Abstract
An exhaust gas purification device for an internal combustion engine includes a NOx storage reduction catalyst device disposed in an engine exhaust passage. The NOX storage reduction catalyst device stores SOX simultaneously with NOX. When the stored amount of SOX exceeds a predetermined allowable amount, the temperature of the NOX catalyst device is raised to a temperature at which SOX can be released, and then the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NOX catalyst device is changed to the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. Alternatively, SOX is released by SOX release control for enrichment. The NOX catalyst device has a residual SOX storage amount that finally remains even if the SOX release control is performed, depending on the temperature of the NOX catalyst device when the SOX release control is being performed. Based on the remaining SOX storage amount of the current SOX release control, the SOX release rate at each time in the current SOX release control is calculated.
Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine.
Examples of exhaust gas from internal combustion engines such as diesel engines and gasoline engines include carbon monoxide (CO), unburned fuel (HC), nitrogen oxide (NO x ), and particulate matter (PM). Contains ingredients. An exhaust gas purification device is attached to the internal combustion engine to purify these components.
As one of the methods for removing nitrogen oxides, it has been proposed that a NO X storage reduction catalyst is disposed in the engine exhaust passage. The NO X storage reduction catalyst stores NO X when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas is lean. When the stored amount of NO X reaches an allowable amount, the stored NO X is released by making the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas rich or the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. The released NO X is reduced to N 2 by a reducing agent such as carbon monoxide contained in the exhaust gas.
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-314311 discloses a purification device in which a nitrogen oxide purification catalyst is disposed in an exhaust gas passage of an internal combustion engine. It is disclosed that a nitrogen oxide purification catalyst has a noble metal and a nitrogen oxide scavenger, and the nitrogen oxide purification catalyst captures nitrogen oxide as NO 2 at an air fuel ratio higher than the stoichiometric air fuel ratio. ing. Further, it is disclosed that the trap material for nitrogen oxide captures SO X , but the trapped SO X can be removed by using a reducing atmosphere. Further, it is disclosed that the temperature for removing the trapped SO X is desirably 500 ° C. or higher.
The exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine may contain sulfur oxide (SO x ). The NO X storage reduction catalyst stores SO X simultaneously with NO X storage. When SO X is occluded, the amount of NO X that can be occluded decreases. Thus, so-called sulfur poisoning occurs in the NO X storage reduction catalyst. In order to eliminate sulfur poisoning, a sulfur poisoning recovery process that releases SO X is performed. In the sulfur poisoning recovery process, the SO X is released by making the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas rich or the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio while the NO X storage reduction catalyst is heated.
During the sulfur poisoning recovery process of the NO X storage reduction catalyst, SO X is released into the atmosphere. When the release rate of SO X is high, a large amount of SO X is released in a short time, and thus problems such as odor arise.
On the other hand, thermal degradation occurs in the NO X storage reduction catalyst. When the thermal deterioration occurs, for example, the NO X storable amount decreases. Thermal degradation proceeds faster as the temperature of the NO X storage reduction catalyst increases. When the sulfur poisoning recovery process is performed, the temperature rise state is continued for a long time. For this reason, thermal degradation proceeds relatively quickly during the sulfur poisoning recovery process.
In the prior art, the target temperature and regeneration time of the NO X storage reduction catalyst are set in advance, and the sulfur poisoning recovery process is performed while maintaining the target temperature during this regeneration time. Alternatively, the SO X release rate can be detected by using a map having a function of the fuel injection amount and temperature in the combustion chamber. The SO X release amount can be calculated from the SO X release rate. However, the SO X release rate detected by the conventional technique includes a relatively large error. For this reason, at the time of the sulfur poisoning recovery treatment, the NO X storage reduction catalyst may be exposed to an unnecessarily high temperature atmosphere, and thermal deterioration may have progressed excessively. It is preferable that the SO X release rate during the sulfur poisoning recovery process can be detected with high accuracy.

電子制御ユニット30は、双方性バス31によって互いに接続されたROM(リードオンリメモリ)32、RAM(ランダムアクセスメモリ)33、CPU(マイクロプロセッサ)34、入力ポート35および出力ポート36を含む。
R=f(T,S,CO) …(1)
R=A×exp(−Ea/RT)×[SOX][CO] …(2)
Rt1=f(Tt1,St1 *,COt1) …(4)
ΔMt=Rt1×Δt …(5)
πr1 2∝Me…(9)
πr1 2=kMe(k:定数)
r1=(k/π×Me)1/2 …(10)
πr2 2∝Mt1 …(11)
πr2 2=kMt1(k:定数)
r2=(k/π×Mt1)1/2 …(12)
r2/r1=(Mt1/Me)1/2 …(13)

r2/r1=(Mt1/Me)1/3 …(18)
Rt1 *=Rt1×(1−(Mt1/Me)1/3)…(19)

SOXNO during the release controlXFrom storage reduction catalyst to SOXThe rate at which is released is expressed by the following equation. SOXThe release rate R is the temperature T, the SO at the current timeXOcclusion amount S and NOXIt becomes a function of the reducing agent CO flowing into the storage catalyst. Reducing agents include unburned fuel and carbon monoxide.
R = f (T, S, CO) (1)
SOXThe release rate R can be specifically expressed by the following formula, for example. The following equation applies Arrhenius' equation.
R = A × exp (−Ea/ RT) x [SOX] [CO] (2)
Here, the coefficient A is a frequency factor and a physical property value. A can be obtained experimentally. Constant EaIs an activation energy and a known physical property. The variable T is an absolute temperature. The coefficient R is a gas constant. Variable [SOX] Indicates the concentration of sulfate. The variable [CO] is NOXThe concentration of the reducing agent flowing into the storage reduction catalyst is shown.
For example, the higher the temperature, the higher the SOXRelease rate increases, SOXThe more occlusion, the more SOXIt shows that the release rate increases. Furthermore, the greater the amount of reducing agent, the more SOXIt shows that the release rate increases.

FIG. 10 shows the SO calculated by the calculation method in the present embodiment.XRelease rate graph and residual SOXThe graph of the comparative example calculated without considering occlusion amount is shown. In addition, FIG.XThe point of the example of measurement which measured discharge speed is shown.
In the comparative example, SO shown in Formula (3)XStorage amount St1The calculation is performed without correcting the above. In the graph of the comparative example, NOXSO of storage reduction catalystXSO until the amount of occlusion reaches zeroXHas a release rate. On the other hand, in the calculation example in the present embodiment, NOXSO of storage reduction catalystXStorage amount is residual SOXWhen it reaches the amount of occlusion, SOXRelease speed becomes zero. It can be seen that the calculation example of this embodiment is in good agreement with the actual measurement example.
In this embodiment, the current SOXResidual SO for controlled releaseXBased on the amount of occlusion, this SOXSO at each time in release controlXRelease rate is calculated. By adopting this configuration, SOXRemaining SO even after release controlXIs taken into account and the SOXThe release rate can be calculated. In particular, in the present embodiment, the current SOXSO at each time in release controlXStorage amount and residual SOXBased on the difference with the amount of occlusion, the SO at each timeXRelease rate is calculated. With this configuration, SO can be accurately controlled with simple control.XThe release rate can be calculated.
Further, in the present embodiment, SO at every time.XBecause the release rate is calculated, NOXSO from storage reduction catalystXThe discharge amount can be calculated with high accuracy. Or NOXSO remaining in the storage reduction catalystXThe amount of occlusion can be calculated with high accuracy. SOXThe end time of the discharge control can be determined with high accuracy. As a result, SOXIt can be avoided that the time for performing the release control becomes longer than necessary. NOXThermal deterioration of the storage reduction catalyst can be suppressed. Or it can avoid that fuel is consumed more than necessary when auxiliary injection is performed in the combustion chamber.
In the present embodiment, SOXStorage amount is residual SOXSO when the amount of occlusion is reachedXAlthough the release control has ended, the present invention is not limited to this form, and any SOXSO in the amount of occlusionXRelease control can be terminated.
Also, SOXThe equation for calculating the release rate is not limited to the above equation (2).XThe correction term of equation (3) in this embodiment can be applied to any equation (1) for calculating the release rate. Also, SOXThe correction of the release rate is not limited to this form, and the residual SOXArbitrary correction in consideration of the occlusion amount can be employed.
Sulfur poisoning recovery treatment is NOXSO stored in the storage catalystXThis is done each time the amount increases and reaches an acceptable value. When performing sulfur poisoning recovery treatment multiple times, SOXNO when performing release controlXThe temperature of the storage reduction catalyst may be changed each time.
With reference to FIG. 1, FIG. 6, FIG. 8, and FIG. 11 to FIG. In the present embodiment, SOXA correction is made to the equation for calculating the release rate.
Referring to FIG. 6, NOXSO of storage catalystXAs the amount of occlusion decreases, SOXRelease rate decreases. SO at this timeXThe trend of decreasing release rate is NOXIt can be seen that it depends on the bed temperature of the storage reduction catalyst. For example, NOXWhen the bed temperature of the storage reduction catalyst is 650 ° C., SOXThe release rate graph is linear. However, NOXWhen the bed temperature of the storage reduction catalyst is lowered, SOXThe release rate graph is a curve. NOXWhen the bed temperature of the storage reduction catalyst is low, SOXAfter starting the release of SOXRelease rate decreases and then slowly SOXThere is a tendency for the release rate to decrease. In the present embodiment, the correction term for calculating this tendency is SO.XInclude in the formula to calculate the release rate.

Rt1 *= Rt1× (1-r2/ R1) ... (7)
Equation (7) is the radius r2Is radius r1As you get closer toXIt shows that the release rate approaches zero. That is, SOXStorage amount St1Is residual SOXStorage amount SeAs you get closer toXIt shows that the release rate approaches zero. Equation (7) is the same radius r2The radius r1Is larger, the corrected SOXRelease rate Rt1 *Indicates that it will grow. In addition, the corrected SOXRelease rate Rt1 *Is the radius r1If is large, SOXIt shows that it decreases linearly as the storage amount decreases.
Next, the radius r included in Equation (7)1And radius r2And the ratio is calculated. In the first release model of the present embodiment, SOXThe discharge amount is made to correspond to the area of the circle shown in FIG. That is, SOXThe amount released is given by:
πr2∝SOXRelease amount (8)
Referring to FIGS. 8 and 13, the radius r1The area of the circle is the releasable SOXAmount (final SOXAmount released) MeCorresponding to Releasable SOXAmount MeIs SOXSO when release control is startedXStorage amount S0To residual SOXStorage amount SeIs a value obtained by subtracting. Radius r2The area of the circle is the time tsTo time t1Accumulated SO released byXRelease amount Mt1Corresponding to From equation (8), radius r1Can be calculated.
πr1 2∝Me... (9)
πr1 2= KMe(K: constant)
r1= (K / π × Me)1/2 (10)
Next, radius r1As in the derivation of the radius r by the equation (8)2Can be calculated.
πr2 2∝Mt1 ... (11)
πr2 2= KMt1(K: constant)
r2= (K / π × Mt1)1/2 (12)
From equation (10) and equation (12), radius r1And radius r2The ratio can be calculated as:
r2/ R1= (Mt1/ Me)1/2 ... (13)
Thus, the radius r1And radius r2The ratio is the releasable SOXAmount MeAnd time tsTo time t1Total SO released duringXRelease amount Mt1And can be calculated as follows. Further, by substituting the value calculated in Equation (13) into Equation (7), the corrected SOXRelease rate Rt1 *Can be calculated.
Rt1 *= Rt1× (1- (Mt1/ Me)1/2) ... (14)
FIG. 14 shows a graph of the results of calculation using the first release model in the present embodiment.
