Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound which is useful as a medicine, because is has the action to improve serum lipid image, by extracting lipid from the cell bodies of a microorganism in Pellicularia cultured in a specific medium and separating and purifying the extract. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism in Pellicularia such as Pellicularia filamentosa solani (IFO 5879) is cultured in a medium containing carbohydrates as a carbon source and a surface active agent. Then, lipids are extracted from the cell bodies, then separated and purified to give the objective compound. The lipid extraction from the cell bodies is preferably carried out by the multi-step process containing the first extraction step using an alcohol in the presence of water.
