Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the tile phosphor which shows a high luminous output through radiation excitation and enables the realization of image processing at higher speed with higher resolution, the reduction in radiation dose, etc. in, e.g., computerized tomography equipment, by using a cadmium tungstate single crystal containing a specified small amount of Al element therein. CONSTITUTION:A cadmium tungstate single-crystal phosphor containing 0.5-40ppm of Al element in the single crystal. This phosphor shows a high luminous output by the excitation with radiation such as an X-ray or gamma-ray; therefore, it can improve the performance of a radiation detector. Accordingly, it enables the realization of image processing at higher speed with higher resolution, the reduction in radiation dose, etc. in e.g., computerized tomography equipment. It is also suitable for the detection of high-energy radiation having a long penetrating distance because of its high transmissivity.
