Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the settling system which settles the gyro compass GC stably in the true north direction in its early stage by constituting a circuit which applies a horizontal shaft with torque corresponding to the angular velocity of the rotation of a rotor around the horizontal shaft for a constant time after the gyro compass GC is actuated. CONSTITUTION:The electric circuit 8 processes detection information from an inclinometer 5 which transduces the inclination of the rotary shaft of the rotor 2 of the GC to the ground into an electric signal. The circuit which generates PS in the east-west direction consists of a detecting circuit 8A, an integration circuit 8C, an attenuator 8D, a switch 8E, an adder 8F, and a torquer 4 in addition to a circuit which generates up-down preset PS. Then when the GC is actuated, the switch 8E of the circuit is turned on in a 2nd stage after normal 1st stage operation (wherein the rotor shaft is held horizontal by twisting a piano wire 3B). Consequently, the circuit detects the slanting angular velocity of the inclinometer 5 and operates the torquer 4 according to its control value to apply PS to the GC shaft vertically and horizontally at the same time. Therefore, a north direction end is directed to the true north in a short time.
