Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an anti-inflammatory analgesic plaster containing 4- biphenylylacetic acid, exhibiting quantitative and durable action and free from side effect in transcutaneous administration. CONSTITUTION:The objective plaster contains the compound of formula as an active component. A base containing the compound of formula in dissolved state is spread over a surface of a sheet substrate such as cloth or paper to enable the transcutaneous administration. The compound of formula is dissolved in an alkaline aqueous solution (e.g. NaOH or KOH solution) added with a small amount of a water-soluble organic amine (e.g. diethanolamine or triethanolamine). The obtained solution is kneaded into a base and added with an acid (e.g. CHl or H2SO4) to adjust the pH to 6-7, preferably 6.4-6.8. The compound of formula can be uniformly dissolved in the base by this process without causing the precipitation of the compound with time. The amount of the compound of formula is preferably 0.1-5.0wt.%, especially 0.3-1wt.% based on the base.
