Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain accurate edge position detection by improving the asymmetry of a reproduced waveform and applying digital processing by a threshold value generated while using a reproducing signal level of a pit part as a reference value. CONSTITUTION:A detection signal 101 detected by a photodetector 1 becomes a reproduction signal 102 amplified up to a desired level by an amplifier 2, the reproducing signal 102 is subjected to polarity inversion by an inverse amplifier 3, becomes an inverse signal 108, which is given to a waveform equalizer 4. An equalizing signal 103 waveform-shaped by the waveform equalizer 4 is given to a peak detection circuit 5, the reproducing signal level at the pit part is detected and the detected peak 104 is stored in a hold circuit 6 to form a reference value 105. Then a setting circuit 107 generates a threshold value 106 based on a reference value 105, the equalizing signal 103 is binarized at the threshold value 106 at the comparator circuit 8 to obtain a reproducing pulse 107. Thus, the corresponding between the edge position at the pit and the edge position of the reproducing pulse is improved to reduce the signal detection error.
