Abstract

PURPOSE:To judge whether vibration detected by a sensor is of an earthquake by obtaining the amplitude and frequency of vibration from detecting signals of a vibration sensor and comparing them with a vibration pattern due to an earthquake. CONSTITUTION:A first X and Y sensors 11, 12 are operated intermittently and alternately. Further, a circuit is operated intermittently, at intervals of a second. In the case where a vibration is detected by the sensors 11, 12, the circuit is started by a first vibration and changed over to continuous operation. If the vibration does not continue for tens seconds, the circuit is automatically changed over to intermittent operation. In the case where the vibration is detected, signals waveform shaping circuit 18 that have passed a are transmitted to a CPU 20 together with detected signals from which high frequency components are removed by a LPF 15. The CPU obtains the amplitude and frequency of the vibration from input signals, the input signals are compared with a vibration pattern which is previously stored in a memory 22, and it is judged whether an earthquake occurs.
