Abstract
Provided is a laser welding method and apparatus 10 for a workpiece W that can focus a laser beam L at the welding processing position with high accuracy during laser welding of the workpiece W. After recognizing the outer shape pattern of the workpiece W with the pattern recognition device 14 equipped with the CCD camera 14a, the plane coordinates of the singular points P1 to P12, which specify the shape of all the corner portions C1 to C12 in the outer shape pattern are read. Then, the position information of the outer shape pattern of the workpiece W is specified based on the coordinates, and the welding process path S is calculated based on the position information. At the time of welding, the welding position is compared by comparing the correction position information of the outer shape of the workpiece W acquired by the correction pattern acquisition device 20 with the position information of the workpiece W at the same position previously acquired by the pattern recognition device 14. The path S is corrected.
Description
The present invention relates to a workpiece laser welding method and apparatus, and more particularly, to a laser welding method and apparatus suitable for sealing a battery header to an opening of a battery can such as a prismatic battery.
Laser welding has higher positioning accuracy of the welded part and can be welded in a fine region compared to other welding methods such as arc welding, resistance welding, or gas welding, so there is less thermal influence on the periphery of the welded part. For this reason, it is frequently used in the work welding method in the manufacturing process of electronic parts.
For example, this laser welding is used for sealing a rectangular battery used as a power source for electronic equipment. Here, the prismatic battery is a battery in which a battery element such as a lithium ion secondary battery is sealed and accommodated in a thin prismatic battery can, and is specifically manufactured by the following method. That is, a lid provided with a conductive connection terminal or the like is fitted to the opening end of a rectangular battery can made of a metal such as stainless steel or aluminum containing a battery element, and a fitting portion between the battery can and the lid is fitted. It is manufactured by irradiating a laser beam and welding the part in an airtight and pressure-resistant manner. For this reason, when the positioning accuracy of the welding position is lowered and welding failure occurs in the fitting portion, there arises a problem that the battery is ruptured due to electrolyte leakage or insufficient pressure resistance.
Therefore, conventionally, in order to further increase the positioning accuracy of the welding position, a laser welding method and apparatus for adjusting the welding position based on image data captured by a CCD camera or the like have been proposed. For example,
When using laser welding that has high positioning accuracy of the welded part and can be welded in a fine region, if the work is mounted with a deviation from the specified mounting position on the work table (mounting table), the work When welding is continuously performed, welding deviation occurs. Therefore, if this laser welding method is used, the laser beam is a pulsed laser beam, and an image of the welding position on the workpiece surface is captured while the laser beam is not being output. It is possible to measure the deviation from the set welding position in a short time and correct the welding deviation with high accuracy.
However, since this laser welding method corrects a deviation between a welding mark after welding and a preset welding position, a welding position set in advance at the welding portion immediately before the correction is performed. There will be a gap between the two. That is, in such a technique, when a deviation occurs between a preset welding position and an actual welding position, the welding processing path is corrected, and such a deviation cannot be prevented in advance. There was a problem.
In addition, in order to correct the welding position of the workpiece, a welding device on the surface of the workpiece is directly photographed using a camera device such as a CCD camera to obtain image data for correcting the welding position. The fitting part (welded part) where the outer can having a colored appearance and the sealing body are fitted together has an unclear boundary (= welding position), and the welding position is directly photographed by photographing the welding position on the workpiece surface. In order to accurately grasp, a high-resolution camera device such as a CCD camera must be used. In addition, when such a high-resolution CCD camera is used, it takes time for image processing, and there is a problem that the operation speed of the entire laser welding apparatus is reduced.
Furthermore, when the work is fixed to the work table in a tilted state due to wear of jigs used when fixing the work to the work table or the like, or foreign matter biting, etc., or the work is in the height direction (Z-axis direction) However, even if the welding deviation in the horizontal direction (XY direction) can be eliminated, the deviation in the height direction cannot be corrected, and the focal point of the laser beam is partially corrected. There has been a problem that the position deviates from the welding position on the workpiece surface, resulting in poor welding. Such a problem becomes more conspicuous when continuously welding the surface of a large battery can (work) such as a secondary battery for a hybrid vehicle.
Therefore, a main object of the present invention is to provide a laser welding method and apparatus for a workpiece that can prevent welding position deviation and reliably weld a portion that requires welding. A further object of the present invention is to provide a laser welding method and apparatus for a workpiece, which can focus the laser beam on a predetermined welding position with high accuracy regardless of the size of the workpiece. And to provide.

In this invention, prior to welding of the workpiece W, the welding processing path S of the workpiece W is specified. At this time, the welding position on the surface of the workpiece W is directly photographed by the
Here, “singular point that identifies the shape of the corner part” means the start point / end point / center point of the arc that forms the outer shape of the corner part, or an intermediate point or inflection on the arc between the start point and end point This refers to a point necessary for specifying the arc shape of a corner portion, such as a point.
With this configuration, compared to a method of photographing the welding process path S provided on the surface of the workpiece W with the
Then, when the calculation of the welding process path S of the workpiece W is completed, the welding of the workpiece W is started. When the workpiece W is continuously welded along the welding process path S, the thermal expansion at the time of welding, etc. There may be a gap between the welding processing path S calculated in advance and the welding location to be actually welded. In particular, such a deviation becomes large when the workpiece W is large or when the welding process path is long. However, in the present invention, when the laser beam L is irradiated to the welding portion of the workpiece W, the correction
Further, when the welding process path S is corrected, the correction

According to the inventions described in claims 2 and 5, in addition to the above-described effect, after the position information of the outer shape pattern of the workpiece is specified in three dimensions, the welding process path is calculated based on the position information.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a block circuit diagram of a

The
The
In the figure,
The moving means 18 is, for example, a relative moving device in which a three-axis screw mechanism and a servo motor (or a stepping motor) are combined and moves relative to each other three-dimensionally along a guide rail. In the case where the

Further, the focal point of the laser light L emitted from the

The control device A includes a
Next, the operation of the
Note that image data captured by the
The image of the workpiece W shown in FIG. 3 displayed on the
In the
Subsequently, in the
When the welding process path S is calculated, the
Further, simultaneously with the start of welding, the
Further, the correction
And in the correction
That is, the
Here, the imaging interval (frame interval) of the workpiece W outer shape by the
Subsequently, in the
Then, data indicating the corrected welding path S + (thin line portion in the figure) is sent to the
On the other hand, for example, when the workpiece W is small and the linear portion of the workpiece W does not stretch, or even if elongation occurs, the workpiece W is small and the elongation is within the effective welding range of the nugget. The welding process path S is not corrected, and laser welding is performed up to R7 along the previously calculated welding process path S.
Next, when the welding is completed up to R7 + (or R7) corresponding to the start point P7 + of the corner portion of the work W, the corner portion (arc portion) is thereafter welded, but the straight portion is extended, but FIG. As shown in Fig. 5, if there is no deformation at the corner of the workpiece W, or if there is deformation, even if the deformation is within the effective welding range of the nugget, the welding process path S + is not corrected and welding is performed. Laser welding is performed along the machining path S + .
On the other hand, for example, when the workpiece W is large and the straight portion is extended and the corner portion of the workpiece W is deformed beyond the effective welding range of the nugget, the welding process path S + is corrected as follows. Is called. That is, since the preceding correction
Then, the data indicating the corrected welding process path S ++ obtained in this manner is sent to the
In addition, even if the straight part does not extend or the elongation occurs, the elongation is within the effective welding range of the nugget, but the corner portion of the work W is also deformed exceeding the effective welding range of the nugget. The corner portion of the welding path S is corrected by the same method as described above.
In the
The laser welding is performed in an assist gas atmosphere by injecting an assist gas to the welding position Y of the workpiece W. As the assist gas, for example, oxygen gas is used as the active gas, and nitrogen gas, argon gas, or the like is generally used as the inert gas.
Further, in the adjustment, it is necessary to make the optical axes of the laser beams L of the
According to the
Then, when the calculation of the welding process path S of the workpiece W is completed, the welding of the workpiece W is started.
Next, the
In the
And about the corner parts C1-C4 of the workpiece | work W which read the plane coordinate of the singular point P1-P12, the
A two-dot chain line in FIG. 6 indicates an imaging position t when the
Subsequently, in the
