Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to judge the similarity between the spectrum of an unknown sample and a retrieved spectrum by the visual inspection by an analyzing person readily, by displaying the retrieved data and the measured data with different kinds of lines, with the positions being slightly deviated. CONSTITUTION:In a gaschromatograph/mass spectrograph, measured mass spectrum data are stored in an external storage device 6 through an input/output interface 5 and a CPU 3. In the storage device 6, the standard spectrum of a standard sample is stored as a data base for retrieval beforehand. The spectrum, which has a main peak top at the same position as the position of the main peak to of the mass spectrum obtained by the measurement, is retrieved out of the data for the retrieval. The retrieved spectrum and the measured spectrum are sequentially displayed on a CRT 8 at positions, which are deviated by an amount smaller than one mass unit, in different kinds of lines such as dotted lines or in different colors. The two displayed spectrums are compared. The spectrum of a known material, which agrees with the spectrum of an unknown sample, is selected. The measured spectrum data are printed with a printer 9.
