Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a rare earth magnet having high magnet characteristics by spraying a molten alloy essentially consisting of a rare earth element, transition metal and boron, cooling the melt forcibly to form the flat coarse grains of the alloy and subjecting the alloy to molding in a magnetic field and sintering. CONSTITUTION:The molten alloy B essentially consisting of the rare earth element R (Nd), the transition metal T (Fe) and the boron (B) is injected from a nozzle A and is sprayed from a nozzle C by using gaseous Ar to form alloy liquid drops D. The alloy liquid drops D are striken against a disk-shaped cooling disk F and are thereby forcibly cooled to form the crystallized flat coarse particles (disk shape) E of the alloy. This alloy is molded in the magnetic field and is then sintered. The R2T14B series magnet contg. Nd, Fe and B as the essential component and having high magnet characteristics is thereby obtd.
