Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain the air-fuel ratio of each cylinder at the same ratio by providing the cylinder groups of an engine with oxygen sensors respectively and arranging auxiliary sensors, in the case where the air-fuel ratio feedback control is performed independently each other, and correcting each air-fuel ratio feedback control. CONSTITUTION:An engine is provided with a plurality of cylinder groups 1 and 2 composed of a plurality of cylinders. And the exhaust system of each of the cylinder groups 1 and 2 is composed of multiple exhaust pipes 35 and 45, catalytic converters 64 and 65, exhaust pipes 66 and 67 and so on. The multiple exhaust pipes 35 and 45 are provided with oxygen sensors 61 and 72 respectively, and each detected signal of these sensors will be input in an electronic controller 10. In this constitution a section 68 collecting the exhaust pipes 66 and 67 is provided in their downstream courses. And the collecting section 68 is provided with an auxiliary oxygen sensor 75 for inputting also the detected signals by this sensor 75 in the controller 10. Based on these signals, the correction factor for air-fuel feedback control is further corrected.
