Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve charging efficiency of intake in an engine by feeding pressurized air from auxiliary intake passages at a specified timing by means of controlling each rotary valve provided on respective main and the auxiliary passages to open and close according to the opening and closing timing of the respective intake valves. CONSTITUTION:Together with an engine having an intake valve 2 and an exhaust valve 3 in its combustion chamber 1, it also has the intake valve 2 connected to a throttle body 5 provided at the downstream from an air cleaner 4 with an intake pipe 6. In this case, the intake pipe 6 is composed of a main intake passage 7a, equipped with a first rotary valve 10, and an auxiliary intake passage 7b which by-passes the first rotary valve 10 on the main intake passage 7a. The auxiliary intake passage 7b is equipped with a supercharger 8, a reservoir 9 and a second rotary valve 11 arranged in this order. Both rotary valves 10, 11 are controlled of their opening and closing actions according to the opening and closing actions of the respective intake valves 2. In other words, the pressurized air is supercharged to the combustion chamber in the latter half of the time the intake valve is opened.
