Description
In the present invention, a liquid storage chamber for storing a liquid and the liquid is held at a negative pressure, but a negative pressure generating member storage chamber for supplying the liquid when suction on the supply side (recording device or the like) exceeds the negative pressure. And an ink containing a dye or a pigment, a container that contains a liquid such as a coating liquid or a reaction liquid that does not contain these, or a new or reusable liquid container that can contain this liquid.
In recent years, as a liquid storage container, “a liquid storage chamber for storing liquid and this liquid is held at a negative pressure, but if the suction on the supply side (printing machine, recording device, etc.) exceeds this negative pressure, the liquid is supplied. A container containing a negative pressure generating member storage chamber, containing ink such as a dye or pigment, a liquid containing a coating liquid or a reaction liquid not containing them, or a new or reusable liquid storage container capable of storing the liquid "Has been put to practical use. This liquid container is sold as an ink cartridge for an ink jet printer and put into practical use.
Hereinafter, the liquid will be described using ink as an example. Literatures relating to this configuration include Literatures 1-3.
On the other hand, there are ink cartridges for ink jet recording that contain only ink inside. In this type, ink tends to leak to the outside when the ink cartridge is handled, and the ink head pressure is applied to the ink supply port, and the ink supply to the printer tends to become unstable.
Supply from the ink storage container to the ink jet head includes a form using a rubber stopper or a seal provided in the container, which can be inserted into the ink supply port, and a form using a pressure contact body having a capillary force at the supply port. When the pressure contact body is provided as in the latter case, it is necessary to press the pressure contact body against the negative pressure generating member in order to ensure ink supply stability of the negative pressure generation member in the ink storage container. For example, in Patent Document 4, fibers from end to end are bundled, and a pressure contact body having a strong capillary force is pressed against the ink absorption container. This document discloses an invention in which the pressure contact body itself is slid without changing its shape as it is when it is mounted on an ink jet head so as to be further pressed against the negative pressure generating member. Further, in
Conventionally, there has been no part or structure for introducing the atmosphere but preventing the outflow of ink to take into account the situation inside the container at atmospheric pressure. This means that introduction of air is allowed in the longitudinal direction of the container and the entire cross-sectional area of the container. Therefore, in order to prevent the ink from flowing out from the ink storage chamber exposed to the atmospheric pressure, the configuration of the ink supply unit as described in
Furthermore, the present invention provides a new mechanism by paying attention to the “thickness direction of the container”, which has not been paid attention in the past, that is, the direction of the minimum length of the liquid storage container having a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape.

The present invention includes a negative pressure generating member chamber that is filled with air and includes a liquid discharge port and that stores a negative pressure generating member, a liquid storage chamber that stores liquid, the negative pressure generating member chamber, and the liquid storage chamber. In the present invention, since the air introduction chamber is provided with a penetrating portion that penetrates the outer walls of the negative pressure generating member chamber and the liquid storage chamber, in particular, the liquid flow and the atmospheric flow are separated. Hereinafter, an ink cartridge for an ink jet recording apparatus will be described with reference to the drawings as an embodiment of a liquid container of the present invention.

FIG. 11 is a detailed view of the periphery of the connection chamber of the present invention, (c) is a perspective view seen from the lid side of the ink cartridge, (b) is a view taken along the line BB in (c), ) Is an AA arrow view of (a).
The
The negative
When the ink cartridge is manufactured, the second negative pressure generating member is rectangular, and is loaded while being pressed into a second negative pressure material chamber having a slightly smaller size and the same rectangular shape. Since a part of the connecting
As shown in FIGS. 11A and 11B, the
In addition, one of the new technical mechanisms of this embodiment is an air introduction chamber for introducing air, which is located outside the side surface of the container and communicates with each other. A
Ink filling for the use of the
When the
That is, the air supply hole 15 is a position of a node where the ink consumption is switched from the negative pressure generating member storage chamber 3ba to the
The
The connecting
Further, since air flows in the connecting
The
The
The
The
The position of the air introduction hole 16 in the
The
Generally, the greater the water repellency of a material, in other words, the greater the contact angle of the material with water, the smaller the capillary force, and the smaller the capillary diameter, the greater the capillary force. Since the
The pressure contact body of this example has a contact angle with water of 80 degrees or more, preferably 90 degrees or more. For example, an olefin resin such as polyethylene or polypropylene, a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or polycaprolactone, or polyvinylidene fluoride. A porous material made of a fluororesin such as polytetrafluoroethylene or a resin such as polystyrene or vinyl chloride is suitable. Such a fibrous material or a porous material is used. Although a sintered compact is mentioned, it is not restricted to this. A sintered body of an olefin resin such as polyethylene or polypropylene has a contact angle with water of 90 degrees or more, has a low melting point, has high workability, and is preferable from the viewpoint of economical productivity.
The sintered body of polyethylene can be manufactured as follows. After mixing a mixture of polyethylene resin powder and calcium carbonate into a mold, compressing and molding at a temperature at which only a part of the polyethylene resin melts, and soaking it in hydrochloric acid water to remove calcium carbonate And dried to obtain a porous member. As a result, a polyethylene resin sintered body having a porosity of 30 to 60% and a pore diameter of 10 to 100 μm was obtained as the
In general, ink cartridges that contain a negative pressure generating member and do not use an open / close valve at the ink discharge port are usually marketed with air communication portions such as the air introduction hole and ink discharge port sealed. At this stage, it is necessary to open the air introduction holes first, and then the ink discharge ports in this order. However, if the ink ejection holes are opened first in the reverse order, ink leaks out from the ink ejection port when the internal pressure of the ink cartridge is higher than the atmospheric pressure due to an increase in the temperature during the physical distribution process or storage. Sometimes. In addition, it is known that ink is leaked from an ink supply port when an ink cartridge that is mounted on a recording apparatus and used is removed from the recording apparatus before the ink is consumed. In this embodiment, the problem of leakage of the porous member located at the protruding portion (liquid supply port) is improved, and from the point that the liquid storage container is excellent in handleability, the following single invention and the present invention described above. It can be recognized that it exists as a synergistic effect invention. That is, in the liquid storage container having a protruding portion that protrudes in a cylindrical shape from the bottom surface of the liquid storage container that stores the negative pressure generating member and is filled with the porous member, the porous member fills the negative pressure generating member with ink. The ink-free region does not hold the liquid even after being applied, and when it receives external pressure, it deforms itself to increase its capillary force and form a pressure contact state with the negative pressure generating member. It is a liquid container. This porous member is preferably made of a material having a pore diameter of 10 to 100 μm and a porosity of 30% to 60%, and preferably made of a water repellent resin material having a contact angle with water of 90 ° or more. More preferably, it is a sintered polyethylene. According to the liquid container of the single invention and the synergistic effect invention of the present invention, the liquid discharge port has a water-repellent porous body and uses a porous member that can be deformed by itself. Therefore, the liquid supply can be improved by improving the adhesion with the connecting pipe, and wasteful outflow of the liquid can be prevented.
