Abstract

PURPOSE: To make performable an appropriate sewing operation by lowering a cloth presser member by an elevating/lowering means, pressing the vicinity of the needle location point of a cloth to be sewn and pressing a lower front part while turning over an upper front part by a sliding means during a sewing operation. CONSTITUTION: An air cylinder 20 for elevating and lowering as the elevating/lowering means is freely turnably supported by a bearing fixed to the lower part of a swing plate 11. To the lower end of a cylinder knuckle 26 attached to the lower end of a cylinder rod, a planar cloth presser member 27 is fixed. When the activation switch of this sewing machine is pressed, a needle and the cloth presser member 27 are positioned on the sewing scheduled line of the lower front part A2 . Then, the swing plate 11 is rotated clockwise and the cloth presser member 27 is moved in a direction C and presses the sewing scheduled line of the lower front part A1 near the needle location point. Thereafter, the lower front part A2 is held in a turned-over state by the cloth presser member 27 and the sewing operation is performed. Also, at the time of sewing the upper front part A1 , the cloth presser member 27 presses the flapping of the cloths W1 and W2 near the needle location point and excellent stitches are formed.
