (Formula 9)
RF(DRAW1)=O+P+Q+R (式10)
RF(DRAW2)=S+T+U+V (式11)
Further, the reproduction signal RF (DRAW1) by the DRAW beam is obtained by the following (Expression 10) or (Expression 11).

When an optical tape is used as the optical recording medium, a plurality of rollers for running the optical tape are used. Also, the optical tape device can include a plurality of optical pickups to simultaneously record or reproduce data on a plurality of tracks on the optical tape.
