Abstract
PURPOSE:To control a natural circulation flow rate and to control a reactor output with controlling control rods and a core flow for a boiling water nuclear reactor, by controlling an openness of an control valve fitted to a steam riser tube or a steam downcomer tube. CONSTITUTION:A downcomer 8 is connected to a steam drum 5 and, to downcomer 8, a control valve 10 is fitted. In case a reactor output is diminished in accordance with a diminished power demand during a night time, a coolant flow resistance in the downcomer 8 increases by decreasing an openness of the control valve 10, therewith a downcoming flow is diminished. The coolant flow rate flowing into a core 1 decreases, a coolant boiling ratio inside the core 1 rises, consequently the coolant which has also a role of a moderator decreases its in-core existence ratio. Through this procedure, a natural circulation flow rate is limited and the reactor output is controlled by control rods 9 and the core flow rate.
