Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption of a device, improve printing quality and shorten time required for printing by making the same size of a cross-section area which crosses directly an ink flow direction of a liquid passage near a heat-generating part as that of an orifice side. CONSTITUTION:The cross-section area of a liquid passage which crosses directly an ink flow direction near a heat-generating part 5 is formed to match that of an orifice 1 side. When this taper angle is alpha deg.=30 deg., an angle formed by two lines which cross directly the wall surface from the center C of the heat- generating part 5 is beta deg.=150 deg.. When heat generation starts, bubbles are directed from the center C of the heat-generating part to all the directions under uniform pressure. The ratio of bubble energy which moves the ink back and forth is Ef:Eb=360-beta:beta=7:5. Therefore, the ratio R of contribution to ink discharge is R=Ef/(Ef+Eb)approx.=0.85. Consequently, the energy efficiency is improved by about 17% compared to a conventional device. Further, since the lengths of the ink flow passages on the effective orifice side and the ink supply side are equal, it is made possible to shorten the time required for ink supply to the flow passage 2 after ink discharge.
