Abstract

PURPOSE:To bundle long and thin vegetables while effecting a constant feeding thereof at a predetermined weight by dividing the vegetable grasping and carrying apparatus into two structures: a first take-up convey means having a first take-up portion sweeping out a rotary path and a second take-up and convey means having a second take-up portion sweeping out a path likewise. CONSTITUTION:Long and thin vegetable and the like on a stand 3 are first grasped by a take-up portion 20 and then forced to be raised above a second take-up portion 37 and near a bundling mechanism 45, since the take-up portion 20 is moved for an appropriate angle sweeping out a rotary path about a first horizontal shaft 9. In this case, the take-up portion 20 is considerably inclined and, therefore, the long and thin vegetables thereon are, for the most part, naturally dropped onto the take-up portion 37 under the gravitational effect. The take-up portion 20 thereafter moves downwardly and returns to its original position, smoothly performing a vegetable turn-over function. At this point, since an inclined bundling arm 48 of the bundling mechanism 45 remains in an uprightly straight position, a bundling tape 47 is maintained in a steeply inclined and tensioned conditions, with its forward end retained by a tape end retaining mechanism 31 and its beginning end positioned upwardly.
